Believe me, Pak is well ahead of BD. Being an Indian there is nothing for me to prop up Pak, but Pakistanis enjoy a much better quality of life than Bangladeshis. Gap has certainly reduced in last few years, but Pak is still ahead. BD is all about check thumping in all facets of life, with very little to show in terms of achievements
How can Pakistan possibly claim that its quality of life is higher than Bangladesh with actual objective statistics like:
GDP per capita:
India $2543 (160th out of 216)
Bangladesh $2362 (162nd out of 216)
Pakistan $1562 (178th out of 216)
Literacy rate:
Bangladesh 76% (male 78%, female 74%)
India 74.3% (male 82%, female 66%)
Pakistan 59.1% (male 71.1%, female 46.5%)
Life expectancy at birth
Bangladesh 72.87 (male 71.13, female 74.89), rank 107, just above world average.
India 69.89 (male 68.68, female 71.20), rank 136.
Pakistan 67.43 (male 66.47, female 68.48), rank 148.
Infant mortality rate
Bangladesh 30.5 per 1,000 live births.
India 37.8
Pakistan 50.4
Compared with Bangladeshis:
1. Pakistanis have on average 40% less wealth than Bangladeshis.
2. Pakistan has an illiteracy rate that is 17% worse, and female illiteracy that is 28% worse.
3. Pakistani men die 5 years younger, and Pakistani women die 6 years younger.
4. Pakistani babies die at a rate of 50 per 1,000, compared with Bangladeshi babies dying at a rate of 30 per 1,000.
It's blindingly obvious that from 1947 to 1971, East Pakistan was propping up West Pakistan, and when East Pakistan left we saw the rump Pakistan become a much poorer and more backward country than Bangladesh.
And Pakistan has sunk into a catastrophic one-two of excessive military power and excessive religious influence, either of which are always damaging for any country, but in combination they have turned Pakistan into a Failed State.
