What's new

Azhar Ali averages 66.11 in Tests over the last two years; higher than both Joe Root and Virat Kohli

When Kohli scores

> Pitches become flat
> Did India win the match? No? Doesn't count!
> He scored runs at a crazy average away? against a good attack? Still doesn't count! He failed in England.

I think the only objective critique that any Pakistani batsman can have vs. his Indian or Australian counterpart is the number of chances the latter will get vs. Pakistan. Pakistan goes to play Australia once every five years for three tests and then hosts them for two tests in UAE. So it will never be a fair comparison

Not as good as kohli, root or Williamson but there shouldn't be any doubt about the fact that he's a great Test batsman.

I really love his old style risk free batting in test cricket. Every team needs a player like him who can take the shine off the new ball and at the same time can score some daddy hundreds.

Please not call williamson better than him in tests, williamson fails whole year while he improves whole year and now I put my money on him to score big even in south africa while williamson bash zimbabwe in 2016 but still just scores 695 runs in 10 tests while azhar scores about 1100 runs in 11 tests

This is a laughable comparison. This is why stats don't mean everything. Anyone with a sane mind knows Azhar is not better than these three.

He''s better than root and Williamson inmho..when root hits a double against India in India I'll rate him..for me azhar is better than all of them bar kohl in tests because he doesn't play at home and never has..he already has good scores in England and Oz and only SA remains..these are the equivalent of root getting big hundreds in India or UAE while playing from Germany. .

People need to never underestimate what asad and azhar have achieved..no Pakistani has played under that pressure..just ask Trescothick and trott about mental health when playing away etc..

Azhar is improving drastically but still has some catch up to do with Root and Williamson. Purely on numbers, Root and Williamson average 48+ and 45+ in Asia while Azhar averages 36 outside Asia.

He is doing very well but Root and Williamson are 6 years younger too so they have time to peak and improve their record further.

got a rough decision today. Was looking solid for another good hundred.
