Bangladesh dominate Australia in 4-1 T20I series victory

Has Bangladesh ever won a bilateral series against Australia in any format?

If not, they won't get a better opportunity than this.

No, Bangladesh has never won a series against Australia. They've also never won a T20I against Australia (until now), 5th time lucky.
 
Bangladesh has won a Test and Drew a series against Australia at home. This was around 2017.
 
Well played Bangladesh. Just goes to show performances(both LOIs and tests) against the current Australian team should be taken with a pinch of salt these days. :inti

I think Bangladesh can win this series if they have sluggish pitches for the next games. Aussies seemed clueless against spin.

Bangladesh should bring in Mehdy Hassan in next match. Play as many spinners as possible.

I think this current combination is fine.

Nasum, Shakib, and Mahedi (12 overs of spin). Mahmudullah and Afif can bowl spin too.

Mustafiz and Shoriful are fine.
 
I know it is Australia without their main batsmen - Warner Smith Finch and Maxwell, but we too are missing our first choice batsmen such as Tamim Litton Mushy (not that they are great but just saying)

I have been noticing for a while that their 2nd choice batsmen are just outright terrible.

And a lot of folks talking about this series not being broadcasted in Australia because of the quality of the opposition. I mean considering they lost 5 out of their last 6 games, does opposition really matter?
 
Nasum stars with the ball as Bangladesh win first-ever T20I against Australia

Nasum Ahmed's sensational spell of 4/19 helped the hosts defend a score of 131 in Dhaka, helping them take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Australia opted to field and Josh Hazelwood returned with immediate dividends with a wicket in the fourth over. The left-hander, Soumya Sarkar (2), attempted to make room for himself but Hazelwood cramped him for space and chopped the ball onto the stumps.

Bangladesh were off to a conservative start in the first six overs with 33/1. Mohammad Naim did register a run-a-ball score that included two sixes off Mitchell Starc but was clean bowled for 30 runs by Adam Zampa after he attempted to reverse-sweep the leggie.

The experienced pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah were under pressure and needed to stitch a partnership to rebuild the innings. The duo amassed 36 in 32 deliveries but in an attempt to get a move on, Mahmudullah lost his wicket to Hazelwood for 20 after Moises Henriques took a sensational catch.

Then, Shakib too struggled to get going and could only manage to make a 33-ball 36 as he dragged one on to the stumps. At the end of the 17th over, Bangladesh were 104 with half their side back in the hut.

Afif Hossain’s 17-ball 23 propelled the hosts to a below-par total of 131/7. But on the final ball of the innings, he was bowled by a searing yorker that became Starc's 50th T20I wicket - the first Australian man to achieve this feat.

In response, Mahedi Hasan bowled Alex Carey on the first ball for a golden duck. The retaliation didn’t stop here. In the next over, Nasum Ahmed dismissed Josh Philippe who charged down the track to slog, however, was stumped behind by Nurul Hasan for 9 runs.

Thereafter, a third spinner was introduced in the third over in Shakib Al Hasan. He too picked up a wicket on his very first delivery - Moises Henriques knocked over for one.

Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Wade were then tasked with the job of rescuing a flailing innings for the visitors, but the Australian skipper too departed for 13, leaving them in a precarious situation.

Marsh failed to get any sort of support from the other end, as his fighting knock of 45 was brought to an end by the excellent Nasum Ahmed, who celebrated his fourth scalp of the contest. The wicket dashed whatever little hopes the visitors had, as Bangladesh nudged closer to a famous victory.

It didn't take too long for the hosts to dismiss the Australian tail, as the visitors were bowled out for 108 in the final ball of the match, resulting in a 23-run victory for Bangladesh as they went 1-0 up in the series.

This pitch had everything. Assistance to pacers and spinners. Both Pacers and spinners from both sides did well. Not that typical spinning subcontinent wicket. I liked it

So an Asterik(*) for any victories(Tests/LOIs) against them.
England is touring Australia for Ashes, and trust me they will be thrashed. So will be NZ whenever they tour next time.

Australia is not same team it is used to be. I will be surprise if they win a match against Bangladesh. India team with their main XI (they won against Australia with their B team recently) can easily whitewash Australia in Australia and both NZ and Eng can win a series against them. Australia can only whitewash Pakistan, SL, BD, SA and WI in their home ground.
 
Either talent is drying up in Australia or there is too many favoritism in team selection. Players like Philippe , Carey are not good enough to play in 2nd division leagues.

Sibley and Burns would be eaten alive by Hazelwood/Starc/Pat Cummins in Australian conditions.
Not much swing so Anderson and Broad will be neutralised.
Warner/Smith/Labu and Hazelwood/Starc/Cummins/Lyon. That is 7 Genuine Game changers and match winners.
Add talented young guns Green and then Will Pucovski as well.

NZ played with the same team bar Jameison and they were literally thrashed. I saw the historic match in MCG live on Boxing day. NZ were no match for Australians. I don't think that will change.

Bangladesh handed Australia their second defeat in a row to go 2-0 up in the five-match T20I series with a five-wicket win in the second match.

Bangladesh are now on the cusp of making history – their first-ever bilateral men's T20I series win over Australia.

Mustafizur Rahman starred with ball with returns of 3/23 while Afif Hossain, who top-scored with a 31-ball 37* for his side, was adjudged Player of the Match.

Earlier, reeling from their first-ever defeat against Bangladesh in the shortest format, Australia opted to bat. And yet again, it wasn't the best of starts for the visitors with the early departure of Alex Carey (13) leaving them on the backfoot. His opening partner Josh Philippe soon followed suit, being bowled by Rahman for 10.

Mitchell Marsh and Moises Henriques would go on to establish a steady stand for the visitors, giving them some confidence of posting a challenging total on the board. But Shakib Al Hasan worked his magic with the ball, plotting the downfall of Henriques on 30.

The middle-order failed to give any sort of support to Marsh, who was again tasked with the effort of embarking on a one-man job of saving the Australian innings from a collapse. But his dismissal on 45 by Shoriful Islam meant that Australia would stutter home to an under-par score of 121/7 in their 20 overs, which would then require a herculean task from their bowling unit in order to be defended.

In reply, Bangladesh's innings got off to a shaky start with Soumya Sarkar being bowled by Mitchell Starc for nought. Mohammad Naim too could not carry on his good form, which helped him rise in MRF Tyres ICC Men's T20I rankings, with Josh Hazlewood knocking off his stumps.

Shakib and Mahedi Hasan then put on a 37-run stand, which solidified the ship for the hosts. But Shakib's dismissal on 26 reignited Australian hopes, as they desperately sought a way back into the match, and the series.

From 58/2 at one stage, Bangladesh slipped to 67/5 in 11.5 overs. They lost Mahmudullah for a duck in the next over after Shakib's dismissal, and Mahedi was stumped by Wade for 23 two overs later.

Australia had derailed Bangladesh's line-up and they were back in the game, but Hossain and Nurul Hasan (22* runs from 21) had other plans. Together they ensured there weren't any more hiccups on the way to chasing their target. They batted with caution and stitched an important, unbeaten 56-run stand, taking their side across the line with eight balls to spare.

The two sides will meet again at the same venue for the third match on Friday, 6 August.

Post the legendary performance of the great Rishabh Pant in India's greatest series win in 150 years of cricketing history, Australia have struggled to recover mentally.

They were a top team before that. Drew in England 2-2 which was a huge achievement but post the Pant assault, they have not been mentally up for a contest. :inti
 
Now that the result reads 2-0, Bangladesh should win this series. No excuse.

As a matter of fact, I think Bangladesh can win 4-1 here.

With two matches in the bag, Bangladesh know that one final push will be enough to seal a historic series victory at home against the Australians. Another win will mean that the hosts will take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. With so much at stake, Bangladesh will back their tried and trusted performers to get the job done.

The visitors on the other hand have been plagued by much of the same issues from the West Indies tour – a lack of explosiveness and consistency in their batting department. The bowlers have done well to keep Australia alive in matches, but the batting has failed to inspire any sort of confidence with their meek display. Staring at a series loss, it is a final opportunity for the batsmen to show an upturn in their form.

Remember the last time

Australia again struggled with the bat against the variations of the Bangladesh bowlers, meandering their way to a total of 121/7. Mitchell Marsh (45) was the sole contributor during their batting effort.


In reply, Bangladesh found themselves in a precarious position at 67/5, with the contest firmly in the balance. But Afif Hossain (37*) and Nurul Hasan (22*) played composed knocks to take the hosts home to a relatively comfortable five-wicket victory.

Mahmudullah (Bangladesh captain): "Losing few early wickets causes tension in the dressing room but the way Sohan and Afif batted, it took a bit of pressure off us, the dressing room was quite relieved. Mustafizur has always been effective in these conditions, Shoriful bowled very well, every bowler chipped in. We are taking each game at a time, we need to stand up and perform to the best of our abilities."

Matthew Wade (Australia captain): "We were in a good position today with a couple of set batters, but didn't cash in at the back end. Should have got high 130s or 140s, which would have been a winning score on that track. The bowlers from both teams have done really well. Bowling isn't the problem for us, got to tidy up with the bat."

I didn't expect Aussies to struggle this bad, to be honest.

They couldn't pick Mustafiz at all.

Bangladesh has been POOR in this series

But

Australia has been POORER
 
Lol going into this series most BDeshis were content with getting at least one win. Don't think they expected this
