Babar is one the best bats in the world, but with his lack of power hitting he struggles to finish matches off. And the recent concluded odi match is a prime example of it

Haider has all the shots and his power hitting is on another level as compared to a 5 year experienced Babar.

So, who’ll be a better match winner, no doubt Babar will always be ahead in terms of stats.

Also Haider’s role model is Rohit and Babar plays a lot like Kohli. So will it be like Rohit vs Kohli

Also PZ is struggling to find a captain, I wouldn’t be surprised if Haider leads PZ in a year or two

Stupid thread to compare the captain with a guy who’s played 5 games.

If haider is still in the team in 3 years then we can talk At the moment babar is so far ahead that any comparison is laughable

Good thread OP but premature. Let’s return to it in 5 years time.

Although I have a feeling this may be cited Many times.

Haider is the natural match winner that Babar needs. Just like Afridi was the natural match winner Wasim, Inzimam and Younis khan needed

Let's allow Haider to develop before comparing him with proven players at international level .

Lets hope haider doesnt turn out to be another afridi with the bat

He should be setting his sights a lot higher than a mid 20s avging slogger

You underestimate the value of Afridi the cricketer. He did things that would win you games. Haider can do this for us as long as he remains grounded

Two different kind of players who different roles they have cant compare them

Strange comparison tbh. Haider's played 7 list A games including 2 ODI and has accumulated 37@80 type of stats. Babar purely in International ODIs is showing 56/87 after 77 ODIs which is leagues ahead of what Haider has accomplished in his career. In 27 career T20s Haider's averaging 31@155 while Babar's around 44@127ish.

There's a lot of difference in their roles, how they approach the game, & their tangibility in situations. Therefore comparing both batsmen would give a flawed impression on either player.

Really good to see you back.

Need some statistics based post from you as before to add context to a lot of narratives that make their way to this forum.

Afridi did win games on his own.but haider ali will win even more games on his own

This is why I don’t think it’s the correct question. Babar is a great player to lay foundations for a win but he will need the extra effort by players such as Haider Ali and Harris Sohail to win you the big games against the top sides.

Exactly babar role is different to Haider one shouldn't compare the two.as for haris if he was fit he would be automatic selection but based on his fitness I wouldn't have him in the team

I do occasionally check PP whenever there's a tournament/game going on, particularly for keeping up to date with news on PCT however, it's just that work's been quite overwhelming in the last 2 odd years, so much so that I rarely get any time to post here. I have a few things that I might share in a day or two pertaining to this new lot vis-a-vis with who we might've debuted in the last decade :)

Babar needs to finish the game as Imad said:

"The only thing I want from Babar is to finish the game, because once he starts doing that, he will be unstoppable; He is one of the top players of the game but he also knows that he has to learn to finish the game; That is something in his mind and he did that well against Zimbabwe although he couldnt do it one of the T20Is but having said that, he is now heading to become one of the greats of the game"
