Babar Azam and Haris Sohail : Best batting duo in the world?

Across Tests and ODIs, in the middle-of-the-road, there is no other pair that eclipses Babar-Haris. These guys are complete batsman individually (vs spin, pace, defending, attacking, rotating strike, etc.), and when they bat together, there is no chance for the opposition. It reminds me of the Younis Khan-Mohammad Yousuf partnerships or Kumar Sangakkara-Mahela Jayawardene. From current teams, only Williamson-Taylor comes close, but Ross Taylor is past his prime.

With Babar Azam easily a Top 3 bat in the world, and Haris the 2nd best in Pakistan, these two will make Pakistan an elite team again and help establish a batting culture that has been lacking.
 
No, best in the history of mankind, we are seeing some ridiculous thread lately. Utter non-sense.
 
Individually top class players. Not sure if their Partnership is as aesthetically pleasing

I think they will play better on truer batting wickets too compared to the UAE.
Babar should be in at 5, leaving shafiq where he does well

And here we go with the premature hyping. Right on cue, happens after one innings. I'm a fan of both but hold your horses people.
 
Our fans truly have no shame. 1 good day and we are backing to over hyping our players. Even if we win this series, there are serious issues in our test team which will need addressing.
 
A very bumpable thread. If they are indeed the best then Pakistan them should be climbing ICC rankings in the next 6 months in tests and ODIs.

Good players, but need to show more and more consistently.
 
We always have the best players in the world according to our fans , why are we 7th in tests and 5th in ODIs if we have so many world class players? Our fans honestly have no shame. How many match winning partnerships against top teams do these 2 have ? 1 good day is enough to be the best in the world for our fanbase.

No diplomacy, no attention seeking, no point scoring, no 'who will bump this thread' if these 2 fail, no fear of ridicule. Just straight to the point of what he feels.

Yes its a tall claim but I appreciate such threads where Pakistani fans are behind Pakistani players. 100 times better than self hating and attention seeking.
 
They have the potential for sure, but this thread is hyping them up a bit too much.
 
They're so good, may have even surpassed the dynamic duo of Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad.

Okay, fine. You converted me. This pair is extremely dynamic. They have the capability to murder good bowling attacks. They can play pace and spin.

Now if you add Shan Masood to the ODI mix our batting line will be the next big thing. So you will have Shan, Fakhar, Babar & Haris. I reckon number 5 onwards batsmen may not even get a chance to bat in the ODI team. Next WC is ours!

First part is correct, but the second part is delusional. Masood has not even debuted yet and you are jumping to conclusions. Relax bro don't be cocky.
 
Best batting duo? Mmmmm not gonna jump on that boat just yet. At the very least let's see what happens in SA. But yea I'm excited for what these two could potentially bring to the table.

I am sorry bro only KW and Taylor count, but Taylor is a bunny v.s. spin and is past his prime.

Smith and Warner are banned, plus they're not a middle-order duo

Rahane isn't good enough for ODIs.

De Kock bats at 7 in Tests, plus Amla is declining at an alarming rate. And they are openers.

Bairstow opens in ODIs and he is not even a sure starter in their XI.

Babar-Haris is the best in the world. And you only supported this claim by failing to prove me wrong.
 
One century in UAE has made them the best! So easy to be the best! Haris doesn't play ODIs regularly, Babar's record in tests is very poor, Haris has just played one if the most boring negative batting in modern day cricket, how they are the best ?

This is not Haris' first century.

And he does plays ODIs regularly, he was out due to injury. His last 18 innings: 60, 13, 63, 50, 52, 89, 52, 44, 51, 41, 3(ro), 70, 0, 27, 36, 6, 23 & 89*. Average 43. Babar averages the 68 in Tests this year. Better than every batsmen! In Dubai, you have to play slow.
 
To be frank, too early to say these things unless they play for a while and perform with same consistency over the years. There was Sachin- Dravid, Sachin-Sourav etc but again they played for years together scoring runs in both formats they played. These two have just started being regulars and they need to take this form to all countries they play in. If they can do that then they can stake claim. SA tour will be a start.
 
There is no other duo other than Batman and Robin and even they aren't fit to shine the shows of this DUO, Pakistan is an elite team with world class ELITE players all through the team. We need to just hand them the best DUO in the universe.
 
Please stop. Let them play together for at least another 2 years. There is definite potential, but no need to hype them up as the best in the world right now.

Agree! And there are more potential super stars warming the bench right now. Can't wait for Sahibzada Farhan to debut and take the world by storm.

They Used to compare Umar Akmal,Shehzad to Kohli
Last year Azhar Ali was also compared to Kohli in tests
Now most of them think Babar is better than Kohli so it's not surprising for me to see them making such claim

They compared Umar Akmal to Kohli when both of them were nobodies in International cricket. I don't think anyone compared them since around 2012. No one with any sense compared Shehzad to Kohli, anyone who did was probably trolling. Azhar Ali being compared to Kohli in Tests was a big, fat joke though. And some of the Pak fans even for it :))
 
What? For how long have the two batted together? Started doing it just a couple of months back! Let them bat together for at least 12 months before reaching such conclusions.

Some of the Kiwi, English and perhaps BD pairs are definitely better (may not be playing T20s together though).

When they score 8-10 hundreds together, we'll talk.
 
Both are vital for Pakistan in Tests & ODI's. Babar at 3 & Haris at 4 will end the fragile middle order batting.

So you can be a batting pair if you bat in the middle order and if you play 2 formats :))?

Bairstow does play ODIs. He's a regular.

Rahane is better test batsmen than Babar and Haris.

So what if De Kock bats at 7 in tests ? Him and Amla are a better LO pair than Babar and Haris.

Taylor past his prime ? He was still scoring against us in the ODIs.
