Does this stadium capable of hosting international matches? Is there any floodlights capacity?

PCB should do something for this stadium .Because it is the only probable stadium in Baluchistan province where international or PSL matches can be held

I don't think they will get security clearance for Quetta. Though would love to see games there.

If you want a security logistics headache, Quetta is up there with any location I could hypothetically think of

There is also a Bugti stadium isn't there? Or is that the same? Anyway both stadiums look Pak standard so I don't see why not but the first step in Pakistan must be slightly tentative. Maybe build a stadium in Islamabad, revamp Lahore, Karachi and Multan.

Quetta and Peshawar may have to be left out for now.

Sethi is out of his mind for saying we should host matches in Peshawar and Quetta as thats a security issue

for now matches should only take place at
Lahore
Karachi
Rawalpindi
Multan

Not at all. The PSL is for all regions of Pakistan but full fledged security must be provided.

Naturally Pindi and Multan should be added next year

If they want to bring cricket in B'stan, it should be a fresh start - build a stadium at Gwadar. Also, that new port city was among my top list for 6th/7th PSL franchise - might bring some Chinese money as well in PSL.

Some towns in Punjab and Sindh have more population than Gwadar at the moment. To have a stadium and PSL team there at the moment is the definition of unfeasible.

What about Sialkot?

Sialkot doesnt have a team even at this point so doesnt make sense to schedule there(Pindi/Isb are twin cities so works for Isb United). Secondly Sialkot doesnt have an international stadium either. It has hosted a top team for decades. So not feasible or realistic to play there

Sadly,I doubt that Quetta will get any cricket in the near future.Pindi and Multan should be the priorities for now.Work should start on renovation and face-lifting.

It's very much possible but the provincial govt has to insist and I do not expect that from their current provincial govt.

Hyderabad got PSL matches because the Sindh Govt herself insisted the to host there.

Having a few PSL games and creating a world class stadium in Balochistan will play a big role in integrating Balochistan with the rest of Pakistan and alleviating any grudges, misfeelings.

Does the stadium has an ICC clearance for holding international matches?
What is the present condition of the stadium?
PCB can certainly start playing regional one day and QEA trophy here

All that is true but where does the financing come for new developments? That is the primary reason for the current stadium conditions across Pakistan.

Whatever money PCB had remaining to spend on updating facilities at home was being used to pay for holding matches in the UAE. Najam Sethi and co.'s biggest challenge is to find additional revenue streams for PCB and while the PSL is a good one it alone is not enough.

Let Quetta host PSL 4 matches: Nadeem Omar

KARACHI: Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar has requested Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to consider Quetta as one of the venues for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 4 to be held next year.

The PCB and PSL Chairman, Najam Sethi announced on Sunday that cities of Hyderabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar could host matches of next PSL and that the stadiums would be upgraded in time as the board intends to host half of the league in Pakistan next year.

“Quetta should be considered as one of the venues for PSL season 4 because the people of Balochistan deserve to see the stars in action as much as anyone else in the country, moreover, it would create a massive positive impact on the youth of Quetta and the whole province,” said Nadeem hopefully.

“The pitch, outfield, facilities and the whole faculty of Bugti Stadium are outstanding. All it needs is uplifting of the venue like in any other city. I’m sure that stakeholders of Quetta, which include the provincial government and Pakistan Army would be willing to help us with this great initiative,” he informed.

Cricket is a binding force and has given the people of Balochistan a reason to smile. Having PSL matches in Quetta could leave a lasting impression,” said Nadeem and added that he has been in talks with all major stakeholders of the region and has got assurances from them that all the possible arrangements would be made if PSL matches are hosted in the city.

Quetta Gladiators have been one of the best teams in the past three seasons of PSL — ending up as runner-up twice and reaching the eliminator this year.

“Quetta Gladiators have become a huge brand, we’ve played an important role in the success of PSL by putting Quetta on the map. People now recognize Quetta as a force and this is why I believe that Quetta, along with Peshawar deserves to host part of the matches,” Nadeem explained.

“Both people of Quetta and Peshawar suffer a lot and now it’s they should get some innocent happiness by seeing all the stars play in their own stadiums. PSL in Pakistan can’t be completed without having Quetta and Peshawar as host cities as well.”

Meanwhile, Nadeem also praised Najam Sethi’s role in making PSL a sustainable and successful brand.

“Sethi has done a wonderful job in making PSL what it is today. He had the courage of going ahead with the league when even people in PCB were against it. He brought it to Lahore and now even Karachi which clearly shows that he delivers,” observed Nadeem.

“He has now announced to host half of the league’s matches in Pakistan and we all support this decision. PSL is in safe hands and our support is with Sethi to make this league bigger and better.”

Furthermore, Omar advised PCB to only put in the names of those foreign players in the PSL draft who are willing to play in Pakistan.

It should be recalled that Gladiators suffered recently when their star player Shane Watson and medium fast-bowler Ben Laughlin did not come to Pakistan after committing earlier.

“No matter how bigger a player is, if he is not willing to play in Pakistan, PCB shouldn’t include his name in the league for next season. We have already sacrificed a lot and foreign players need to stand up for the sport as well. Also, PCB should make stricter payment terms for foreign players because they get 75-80% of the payment before PSL ends, which makes it too easy for them to turn their backs on us,” he stated.

It is bugti stadium.
Ayub stadium is a football stadium near bugti stadium.
P.s: i live in quetta

Totally agree with Nadeem Omar. Must be ambitious

Peshawar and Quetta need security clearances before they can hold matches.
If we are planning to host PSL5 in Pakistan then
Apart from Karachi, Lahore and Multan hosting their games in respective cities IU can host their games in Pindi cricket stadium, one between Quetta and Peshawar can do it in Faisalabad. We need to built another stadium maybe in Gwadar or Abbottabad. Can Jinnah stadium Sialkot be used till then, cant say.

Yup, we only have 4 stadiums capable of holding games at the moment(Karachi Lahore Phindi Multan), 2 more from other cities will need renovation.

Yes, the plan to bring the entire PSL back home to Pakistan requires a minimum of atleast 8 stadiums being fully up and running with modern facilities. These cricket grounds also need to be close to 5 stars hotels.

3 story building, Should be complete before the next edition as the contract is for 1 year, work started in August 2018.

PCB BoG have approved the proposal to commercialise Bugti Stadium, Quetta.
