What's new

Bangladesh defeat New Zealand by 5 wickets to win the Ireland Tri-Nation Series

I wouldn't trust this side to chase more than 180 on a pitch with sideways movement.

The amount of bowling depth NZ have is outrageous. Kugelleign and Bennett look like serious bowlers and they're the third string attack!!

On paper, should Bangladesh win this match? Yes or no.

I rate BD well and they're on track for a solid score but these are basically home conditions for NZ if I'm not mistaken. 50 50 game IMO.

Cool to see a tri series being played in Ireland though!!

That is perhaps because Ireland bowling resources are very weak even by associate standards.

True NZ have good backup Pacers.

Home conditions with zero frontline bowlers and 2 spinners.

What's up with the camera angles? Not a fan of them.

On paper it's 50-50 to me. But winning toss hands the advantage to NZ.

However if pitch slows down then Bangladesh should be hot favourites. But hey we need to bat well and score 260-270.

What has that got to do with my comments though lol

Look Ireland's bowling ain't great but its not as bad as you make it seem, it's still better than most associate teams. Hell our bowlers have actually performed creditably well the last 3 games.

Either that or my standards have dropped, cant really blame me

True but who's to say the replacements won't end up being even better? They may well become the regulars in a year or two. The Kugelleign fellow impressed me a lot the last game, dunno why he's dropped.

Bennett has the potential, but IIRC he's injury prone and can be expensive. I'd rather have Boult, Mitch and Milne.

Actually I wanted to tell you about my opinion on Ireland bowling. Disappointing for me as an associate cricket fan

NZ got wickets when it mattered.

The wicket is slow. 250 is par. Bd should get it

Disappointed with Shakib too. He left his team in a bit of a whole. He is a capable player

I have seen a few deliveries nip.

Bangladesh bowlers need to come to the party

Mustafiz has great future!!!! Still batsmen don't have any clue how to score runs in his balls. IPL flop was just a fluke

He only got one game. Bowlers like Trent Boult and Chris Woakes kept on flopping match after match but kept on getting chances. Maybe colour of skin has something to do with it?

What Mustafiz got to do with Trent Boult and Chris Woakes and colour of the skin?

Nz are on their way to chase the target easily unless fizz bowl outstandingly in middle overs

Captaincy of Mashrafee is questionable here.Needed to continue Mosaddek to keep tight at one end.He was bowling beautifully, much better than Shakib. Also need to bring back Mustafizur to take wickets.New Zealand is maintaining the asking run rate at only 5 consistently.Only way to win for Bangladesh is to get wickets at regular intervals. One partnership, they will be home.

NZ weren't even playing their big guns either...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

this thread got dead when nz where on top so typical of ban fans

they are extra emotional on every single game which is why they cannot digest any defeat easily

Looks like Bangladesh will get destroyed in all of their matches in the Champions Trophy. It's also great that Pakistan has their first warm-up match against Bangladesh. Great way to get into form for the Pakistani players.

Good to see our 2nd string players performing well. Fielding effort was disapointing however.

Just saw the scorecard, it seemed like there were lot of new names in the NZ squad and they seem to be missing at least 4 frontline players . I guess NZ dont really need the likes of Boult, Southee, Anderson or Guptill to win a series against BD/Ireland.

We shall come back inshaAllah. Our captain and all the players are fighters.

NZ, BD @ Ireland

Can't find the tri-series thread. Mods, merge it if necessary.

Today BD vs Ire. There would be two more matches for NZ.

Ireland shot out for 181. Fizz leading with 4 wickets. Why didn't he get a fifer, only the Almighty knows. So many swings and misses but no knicks.

Ed Joyce top scored for Ireland with 46. Others who got a start were N Obrien 30, Dockrell 25, Porterfield 22.

Second half of the game will shortly start.

What a garbage performance by the Irish. ICC need to stop wasting resources on the minnow nation.

the chase is on. I mean Chase has started the innings bowling for Ireland. :) BD a Steady but cautious start. 25/0. 5.2 overs.

Ireland is a garbage team that doesn't deserve to host two test playing Nations. Should only be playing with Netherlands and Namibia.

It takes a lot of time to become good especially when you don't have much support from others.

I know it's been 10 years since they started playing the world cup. In their difference they are performing better than Zimbabwe

Here is mine.

We were a rubbish team once upon a time. Through miracle we some how qualified for the WC. Another miracle we beat a mighty Pak team (who went to the finals). Then with POTENTIAL alone, looking at the future, ICC gambled with the support of Ind, Pak block.

We remained rubbish for the next decade, occasionally beating good teams. Cardiff #1 Australia went down in 2005. Indian star-studded super team went down in 2007 WC. Then #1 SA went down in WC second round match. Meaning, while we played and lost most games with the elite teams. We were improving slowly. Cricket was a mental game and we were learning slowly to compete. Then we turned the corner. We beat NZ seven games in a row. Won at WI. Won against SL, our tormentors. At the end, now we can compete with the big boys.

All this happened because the other elite teams continued to play with us when we were garbage as you have put it.

Ireland, on the other hand, are in a much better position than we were back in our early days. THey have a cricketing structure when we had a picnic structure. Just because they are struggling doesn't mean they don't deserve to play against the big boys. That is the only way they will get better, produce better players. The only thing we had going for us was an excellent system for the U-19 WC preparation. That is were we started to produce promising players.

I am certain, Ireland would become very competitive if they are given the opportunity. Cricketing world needs to be patient with them.

Well said bro. These pundits don't understand how developing sides function.

It's easy when you have a structure that has been stable for a long period of time.

Patience is something that is needed

Because these pandits haven't seen their country going through that phase.

There are fewer cricketers in the world who look as classy and dominant like Soumya on song

Good confidence boaster, but we should have won the match against under strength Kiwis. Condition is favoring teams chasing big time, but that shouldn't be excuse to post 256.

You got what you wanted. Bangladesh doing their best to dominate Ireland

Ya.....
I had faith on my boys. They had the first match against Ireland in control before rain took control of everything! My boys didn't play badly either against New Zealand.Just needed some luck while bowling.

Soumya Sarkar is bangladesh's next big thing.. mark my words.. his batting remind me of Sarjeel Khan.. what a timing..

BD thrashed Ireland and Ireland beat Pakistan at the 2007 WC. Therefore BD are the best ODI team in Asia,

Soumya Sarkar is bangladesh's next big thing.. mark my words.. his batting remind me of Sarjeel Khan.. what a timing..

Actually they are completely different. Soumya stands tall while Sharjeel crouches comparatively.

Sharjeel has more muscle power and plays the ball horizontally on the leg side.

Soumya relies on sheer timing.

Sarkar is going to make the Kiwis pay in the next game, watch him score a double ton this time for sure
