"The current Pakistan Test squad doesn't have any marketable face apart from Babar Azam": Ramiz Raja

We must all refrain from criticising Rameez without considering his history, where he came from (violins please).

This is the man who was in a team full of superstars. Imran, Miandad, Salim Malik, Wasim Akram, Inzamam, Waqar Younis, Saeed Anwar he even lasted till shoaib akhtar made his debut. No one cares if he was in the team. The poor little educated boy, with his MBA, wristy flicks, ball attracting pads and a superb edge of his bat, just could not catch a break.

He took the catch that won the World Cup (intensify the violins to crescendo)…still no one cared.

Poor poor ramiz.

You see this is why he’s obsessed with marketable commodities. This is payback for him.

So please consider all of this before ridiculous him.

I’ve considered all of this….

Now let’s all point at him and laugh

Then this is a failure of our marketing companies in my opinion.
If they could make someone who goes at 120 sr a crowd puller, then why can't they hype up more deserving players?
Marketing companies take a cut from players from revenue made not every player is willing to give a percentage of their revenue earned

I don’t disagree with much of this. However, my point is since day one - since his debut there’s been constant talk about we need to look after Naseem, he needs to take it easy we need to ease him in. He went from being a bright prospect bowling consistently 140-148k on his debut to struggling to hit 135 within 18 months. Yes sporadically he’s had some periods of time exceeding 140-145, but I just get the feeling that he’s always holding back.

His main advantage when he made his debut was pace. He should have been encouraged to go flat out. But there’s always been a constant “look after your body”.

Workload management is one thing, but when you do play you should not be holding back.

I’m not concerned about 200 wickets, I’m saying we should forget that and make sure whoever is playing is firing and not just trying to get by.
Workload management is connected to your ability to bowl at full tilt though. I mean workload management of bowlers in other countries is meticulously managed down to the number of balls that a bowler will potentially bowl. In Pakistan no such efforts are made. Instead bowlers are playing in meaningless domestic tournaments like the Champions Cup before a high-profile 3-match test series. Bowlers bear some responsibility for their performance but so does the PCB for running them into the ground. And its not just workload management. It's also misdiagnosing and mismanaging injuries. Which is going to happen if you have nepotistic, slasher movie villains like Dr. Sohail Saleem in-charge of looking after the well-being of your fast-bowlers.

Ramiz, he is now throwing Babar under the bus ie Babar asked for flat pitches as captain. What kind of a chairman was he to let the captain walk over you like this if what he is saying is true?

Source for Babar asking for flat pitches? It will actually make sense because Babar has been very poor when playing away and he was able to score some runs on super roads at home, but I have not seen any direct source which says he asked for it.

I have seen direct quotes from Raza after Aus series that it was done to counter Aus pacers.

Sajid Khan is quite marketable. So is Saim Ayub if he gets his form back.
You don't need to market faces, you need to market match winning performances irrespective of the stature of a player. If the team is consistently winning the crowd will automatically come in Asia

That's what I meant. Performance, vibe etc.

Who cares about face? LOL.

He is the voice of 90% of Pakistan cricket fans around the world

The ones speaking up against the RizBar travesty are a small minority but a very loud and powerful one. What’s their power? Their power is to insist on the truth! That’s what makes them loud….however, Ramiz only says what 90% of the ignorant masses want to hear, and Ramiz ignores what they want to put a blind eye over!
