What's new

Balochistan [212/3] defeat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [323/5] by 4 runs (D/L) in the Pakistan One Day Cup

I assume Sahibzada Farhan is playing today. He has had a decent start to the tournament: 2 matches, 2 well paced 50's. Needs to go to the next level today.

lol @ Sami going in to bat at #6. Amazing how talent simply does not matter in Pakistan and it is all about seniority and politics.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ifti get a longer run in the national side.

because he has been in the top5 run scoring aggregates in the last two domestic tournaments over the last 6 months and he is doing ok here as well.
you have to have a solid reason to ignore successive performances. Bear in mind Sharjeel looked quite hacky when he came to play international cricket.

so why not fawad alam also then

this ifti guy is 35 years old if not 37.....here is his villager in my ward and he saythat him and ifti are the same age ...he is 37 years old...may be he is exagerating it but this guy id definitely not under 32 age...

mnay can argue here..he is 26 oh my GOD..iam 27 offically and real is 29..he looks my elder uncle yaar...

and his age has what to do with selection? i could care less if he is 30 32 34

very intriguing, considering he came in to this tournament having just played 4 list A with an average of 11.5

His stance, the shot he plays pull, cut i find his play mixture of both Faf du plesis and Farhan Behardein. LoL
Bright future ahead of him

because unlike ifti, we have seen enough of fawad alam at international level to know that he need to pick up a new sport.

bro i saw his brain fate in test match against england still cannot forget his terrible shot

I saw it as well. That's too small a sample to judge. I prefer to remember him by his catch in slip of cook off wahab

Must have to feel sorry for Iftekhar. He might have bunked a decade, but he is royally screwed by Inzi - picked in Test side for UK, where he was destined to fail, whereas guy is quite decent LO player. In fact, he came into notice from his LO domestics & picked for Test side.

138* with SR of 101 and 6! sixes!
That is a horrible innings. Makes
MoHa's 88 in 1st ODI look like an ATG score.

Hehe. We must be spoilt for choice with batsmen scoring centuries for fun.

I would rather this Pakistani 26 year old in the national side than a couple of real 25 year olds talunts like Akmal and Shehzad

Nabi Gul looks exciting

Didn't bat today but did well in the last match. Scored 50+ against Durham in an unoffical T20 match with 5 sixes.

Pakistan needs a good no 6

Pete Rose I was showing exactly what I said. An age comparison.

Nothing to do with performances (or lack thereof).

So I havent watched Sahibzada bat in any of the three matches he has played so far. But I am impressed by his numbers so far. Can someone give me another recap of his batting style.

Good timer, Doesn't seem like having issues against pace and can play shots.

Watching him for the first time today. So far, he doesn't look like someone too keen on rotating the strike.

Clear, thanks. Your post showed in a sequence of conversation that I was having with other posters on how his age (real or imagined) should not get in the way of his selection, if he is performing.

Yeah that could be a problem. The strike rate looks good. I hope the shots are clean, not slogs.

But, he can play on back foot through off side against pace - I can count how many in PAK can do that in my fingers.

A shed of Nazir in his off side shot, squire of the wicket.

Your views on him?

Sir I wasn't writing him off or anything. Just noticed his lack of willingness to rotate the strike and pointed it out. You're right about the back foot part. His front-foot goes across a bit before the ball is bowled like Imran Nazir as well.

Too early to say - playing on belters, probably under dew, against 2 40 years young fast bowlers ...... Back lift is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better than Imran Butt.

Looks solid against pace like Sharjeel.

Very good cut and pull. Pounces on anything slightly short

Not taking single isn't the worst crime unless someone does a Shehzad or MoHa - that's consume balls in PP & then get out for 29 (48)

One batsman used to put 3,4 even 6 grips one over other - who is he?

so fakhar cannot play on the off side :shezzy very good drive

Don't look at where the ball went like PAK selectors - look where his follow through ended - any half decent new ball bowler,on slightly helpful condition - moving couple of inch will get him at gully or point.
