I'm not a big Babar fan but rarely do i compliment him. However, on this occasion i will say he deserves praise for how he won the last test match. The declaration for both first & second innings along with bowling Numan/Fawad back to back so he can grab the new ball quicker to polish the tail. It will be a stupid and senseless move to relieve him and it's neither the time to discuss it.

If he is upset, he should go and tell them. Ask why he wasn't informed about the squad, whether it was Ramiz's team or Mohammad Wasim's team. But to fair Asif Ali & Khushdil Shah aren't great additions to the squad but neither are Sharjeel Khan, Faheem Ashraf or Fakhar Zaman (in UAE). Usman Qadir should have been in the team as he is a better spinner than Shadab Khan.

Maqsood is definitely worthy of a place in the side.
I simply don't rate qadir and Nawaz is definitely the better option.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Wasim Khan has issued the following statement:
“It has come to our notice that factually incorrect reports are circulating about the Pakistan national squad environment. The squad for the upcoming international assignments has been announced and our captain Babar Azam is fully behind the direction that is being taken.
“On Tuesday afternoon, some of the players had a healthy and positive meeting with former Pakistan captain and member of the PCB Board of Governors, Mr Ramiz Raja, in which there was a consensus on the brand of cricket that needs to be played in the upcoming series and beyond.
“It is important that collectively we get firmly behind the squad so that they have the stability, backing and focus they need prior to going into the ICC T20 World Cup next month.”

As if playing them together will create some magical bonding.Its not rocket science, these two struggle in UAE due to their weakness against spin (specially against finger spinners). Playing them together won't solve that.
I still think Fakhar has utility in the middle order. His slog sweeps are good and can rotate strike against spinners when field is spread not to mention his excellent fielding. But Sharjeel is just liability.

Why protest by Babar now ? Has he not the one bringing back Asif Ali many times.. Has he not the one playing Azam Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, etc.

If we don't perform well in next two series, Babar can lose his captaincy even before the WC. Raja is not messing around.
I think Babar will become an even better batsman once he is relieved of captaincy pressure.

The media/press in Pakistan needs to be held accountable. On most cases fake news are circulated with no remorse or corrections, at the same time the media personnel hounds staff and players and make them tow their line by giving them leaks that leads to short term publicity. If somehow the government of Pakistan can persecute any media outlet at least once on blatant fake news being made headlines then perhaps the others might get in line too.

Usman Qadir did ok when GIVEN a chance but I prefer Shadab ps Babar is unhappy because he is his best friend.. I hope Rizwan becomes the captain soon as Babar is world class player no doubt but not capable of captaining a club side never mind the Pakistani team

[Report] Players meet with Ramiz Raja and raise some concerns / apprehensions
So according to reports - multiple players from the national team have met Ramiz Raja. Ramiz emphasized the need to play “fearless” cricket but the players and staff had a few concerns and apprehensions.
- One player asked about the insecurity aspect when trying to play attacking cricket. He mentioned their spot in the team comes under scrutiny after a few failures and low scores when trying to accelerate. He mentioned if the PCB wants to adapt attacking cricket as a long term strategy - they should also be prepared if the batting collapses to 150 to 200 all out when trying to go for 350 - 400 in ODI’s
- One player questioned the double standards on fitness. The PCB policy is to maintain national fitness standards to be in consideration for national team selection and ir is quite challenging on the players. Hence questions were being raised regarding why exceptions were given for Sharjeel Khan and Azam Khan..
- A few players questioned the attitude of local coaches and staff claiming they are too “judgmental” They claim a players weakness is used as a grudge and they are not given opportunities to rectify those weaknesses.
- One player questioned the role of media and social media driving national selection decisions. The media uses stats and numbers out of context and not taking into account the match situation and it begins to affect how selectors and management view the players

Can't believe it still happens in Pak cricket. There is just no end to this
Same old apprehensions - I wonder if Ramiz and his team have a better way to deal with such concerns. Funny how the player mentions that Misbah came in with the same approach. Yet, we saw Pakistan play a completely opposite form of cricket under him.
I do not think there's an easy fix to these concerns. High risk cricket comes with its frequent failures and the board, along with the media and the public, need to avoid making decisions and opinions in haste; something that you can never expect to happen in Pakistan!

Players are raising legitimate points. If the team is buying into playing an aggressive brand of cricket, the PCB itself needs to buy into the philosophy from top to bottom i.e. domestic cricket to national team. It needs to tolerate a few failures, defeats, even series defeats but give a thumbs up as long as the players are playing the brand of cricket that they have been asked too play.

Tbh its about Attitude. Misbah always played his cricket with the fear of failure. A more aggressive individual like Mccullam will have the opposite approach, perhaps a touch reckless but he will drive home the message, win lose or draw i want you to play aggressively and fearlessly. After 15 years of Misbah infestation as a player, captain and coach, we need the opposite injection now.

I feel like there is a good chance Fakhar and Qadir will end up being in the final squad. Khushdil/Azam/Asif better perform well if they don't want Fakhar to take their spot.

Genuine concerns and points made by the players.
This is also why a larger, grand-plan vision and consistency is required in the higher-ups of PCB. If they want players to play a brand of cricket England plays, well it's not like it happened overnight for them and their cricket is predated on simply not slowing down no matter how many wickets are falling and continuing to attack. It may lead to some ugly defeats but if the plan is long-term, that will ultimately be beneficial.
But I also don't think this can suddenly be implemented in the International level. It has to begin with domestic and players aiming for 350+ in List A or 200+ consistently in T20 and then try to translate that to International level.

Bowling consistently in 140s kph and regularly touching mid and high 140s kph is pretty good pace, not many international bowlers are capable of that. In tests he was still learning to manage his body however, in recent WI tour he bowled quite a few 2nd-3rd spells above 140 kph as well.

Seen another way, the best time to have Babar resign is now, when Ramiz is just entering the den. It would look particularly odd if the resignation happened mid-way through the tenure, when you can suspect a legitimate falling out.

This is going to send morale crashing down in the dressing room. Azam Khan has no right to be in the mix and 99% of Pakistan knows it.
Shaheens bowl at close to 90 in t20s and close to 88 in tests that's not low.
Our newbies #hit their pants if they have to go to a mega event without daddy Hafeez and daddy Malik! The request to include these two is nothing but to calm their fragile nerves!
Babar still doesn't believe that Malik and Hafeez are past it and would rather have both these to coddle him on field than lead a youthful group who will give you much more than these washed up "seniors"

Ofcourse, I am pretty certain the people in the PCB leak this information in exchange for money.
In some private companies in Pakistan, they actually monitor the pvt, official company emails, pvt, company cellphones and keep a close vigilance, check on their employees ie who they meet, where they meet outside the office because sadly a lot of employees are willing to betray their employer secrets to their competitors in exchange for extra money. Sad but this is the reality of how things work in Pakistan
