Bangladesh (169/6) defeat Sri Lanka (168/7) by 4 wickets in a nail biting encounter of Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025

While most people are focussing on tomorrow’s game against India, both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are more than capable of beating Pakistan given our inept batting.

Cannot afford to take any team lightly

Bun test. Idgf about that outdated format. But yes agree, and said on other threads theres nothing much between them sides 6-10 in t20s. But some indian trolls will always try to say otherwise!
 
Best match of this Asia cup by far. BD chased superbly. Saif Hassan gave them the start they needed. Tawhid carried it on tremendously. Made it nervy in the end but won it that matters

SRL is still much superior team. We have yet to achieve 1/100 of what SRL achieved in history not even looking back just couple of years ago.

Usman for these conditions can't believe sri lanka have no good spinner than hasranga they got the reality check today sri lanka needed someone better than wellage just not good enough.

SL still Superior team than BD in what ways?


Last two years 2024-2025 thus far. BD v SL played 9 T20 internationals. The result is 5-4 to BD.

Last two years they played 6 ODI’s it’s 3-3.

Far from being superior. Both are quite similar, equal. Of cause the Lankan history is far better, superior and will continue to be unless Bd wins cwc, ct, world t20 and many asia cups! To come nearZ No one doubts that. No need to keep bringing their history up to undermine BD win and recent years good domination over Lanka in T20s

Their history goes back to just 2 years ago lol. They are the defending T20 Champion in Asia Cup.

Last 10 T20s between BD and SL, BD won 5 and SL won 5.


So, last 2-3 years, BD and SL have been equal in T20 format. Even in ODI format (just checked).

BD knocked SL out of 2024 World T20.
BD finished ahead of SL in 2023 WC.
BD made it to CT 2025 and SL didn't.
BD beat SL today.

Since 2023 Asia Cup, SL have been underperforming. 2023 Asia Cup was the last good tournament for SL (where they reached the final).

Yet, after all of that SRL is still ranked higher than BD in all formats. They are #4 now in ODIs.
 

Bangladesh Edge Sri Lanka in Last-Over Thriller to Open Super 4s​

Bangladesh began their Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s campaign with a heart-stopping four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka , sealing the chase with just one ball to spare.

Opting to bowl first, Bangladesh struck early but struggled to contain Sri Lanka’s middle order once captain Dasun Shanaka found his range. After a measured start, Shanaka launched a counterattack, hammering an unbeaten 64 from only 37 deliveries. He shared a brisk 57-run partnership with Charith Asalanka and added a further 32 with Kusal Perera, helping Sri Lanka post a competitive 168 for 7. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the Bangladeshi attack, finishing with excellent figures of 3 for 20.

Bangladesh’s reply began shakily when Tanzid Hasan fell in the opening over, but Saif Hassan and Litton Das steadied the innings with a 59-run stand. Litton’s dismissal for 23 brought Towhid Hridoy to the crease, and together with Saif, he kept the chase on course. Saif’s composed 61 off 45 balls and Hridoy’s fluent 58 off 37 looked set to take Bangladesh home before late wickets injected tension into the finish.

With scores level and one run required from the final two deliveries, Nasum Ahmed nudged a single to spark celebrations in the Bangladeshi camp. Saif Hassan’s calm half-century and pivotal partnerships earned him the Player-of-the-Match award, giving Bangladesh a dream start to the Super 4s and setting the tone for an enthralling next phase of the tournament.

I mean that's fine and all, no one is saying don't be patriot. All the commies are patriot to their own country but this dude isn't a good commie. I have listed to Tamim's commentary before - his voice and accent is much better. BD has one of the highest population on planet earth, there must be 1-2 good commentators from the country other than Athar Ali.

Anyway, I don't think Kohli is a role model. Kohli behaves like an animal. I want BD players to behave like civilized human beings while playing well (someone like Mustafiz).

Athar is the best BD got as of now.

Tamim Iqbal is another option but I am not sure if he is interested to be a full-time commentator.

Other than these two, nobody is good enough or nobody is interested. :inti

Also, Athar has been the flagship BD commentator for around 20 years. I don't think he is going anywhere, unless he retires.

I have several posts over here in near past where I have said that they shouldn’t be in the T20 team in their present form. Show me one post where I have asked they should be returned?
My issue which I have stated several times and would mention it again so idiots like you can understand (chances are very slim though) is that Babar and Rizwan were part of the problem not the problem! And this team is even mediocre than the previous team. You guys are going gaga over the new players and new approach when nothing has changed. Sunil Gavaaskar equated this team to a local town’s team, that’s how bad this team is.

First be realistic, the current team isn’t anything special. It’s not a start of a new era and cut this 12/16 wins crap! I’ll drop Harris, Farhan and Agha. They are not cut for International cricket. I’ll have Saim and Fakhr as openers. I know Saim is struggling but willing to give him a longer rope.

I'm happy to disagree and debate him in a respectful manner if I find he states something I disagree with but I'm no longer going to insult him or even insult his or anyone else arguments cause saying things like
