What's new

Babar Azam didn’t come out to bat even with eight overs left in a crucial match against Namibia - What's this the point of having him in the team?

Babar Azam didn’t come out to bat even with eight overs left. Was that the right decision?

Everyone's reading too much into it. We were 107/2 at 12.1 overs. It's clear that if we're already sailing and the team thinks we need to keep the momentum we'll change the batting order. Babar really is meant to steady the ship like he needed to against India. He failed then, but that's his role and it looks like we're going to stick to that as the team's strategy.

And please do not touch the top 3. It destabilizes everything and I'm pretty sure Salman has enough guts to stick to his conviction. Farhan, Saim and Salman are the top 3 no matter what for the rest of the tournament.

Tactically I'm actually okay with this decision. After a good start with 8 overs left and plenty of wickets sending the sloggers in was actually a smart idea.

Babar could play his current role but it probably makes sense to open with Farhan and Babar and have Saim drop down to 4 because of his form.
You know Babar stats in WT20 as an opener?

I will only start talking Pakistan seriously in this tournament if they show me the they’re serious. We are carrying a lot of baggage just to keep certain groupings happy.

There is simply no space for babar and shaheen for sure. And there is also no space for both Shadab and Nawaz - both cannot play together in the same XI.

Faheem as much as he saved us in the first game, either bowls some overs or pick Naseem Shah. These are the strategic decisions that should be discussed not this endless debate about 2 high profile duds.

I'm not sure if there is much else as embarrassing as this for someone who is supposedly considered a top batsman. Your own head-coach taking to the media about how much of a risk-averse coward you are.

It's pretty obvious that Hesson knows what Babar is in this format. He is aware of the numbers and he is aware of the output. Then why the hell does he continue selecting him in the playing XI? You have Fakhar on the bench. You can move Nafay up the order... it's not like they could possibly do any worse than Babar. Even if Babar scores runs you question if they are worth it because they come at such a slow rate that they completely suck the momentum out of the innings.

It’s a political thing, and a move to appease administrators & the media; he knows it’s better this way to keep pressure off the team and also keep his job, Hesson’s a bit more savvy with the Pakistani set-up than Kirsten/Gillespie were. It’s a sad state of affairs that they have to carry Babar in the team like this, if Babar was a decent human being he would have retired from T20I’s before the WC. Hesson has done his best to neutralise the impact of a potential Babar innings however.

Overall we’ve been much better than last time & have a team plan/vision even if flawed, the prior WC was so terrible that Pakistan have already done well imo But the media will be out for blood regardless.

They are being forced to play Babar but the leadership has found a way to try and neutralise his lack of impact, Shaheen got dropped as well after being useless. Fakhar ideally should come in but that wont happen.

Other than that, with the current team they need to be flexible with their plans and how they use strike spinners & learn from our 2010 campaign. They can’t trust the team to chase 150+ and need to be more positive with the ball.

I think all of them are either stupid, outdated or disingenuous. No sane person can recommend Babar to open in T20s.

The players can only say so much, the coach took it upon himself to bury Babar & the tainted ‘journalists’ who keep repeating the same questions.

Salman Agha has also manipulated Babar quiet well by dropping the same chat-up lines as Molvi Saab, Babar is so gullible and insecure that he has fallen for it and this allows Agha & Hesson to have real talk outside the loop and then on the pitch whenever Babar drops the ‘But why yar’ face, Agha can just yes bro, Naughty Mr. Hesson at it again, you’re the second coming off WG Grace for sure.

Babar is not even good enough to play for some of the associate teams we have had this year, those who still support Babar even after this have lost it completely, I wouldn’t even pick Babar to play in the Birmingham Premier League. T20’s have evolved so much but we are still stuck in the 1980’s.

It’s not like babar is completely innocent in any of this
I remember him laughing with his opponents at azam khan while he was batting with him as captain ,basically chucked him under the bus and he hasn’t played in a t20 tournament since forget about a t20i

Even some of the babaristas are crying to put him out of his misery.

Its an absolute disgrace how our young players with promise are being treated to keep baby babar and his overgrown cry baby fans happy.

We’ve already destroyed Hassan Nawaz. Khawaja Nafay has one game, plays a bad shot and is dropped. And this loser (as well as others) play bad shots, disgraceful, selfish innings and are kept in the name of “experience”.

I don’t want that “experience” and no one in the world will benefit from this loser “experience”

This shameless should retire from T20
Occupying no 4 slot of Hassan nawaz

Yes this is true - much better than last time and one of the reasons why - we finally have an opener who will take advantage of the power play.

It can be a very competitive if the right XI play.
