I think it would be Haris. I saw him in the match against us in WC2015. His shots were treat to watch. He was good against spin and pace.

Whereas Babar has problems against spin I reckon.

He might fail, but not because he's a 'nothing player' as a matter of fact; technically and in terms of talent + application he is the best (YES THE BEST!!) in the team right now. My only worry is that he will most probably find it tough due to virtually no match practice and zero FC experience in the last 3 years.

For me Harris is going to be tough to get out unless he himself throws his wicket away which can only be down to his level of fitness. If Haris can keep himself fit he will be a better test bat than Babar or else Babar will be better.

Everytime I think of Haris Sohail worlcup 2015 match vs India comes to my mind.
He was playing so fluently againsts the pacers (Shami, Umesh, Mohit) as if he would make runs against them even with a blind fold, but the situation changed drastically when Ahwin was brought on and Dhoni took a slip and a leg slip. The guy literally gave his wicket to India against Ashwin.

I feel he is excellent against pace (extremely rare for current Pakistani batsmen), but is AVERAGE(not bad) against spin.

Would be a very good #3 for Pakistani test team, but not sure if he will be good enough if bats low in the batting order.

Babar is the best Pakistani batsman in LOIs, he hasn't done anything substantial in Test cricket as of now, but sure will. OP wants to know who will end up as a better batsman and considering the fact that Haris averages more than 50 in First Class with a solid technique, he has serious potential to be a great Test batsman for Pakistan. Will be a good rivalry.

Babars negative mindset hes showing in test with bat at moment and inability to play spin in longer version means he will struggle.

Sohail in one test so far has shown good technic and tempremant and i think in long run will do better.

I think he has big problem with short ball from from what I have seen , its no big a deal if he can learn to leave those alone in Tests though

Haris Sohail is definitely suited for Tests but when it comes to potential Babar is ahead as he has time to become a better batsman. He will improve with age. Haris as technically been suited to the longer formats. He should have already made his test quite a few years ago. Haris has done well in ONE innings also coming at No.6. I feel like he has what it takes to end Hafeez's career if he improves his bowling. Babar is a massive future prospect specially if you look at how well he's done in ODI cricket and having a coach like Mickey and Flower working with him, its a massive help.

Bookmark this post ~ Babar will do extremely well to average anything between 35-40 in test cricket. From the 10 tests I've seen him play he is not someone that will go big in the longest format.

From what I have seen Babar seems to be too confused in tests. He keeps wondering whether he should play a shot or not. When he tries to hold back his shots he gets bogged down and puts himself under pressure.

Haris in the last match seemed to know exactly which shots he will play and which balls he will simply defend. He didn't drive against the spinners unless it was begging to be hit, he didn't sweep, against the quicks he was confident in his cover drive but simply refused to try a shot against any short delivery. He understood his strengths and played within them throughout the match.

Babar needs to do the same. Understand his scoring areas and defend the other deliveries or work it for an easy single.

I wont rank him above the proven giants but i agree that he is one of the best test players in the world already. People here can say whatever they want but its not the 1 match haris played which has made me believe so. I know it having followed his career in FC. He is going to leave all Subcontinent batsmen behind especially while batting in seaming conditions.

And pujara is an abject failure in seaming conditions. But an absolute monster in spinning conditions. So i am not sure if he ranks that high.
