Azhar Ali speaking after training session today

"We know that the game has moved on (in terms of high scoring) and we are working on it and we have seen some good results in the recent past, and Inshallah we will be playing with the same pace as the rest of the world is doing"

"Its upto the team management and captain to decide whether Fahim will be given a debut against India or not"

"The whole squad has very talented players and everyone has the ability to perform"

"Everyone is fit at the moment; Wahab had a little bit of a problem but he has started to bowl today so hopefully he will be ready to go for the first game"

"All teams are expected to do well in all aspects (batting and bowling) of the game"

"India's bowling has improved a lot compared to some time ago and they have a good bowling attack"

"We know of their strengths and we are prepared for that"

"In the recent past, India have been bowling really well, even in Asian conditions"

"They are a very good bowling side and their fast-bowlers have really improved"

"Pakistan India games are very exciting to watch and hopefully we will see a very good game"

"It will be a very good atmosphere"

"When the India-Pak game starts, it looks very normal as the players are playing based on whatever the situation demands"

"Professional players mould themselves into the situation instead of worrying about who they are playing against"

"We have decided to take the game as a normal game and every international game does not come easy for you and you have to work hard for it; so the India Pakistan game is just like that"

"I am feeling good about my fitness and form"

"I really want to go in the middle and perform for Pakistan"

"ICC tournaments dont happen that frequently so its a great opportunity for players to prove their mettle"

"I am expecting that wickets will be good for batting as we have seen high scoring games in practice games"

"In England if there is a little moisture or overcast conditions then it assists the bowlers"

"Babar Azam is a key player for us in the upcoming game based on his runs during last year and this year"

"If you put the weight of expectations on your own shoulders then you will place unnecessary pressure on yourself"

"Every game gives you an opportunity to perform and I will do my utmost to execute my skills in the game"

"Wahab has done a good recovery in the last couple of days"

"I have practiced a little with the sensor bat and if I feel comfortable then I will use it in a match situation"

"Every player who plays for his country wants to give his best for the country so I think both teams will try to do the best for their country"

"Both sets of fans should just enjoy the game"

"I know that there are expectations on each set of players from their countrymen and we will do out utmost to fulfill those"

A lot of questions centered around whether Pakistan can face India in the field (As in guts) - silly stuff from our journos

I think Azhar Ali himself is a better player than Babar Azam.

Makes me sick seeing him in a green shirt

Him and Shezhad are the worst opening combination by some distance

When I was growing up in the 90s the journalists would ask the Pakistani players what they need to do to avoid defeat against India. Now the journalists ask the players what they need to do to be victorious.

How times change

Journalists really contribute to the culture if meekness, really wish they would shut up or ask less demeaning questions. If you're a Pakistani reporter at least ask questions that would low key help morale but still get quality material.

From the looks of his interview it is certain that all four Azhar shehzad hafeez and wahab will play against India and gift Indians the match on a platter.

Putting unnecessary pressure on Babar , should just focus on improving his own game.

What is this sensor bat??? Sounds interesting...

I have no doubt in his integrity and his dedication towards Pakistan cricket. He absolutely wants to play a fast-paced, modern-day game.

Problem is, he is limited and is unable to do so.

Best case for us is, he tries smacking every ball and ends up with a 20 (16), successfully connecting 5 times and then holing out in the powerplay. That would be great.

Azhar is a good/hardworking guy. He just doesn't have the strokes and ability to play the modern game.

I am his biggest fan but he must be benched on Sunday.

Hatred is undue on him.. his ability may be questioned.. but with hardwork he can be 125 strike rate with averaging player. We dont need everyone having the ability of cross batted hoicks towards mid wicket.
