Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first.

0/0 after 3.3 overs.

Slow start from Zimbabwe.

People are complaining about slow run rate in tests that to after just 5 overs on day 1, now I have seen it all.

This Masvaure has so much potential but no proper support. Really really sad to see that.

If we can't dominate Zimb on our home soil, then we are really a pathetic test side.

zimambwe seem to have genuine quality in their batting stocks and in particular their middle order
Just imagine if they actually got a lot of test match exposure and practice
Bang could easily lose this

Zimbabwe threw it away. They were like 100/1.

BD did well to pull things back. They now have to restrict Zimbabwe to less than 300.

They are mostly tail left, should wrap up within 250.

Taijul is a clueless bowler. When Shakib returns, BD should always go with 3 pacers, 1 spinner, 6 Batsman, 1 all rounder which is Shakib.

I think we should always play 2 pacers at home and 3 pacers in SENA countries.

I would like to see some of the U-19 guys who just won the WC. Get in spinner Rokibul and pacer Shoriful.

sweep_shot, We can always do 3 pacers, 1 spinner, 2 spin allrounders.

Watch this line up: Mahedi cant possibly do worse than Liton or Mithun. He has 44 FC avg with 30 bowl avg.

Bangladesh bowling isnt strong enough for 2 man attack.

1. Tamim
2. Saif/Shadman
3. Shanto
4. Mominul
5. Mushy
6. Shakib
7. Mahedi Hasan
8. Nayeem Hasan
9. Taskin/another pacer
10. Ebadot
11. Abu Jayed

On BD pitches, having 3 pacers is overkill. Only Jayed is quality and rest are hacks.

Even in this game, Nayeem did most of the works.

Sylhet is practically like cheaper version of NZ conditions. BD spinners are just as hack as pacers.

At least this way, players will be ready for Away tours.

We have tried the spinners approach and we are ranked lowest getting even *blown* away by mighty Afganistan.

We rarely play in Sylhet though. Sylhet is like what Peshawar is in Pakistan or what Guwahati is in India. Rarely any international game happens there.

I would love to see more games in Sylhet and Bogra.

My ideal squad:

1) Tamim
2) Saif/Shadman - these two will have to fight it out
3) Shanto - he looked solid vs PAK
4) Mominul - #4 is his natural position
5) Mushfiq
6) Mosaddek
7) Shakib
8) Nayeem
9) Miraz/Taijul/3rd seamer in away Tests (Khaled, Shoriful, Ruyel Miah)
10) Jayed
11) Ebadat

If Khaled or Ruyel get picked, it will be an Sylheti pace attack haha!

Looks like Zimbabwe got bowled out for 265. It is disappointing for them as they were 118/1 at one stage.

Bangladesh started off poorly too. They are now at 18/1.

Should be an interesting day.

Technically, this is probably our best pair. Over the year, Nazmul has improved his technique remarkably, but still his range is ~50; need to convert starts. I don't think BD will like to chase anything over 150 with 5-6 lefties against Sikandar.

240/3 Bangladesh.

Taking control of the match.

BD - 240/3.

Trailing by 25 runs.

Stumps for day 2.

Good day for BD. They should push for 500 tomorrow and then go for innings victory.

500 could be a bit too stressed, but they should reach somewhere around 450 from this position - both Mushi & Momin looked in complete command. A lead of 100+ should be match winning - ZIM was extremely lucky to reach lunch at one down in first innings, not likely to happen next time.

If BD can go that far, I would love to see them go for 600 and then try not to bat again. It can give them a massive confidence boost after some pretty ordinary months.

Now boys can think about batting once in this game. Take a lead over 300, may be 350 and leave 5 sessions for ZIM to survive. Nayeem might end up taking a 10 for here.

On 2nd day morning session Nayeem should have been given the ball to take a 5fer, Taijul was given the chance to take 2 cheap wickets.

Mushfiqur Rahim scored his third double-century in Tests as Bangladesh dominated Zimbabwe on the third day of the one-off Test in Dhaka.

Bangladesh declared when they were on 560/6, shortly after Rahim had reached a 318-ball 203*. In doing so, Rahim became the highest Test run-scorer for Bangladesh with 4412 runs, seven more than Tamim Iqbal’s 4405.

Zimbabwe were then reduced to 9/2 by stumps, a massive deficit of 286, with Nayeem Hasan dismissing both Prince Masvaure and Donald Tripano for nought in the opening over.

Bangladesh resumed the day on 240/3, with Mominul Haque on 79 and Rahim on 32. The two continued batting until, with 394 on board, Mominul, having scored a 234-ball 132, sent one back to Ainsley Ndlovu, who showed good reflexes to hold on.

That brought an end to a 222-run stand for the fourth wicket, with Mominul departing with a 9th Test century to his name. However, at the other end, Mushfiqur, who was on 127 at the time, carried on, determined to reach his second double-century against Zimbabwe.

There was more joy for Zimbabwe when Mohammad Mithun was sent back for just 17, but they once again had to chase plenty of leather when Liton Das walked in. Das sealed up one end and scored a half-century, even as Mushfiqur accelerated at the other.

They added a further 111 for the fifth wicket, bolstering Bangladesh’s lead to dominant proportions. Das was dismissed late in the day – Sikandar Raza claiming the wicket – as Bangladesh looked to score quickly, and once Rahim reached his landmark, skipper Mominul quickly signalled declaration.

Zimbabwe’s troubles then deepened. In the 5 overs remaining in the day, they were reduced to 0/2 within an over, with both Masvaure and Tripano being dismissed for nought by off-spinner Nayeem. He first bowled Masvaure through the gates, deceiving him with subtle turn, and then induced an edge off Tripano that was caught behind.

Kevin Kasuza and Brendan Taylor managed to hang around until stumps, but if Zimbabwe are to get anything out of this match, they will have to bat their hearts out on the fourth day.

He was given few overs but couldn’t get the 5for. They also gave Rahi 6-7 overs to get his 5for, which didn’t happen either.

In this innings, Nayeem might get a 6for. At around 6’ height, if he gets turn on such wickets, he’ll be almost unplayable for ZIM batting on day 5 (4)

Bullying Zimbabwe at home won't really help us much but atleast it's something.

Can we even perform half as good when we face Pakistan next month?

Bullying Zimbabwe is better than getting bullied by Zimbabwe.

I hope that this performance will give them some confidence.

Well done, BD.

This margin could've been bigger had BD not declared so early. They should've batted till 4th day lunch.
