This boy can't hit six but has a good temperament and can rotate strike. More often he gifts his wicket in 40s trying to slog in T20 International matches. However, best of luck to the Young Superstar in making!

Brilliant T20 player despite not being a good slogger.

Out of 31 balls, he played just 2 dot balls today and out of those 2 dot balls, 1 was his wicket ball.

Now compare that to our previous no. 3 (Hafeez) and applaud the management to discard Hafeez and investing on Babar at no. 3.

Thank God Shehzad didn't get it. Well done Bobby

:salute

Very good player. He has the gift of timing. Needs to improve his strength. Add a little power to it, he can launch sixes with ease.

No, that will make him a poorer test player. I'd rather he become a great test batsman than the best T20 player ever.

Will end up the second best batsman produced by Pakistan after Miandad, but you have to remember how short boundaries were this series when judging batsmen and bowlers.

Agreed.. He needs to provide this sort of innings in ODIs against top teams. less dots, rotation of strike.

Century in Australia, averages 56 in five innings against them, 83 in NZ.

Which top teams has he not performed against minus Indian in a couple of matches? 37 average against England in ten matches is good, not amazing, but good.

I find our best prospect who has been consistently great at such a young age has been met with the most scrutiny. Not sure why.

Sensational comeback after a shocking CPL - hard to explain his shortcomings there. Hope someone can help me out with this because the only thing I can think of is the fact that the pitches were too slow to suit his orthodox, sweet timing esque kind of batting style.

Class act and only going to get better. Has that rare combination of timing and placement against pace and spin. Very exciting prospect and I hope he continues to work hard on his game.

Having said that, he should be prepared for more sterner tests to come.

Credit where it's due.

Played extremely well and maintained a good SR throughout his innings rather than starting slowly and trying to go gung-ho towards the end.

44.33 average with a 75 SR. Sure, batted slowly, but this "shocking" hyperbole needs to go away.

It's easy to forget how young he is. Assuming he puts the work in, he will only get better with time which should mean he will develop his six-hitting ability.

He said CPL, not CT.

Babar had a poor CPL: 5 matches, total of 79 runs, average 15.80, at a S/R 83.15.

Shocking is the right word for it (and I say that as a fan).

Played a grand total of two dot balls today, one of which was his wicket-taking delivery. Shehzad cannot play an innings like that even if he was born five times over.

Unfortunately, Shezzy's place in the team is confirmed for another 2-3 series as a result of today's innings :(

you can tell for Babar playing at Lahore was something he relished and the conditions suited his batting and he was used to them. Definitely one of the players who would do even better if Paks intl.cricket was played in Pakistan. Best ive seen Babar play in the T20 format

Best batsman in Pakistan and he hasn't even reached half his maximum potential yet

Amazing player great series for him I wonder what that thread about Babar Azam is where all these posters were saying he lacks impact, gotta try and find it.

Very happy for him. People were saying how he was not a T20I player based on CPL form but leagues are not a good way to assess someone's international credentials. All 3 innings in this series were superb, the pitches may have been flat but it still requires hard work. Hope he can become a gun player in all 3 formats

Thats a classy statement

It is extremely unlikely that he won't end up as the highest run scorer for Pakistan in shorter formats.

He's developing nicely. Credit to Mickey for having the courage to promote him to 3. Also credit to Babar for working on his game and also trying to improve his fitness.
