Azeem Rafiq accused of sending 'creepy' messages to teenage girl six years ago

Far from the truth. I'm a member at Lccc, because of Azim rafeeqs experiences at Yorkshire, every county will have to revise player pathways which will enable players of ethnic minorities to continue in the system without obstacles which clearly were apparent.

Great news. Im glad to hear that some change has started to come in already.

Rafiq took a stand against racism but it turns out that he himself holds racist views against Jews and blacks.

So why should not be exposed as a fraud and a hypocrite that he is?

The establishment will remain the establishment when frauds and hypocrites take a stand against them because it doesn’t take long to expose them.

For institutional racism to be tackled, real and genuine people who have been victims of racial abuse need to stand up and make their voices heard, and their struggle will have a significant impact.

Rafiq’s fight against racism crashed harder than his cricket career not because of the evil establishment but because he is a fraud and a hypocrite.

So how should we regard your views on PP in light of the fact you have on more than one occasion described British Pakistanis as second class citizens on account of their skin colour? If Rafiq was a racist, at least he has acknowledged it. Will you do the same?

By the some ex offenders also make the best role models to youngsters.

Can you show me your evidence that no Asian cricketer respects women?

Shahid Afridi himself said women's are only good for kitchen . Razzaq made sexist comments about women cricketer not so long ago.

My Indian friend, you do realise that a couple of Pakistani individuals don't represent the whole of Asian male diaspora? I wonder why you would think they do?

Azeem Rafiq being racially harassed is one issue.

Azeem Rafiq being a anti semite or his other immoral acts is another issue.

Lets not mix them up.

My view is only about certain individuals cricketer not about whole asian diaspora.

But my Indian friend, you replied to a post which was asking to show evidence that no Asian cricketer respects women. Don't play cute, if you believe something, back it up otherwise admit your mistake.

Is that everyone though?

Their views don't represent all Asian cricketers though do they.

Everyone is racist. That includes me as well. Why pretend and act moral on the Internet? It is the easiest thing to do.

For example, how many Pakistani people here, including British Pakistanis, would happily marry their son/daughter to a Nigerian or a Somalian?

Anyone who says that they will have no issues is a big liar.

There are millions of other examples as well where race/ethnicity/religion etc. will matter. So yes, everyone is racist and discriminates based on the prejudices that they carry.

So yes, I have no shame in admitting that I, like you and everyone else on this forum and around the world, am a racist.

It is not possible for anyone of us to be complete impartial and ignore the race/religion/ethnicity factors in most situations and circumstances.

This is why all these anti-racism movements are a load of crap and I have no time for any of this. People who pretend to stand up for racism are racist in their own rights. Those who stand up for BLM might not be racists towards blacks but there are other races that they would be racist too.

I am a racist, you are a racist, everyone else is a racist. The only difference is that who we are racist to varies from person to person and culture to culture.

How many of us on this forum racially abuse Nigerians/Somalians in public? How many of us on this forum are in a position of power to neglect or deny Nigerians/Somalians equal opportunities?

So are you saying / implying that it is okay to be racist in private as long as you do not racially abuse in public?

Speaking of position of power, let’s say that you are an HR manager. You are required to choose between two candidates - a Pakistani and a Nigerian.

Both are equally qualified and experienced. There is nothing between them. Who will you choose? You, like me and every other Pakistani on this forum will choose the Pakistani candidate and this is racism.

Azeem rafiq can do what he likes in his spare time
As long as its not illegal its noone else business

You are entitled to hold personal views. You are entitled to not want your children to grow up and becoming homosexual even if it is socially acceptable. What you are not allowed to do is publicly abuse, isolate and hurt the sentiments of homosexuals. That’s where the line is, and we are talking about this line being crossed in regards to racism.

Let’s say I do prefer to hire the Pakistani because apparently that’s what all of us would do here, is that your justification to why white people are hired over brown people in cricket? Because at first your argument was that these brown people complaining about racism are not as good as their white counterparts, and therefore cry racism to hide their failures. Make your mind up first!

What the hell are you on about?

If you are hetrosexual and a Nigerian man comes up to you and propose to you and you say no? That makes you racist?

The problem is though once he made those allegations, those on the receiving end were always going to get their people to dig deep to find anything they could on him.

And whatever they could find was going to make the news given the high-profile allegations he made against quite a few big names.

Is racism a “personal view”? So you will be okay with people like Vaughan, Lloyd, Ballance etc. looking down on Asians as long as they don’t do so publicly and don’t act on it?

The issue that it is not possible to separate your personal views from your workplace behavior. If you hold racist views against a group you will inevitably act on it at work if such a situation arises.

If you hate black people, sooner or later, your hatred will show at work.

Yes, you are correct. This is my justification of why white people are preferred over brown people in the English cricket circuit.

Frankly speaking, unless the brown player is far better than his white competitor, he will not be preferred.

For example, Moeen Ali is a rubbish cricketer, but he is the least rubbish spin bowling all-rounder that England have had over the last decade, and that is why he has been pretty much the first-choice Test spinner for England since that coward Swann ran away like a chicken in the middle of an Ashes series.

And that is normal everywhere. Do you think a Shia, Ahmadi, Christian, Hindu or Sikh would get preference over his Sunni counterpart unless he is considerably superior? No he will not.

Pakistanis are such hypocrites that they will support the systematic discrimination against minorities in Pakistan but will play the victim card in the West and demand equal rights.

They will cry about the systematic racism in English cricket but will not focus on the racism (gender discrimination) in the constitution of Pakistan that clearly stays that a non-Muslim cannot be the head of state.

Asians are delusional if they think they will get equal rights and recognition in the west. No, that will never happen. That is not how the world works. There is not a single racism free country / society in the world. It is humanly impossible.

Is that everyone though?

Their views don't represent all Asian cricketers though do they.

And Shahid just said that; he can impose whatever rules for his women in his own house..
Azeem has gone creepy af.. I am pretty sure many players can get rolled into this. Anyone remembers IPL nights.. By looks of it, everything pervertish act could have happened there

Firstly, you cannot control anyone’s personal view. You cannot control what goes on in the mind of each and every person. Education is important, but freedom of thought is right everyone holds regardless of how educated they are.

Acting maliciously on your thoughts in order to cause harm, physical, emotional or mental is something that must be controlled from a societal aspect. Otherwise there will be anarchy and disorder.

You answer/admit that the brown cricketer has no choice but to be better than his white counterpart. That is the institutional racism that needs to be removed. In case you do not realise, the brown cricketer who is born in this country, goes to the same schools, hospitals, after school clubs and social spots like his white counter is as English/British as his white counterpart. Therefore, he cannot and should not be judged by his colour, nor should have have to be twice as better than his white counterparts in order to belong.

Moeen has been treated very poorly by England, not been given equal treatment.
If you look at peoples journalists views he has suffered also comparatively, not a good example to use as a baseline for racism arguments.

All societies are racist in someway and I would say sexist also.
120 years ago in the UK did women have the same rights as now?
Cultural environments differ to what people think.

Societies mature at different speeds and all are heading towards more equalality but to resolve an issue quicker it has been bought into the foregraound as Rafeeq has done.

This is only true if you adhere to white supremacist theory. I don't, obviously you do. Sorry but I don't agree that I am a racist, so don't try to include me in your disgusting circle.

The legal drinking age in the UK is 18

A 26 year old man buying a 16 year old girl drinks, and telling her he wants to kiss her and pin her up against the wall...

What do you reckon, a knock on the door from the plod?

Texting a 16 year old girl like he did was sleazy but it's a bit early to be calling it sexual harassment.

An adult buying a 16 year girl drinks is illegal.

An adult who alleges he was forced to drink alcohol at 15, happily plying a 16 year old girl with drinks is uber sleazy and illegal.

I'm pretty sure the plod could knock on his door tomorrow and question him, if they were so inclined.

It is illegal to buy alcohol for someone under 18 in a licensed premises...

Not condoning the allegation She admits to saying she was 17yrs of age to him. They had a drink together she says but theres no indication he got her the drink.

Nothing illegal happened here

According to Mamoon everyone is racist. I guess there’s no point in taking a stand against racism then guys. Let’s allow racist culture to exist and grow.

Lol at Moeen being treated poorly by England. He has been given way more chances than he deserves.

And who cares about journalists views? Plenty of white players in various different sports are treated unfairly by the journalists. Moeen isn’t the only one.

Good people are not creepy racists, Azeem has failed the character test.

I wasn't talking about Rafiq, there are other people who aren't Azeem Rafiq actually. Some of them are good people, and yes they will fight racism. If they didn't, we would still have black people barred from restaurants in America.

A very valid and important point.

I've had a few guys say to me today, this is why we didn't want to speak up because they would start digging up all sorts of stuff about us and our families.

Exactly. its called victim shaming. its why MeToo took so long to happen in the US because there was a disbalance of power.

I am surprised how many people are presuming this report is true (not to say its fake) when considering the circumstances and the source.

Irrespective, Azeem past, good or bad, doesn't cover comments made by Vaughan, Ballance and others.

The problem we have is this man is claiming institutional racism which is true there is, however his claims are dubious.

I was hoping when this news broke out that he would be of good character to push our narrative however he is an opportunist who riding the wave of a genuine issue.

Forced to drink? Please, this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Again, I am not here to defend Rafiq, there is a much wider issue and that is what I am talking about.

Look at the chances given to given Bell, Ballance compared with asian players.... there is a disparency with how long they can not perform but get away with it.

Moeen messed around very badly.... one bad series then he left out whilst other can have two or three....

Correct, we all have our own prejudices and a sense of superiority over others, anyone that denies it is a pretender.

Back to thread, Azeem has been exposed as a terrible person but that should not excuse the issue at hand, the institutionalised racism Asians face in England. He has done a good job getting some coverage for the cause and even if it doesnt end up benefitting him, I hope it benefits future generations of Asians growing up in England.
