Bangladesh tour of Pakistan (2025)

PCB confirms additional men's T20Is against Bangladesh

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has today confirmed that Bangladesh will tour Pakistan in May for a five-match T20I series. The series, which is part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP) originally consisted of three ODIs and three T20Is.

However, with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for next year, both the boards have mutually agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is.

The five-match T20I series will be played in Faisalabad and Lahore from 25 May to 3 June. Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which successfully hosted the inaugural Champions One-Day Cup in September last year and National T20 Cup last month, will stage the first and second T20Is of the series, scheduled on 25 and 27 May, respectively.

Iqbal Stadium, which has previously hosted 24 Tests and 16 ODIs between 1978 and 2008, will welcome back international cricket after a 17-year hiatus. The historic venue’s last international fixture was an ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan in April 2008.

Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the remaining three T20Is, scheduled on 30 May, 1 and 3 June. All five matches will begin at 8pm.

Bangladesh team will arrive on 21 May and will undergo training sessions at the Iqbal Stadium from 22 t0 24 May.

Series schedule in Pakistan

21 May – Bangladesh men’s team arrival

25 May – First T20I at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad (8pm local time)

27 May – Second T20I at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad (8pm local time)

30 May – Third T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (8pm local time)

1 June – Fourth T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (8pm local time)

3 June – Fifth T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (8pm local time)

Surely PCB cannot do this, youngsters should be given chances for this series , what about the grind youngsters went through in NZ , all will be in vain.

Some revelations:

-Hesson new head coach

-Sahibzada, Ali Raza, Faheem, Hussain Talat, Hassan Ali to be included in Bangladesh T20 squad

-Babar and Rizwan not in plans for T20s v Bangladesh
Faheem, Talat, Ali Raza and going back to Hassan Ali probably not the best thing

Ubaid more deserving than Ali Raza

5 T20Is.

Why not have 3 ODIs and 2 T20s? That would've been great.
Why not schedule a classic 3 match test, 5 match odi and 3 match t20 series like they use to in the past? What has Pakistan got to do in 2025 anyway? 2026 is a long while away?

It would have been better to schedule a 5 match t20 series later in the year with some strong team.

Test series is already done I believe. The one that happened last year.

I think they split up the tour in 2 parts. This is the LOI leg.

A bilateral T20 series is so boring. I always prefer ODIs. Only T20 tournaments seems meaningful.

Hesson will be a good pick.

Sahibzada struggles against short ball. I will select Yasir Khan based on matches so far.

Ali Raza should be kept away from T20 cricket.

Faheem and Hussain Talat shouldn't be there considering next tournaments are in Asia.

Hopefully, Babar and Rizwan never play T20Is ever again.

PCB dumped ODIs for T20s. Maybe they are planning for Asia cup and t20 world cup here...

Anyways, No babar and rizwan for sure.

Bangladesh to play two T20Is against UAE in Sharjah later this month before Pakistan tour
Bangladesh Men’s team will play two T20Is against UAE at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium later this month. The matches will be staged on Saturday 17 and Monday 19 May and will begin at 7:00 pm local time. This will be the Asian Full Member side’s second bilateral T20I series against UAE in the last three years. The two teams played in a two-match series in Dubai in September 2022.

Chief Operating Officer Emirates Cricket Board Subhan Ahmad: “We are excited to host the Bangladesh Men’s team for another bilateral T20I series with the UAE Men’s team. The Emirates Cricket Board is always keen on providing opportunities to the UAE’s national side against quality opponents.

“In the last three years we have hosted ICC Full Members New Zealand, West Indies and Afghanistan while Bangladesh’s T20I series tour is their second bilateral tour of the UAE in three years.

“The two-match Bangladesh series will provide an ideal preparation opportunity for UAE ahead of this year’s ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup and we thank Bangladesh Cricket Board for their support for UAE Cricket. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium is an excellent venue for T20 cricket and we look forward to hosting two exciting games.”

Chief Executive Officer Bangladesh Cricket Board Nizam Uddin Chowdhury: “We are pleased to see the Bangladesh national team's return to the UAE. The BCB values the opportunity to engage in competitive cricket and we appreciate the initiative of the Emirates Cricket Board in arranging this T20I series.

“These matches will serve as an important part of our team’s preparations ahead of a packed international calendar, including the upcoming Asia Cup. We are confident that these two games will further strengthen the cricketing ties between the BCB and ECB and provide quality entertainment to the cricket fans.”

Shanto should not be playing T20s. I would have him swapped for someone like Zawad Abrar(BD's Suryavanshi).

New captain named as Bangladesh reveal squads for T20I series against UAE and Pakistan

The Tigers unveiled their new captain and vice-captain while announcing their 16-member squads for the upcoming tours of UAE and Pakistan.

Litton Das has been appointed as Bangladesh’s T20I captain, with off-spinner Mahedi Hasan named as his deputy.

Das replaces Najmul Hossain Shanto, who remains part of the squad but relinquished the T20I captaincy in January this year.

The squad also sees the return of several familiar faces – Towhid Hridoy, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam – all of whom missed the T20I series against West Indies in December.

Das stepped in as stand-in captain during the series against West Indies, guiding the Bangladesh side to an impressive 3-0 clean sweep on foreign soil.

In total, Das brings leadership experience across formats, having captained Bangladesh in one Test, seven ODIs and four T20Is so far.

Bangladesh revealed Das will skipper the side up until at least next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

"Litton Das will lead the side until the T20 World Cup next year," Bangladesh cricket operation Chair Najmul Abedin confirmed.

"For Litton, experience has been an important factor. We don't have many experienced players in the current setup. While there were discussions about his form, we believe he has the potential. If he can organise his game, he'll be an asset to the team."

While Das remains in contention for the Test and ODI captaincy for Bangladesh, the team suggested a decision these positions won't be made for some time.

"We will announce the ODI and Test captains soon. It's necessary to fill up the vacuum. Test matches may come in two to two-and-a-half months' time, and while we could announce the captain a week before that, leadership isn't just about the match - it's a full-time responsibility," Abedin added.

Bangladesh will first face UAE in two T20Is on May 17 and 19 to be played in Sharjah. They will then travel to Pakistan to play a five-match T20I series, starting May 25.

Bangladesh squad: Litton Das (c), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, Mahedi Hasan (vc), Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam.

BCB delay decision on Pakistan T20I series over security concerns

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to make a final decision on the scheduled five-match T20I series against Pakistan, set to begin on May 25, as it continues to monitor the situation in the country.

According to reports, the BCB said it is actively coordinating with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to ensure the safety of its players currently taking part in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

Two Bangladeshi cricketers — leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (Lahore Qalandars) and fast bowler Nahid Rana (Peshawar Zalmi) — are playing in the tournament.

"The BCB is in active coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to ensure that all necessary measures are in place to guarantee the security of our players," the board stated.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed, speaking to a local sports outlet, said the board is taking a wait-and-see approach and will decide within the next few days.

"We are really working on the current situation (as far as going to Pakistan for the T20I series) and it can wait for another three to four days," Faruque said.

"Let's see how it progresses, but at the moment, our main concern is regarding the two players (Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain) who are currently in Pakistan playing in the PSL," he added.

Meanwhile, the BCB has already announced a 16-member squad for its upcoming T20I tours of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan.

Litton Das will lead the side after Najmul Hossain Shanto stepped down from captaincy earlier this year. All-rounder Mahedi Hasan has been named vice-captain for both tours.

Bangladesh will first play two T20Is against the UAE on May 17 and 19 in Sharjah before traveling to Pakistan for the five-match series, scheduled from May 25 to June 3.

Shift the tournament to UAE and for god sakes please add in Minimum 2 odi's. It's stupid to have 5 t20's straight in the dot.

Bangladesh’s planned tour of Pakistan later this month remains uncertain, even as diplomatic efforts indicate a possible ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held a second round of internal meetings on Friday evening to assess the situation.

While the board confirmed that the two-match T20I series against the UAE in Sharjah will go ahead as planned, no final decision has been made about the five-match T20 series in Pakistan.

“The safety of players and support staff remains our highest priority,” the BCB said in a statement.

“Any decision regarding the Pakistan tour will be made cautiously, considering the current situation in Pakistan and the best interests of Bangladesh cricket.”

Earlier in the day, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, speaking at a swimming federation event in Dhaka, voiced concern about the tour.

“Given the current situation, it is not wise to take any kind of risk,” he said. “We’ve also received security warnings from the Pakistan Embassy. The BCB will make the final call.”

Although the series has not yet been officially postponed, discussions within the BCB suggest that the board may seek a mutual understanding with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to delay the tour, which is part of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League has already been suspended, and Bangladeshi players Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana returned home after concerns grew over safety in Rawalpindi.

Liton open to Pakistan series if BCB deems it safe

Bangladesh's newly appointed T20I captain, Liton Das, stated that the national team would have no objections to touring Pakistan later this month if the conditions are deemed favourable by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Several members of the national squad, who trained at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday, attended a meeting with officials from the BCB's cricket operations department. The meeting focused on player consent regarding the proposed tour of Pakistan.

The Tigers are scheduled to play a five-match T20I series against Pakistan from May 25 to June 3, with matches to be held in Faisalabad and Lahore. Before this tour, Bangladesh will play a two-match T20I series in the United Arab Emirates.

Following the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had suspended the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and several domestic competitions. However, with the situation easing and a ceasefire in place, the PCB has now announced the resumption of domestic men's cricket, beginning Wednesday.

"Everyone knows why cricket in Pakistan is currently off. I think the BCB can take a better call about the Pakistan tour. The cricket boards will discuss with each other to take the series forward. If the BCB feels that the condition there is favourable, we will definitely go there to play the series," Liton told reporters in Mirpur on Monday during his first press conference as a full-time skipper.

Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain, two Bangladeshi players taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), came back to the country alongside two Bangladeshi journalists on Saturday after the India-Pakistan conflict escalated as Pakistan claimed to have been subject to several drone attacks by India. A special flight which took off from an undisclosed and secured location was arranged by the Pakistan Air Force for the Bangladeshis.

Meanwhile, Liton has not played for Bangladesh in any format since December 2024 due to a prolonged dip in form that saw him left out of the ICC Champions Trophy squad. He was granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the PSL with Karachi Kings during Bangladesh's home Test series against Zimbabwe. However, a finger injury sustained in training forced him to return home without playing a match.

"The last time I played an international match was back in December. After that, I couldn't get many chances to play international cricket. I was passing a bad time as I couldn't score runs, but I tried to do well in the Bangladesh Premier League and Dhaka Premier League," Liton said.

"A player can only try his best but there are times when it just does not work for you. A player can fail in one or two series but can make a comeback in the next one. I will try to do the same," he added.

BCB president Faruque Ahmed seemed well aware about the reservation of the players and officials as he insisted that the governing body cannot take any decision without speaking to the respective parties during this sensitive time.

"We have sent a letter to NSC to give it to the ministry (sports) yesterday (May 13). Day before yesterday I had given a message to the advisor (sports) regarding the tour and even today I had spoken with him in this regard," Faruque told Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

"I insisted that the PSL [would] have started and the IPL was going to resume soon. I am not sure whether it is sustainable or not (going to Pakistan) and if they give me any directives from the government we will start talking to the players and we have to talk with all the stakeholders," he said.

"First we have to get the clearance from the government and later we need to talk with the players and there are some other details that we might need to sort out like venues and all those things. We cannot take the decision alone as it is very sensitive issues" he said.

After Uncertainty On Touring Pakistan, Bangladesh Cricket Board Makes Big Decision

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have confirmed that they have received a green light from the government to tour Pakistan for their upcoming five-match T20I series, starting from May 27. There was some uncertainty whether the series would go ahead following cross-border tension between India and Pakistan in the second week of May. However, as per the latest reports, the Bangladesh cricket team are all set to tour Pakistan after receiving the go-ahead. The T20I series will conclude on June 5.

As per a report, the BCB have been given a green signal by the Bangladesh government.

"We have got the green signal (from the government) though we are yet to receive the official letter which we are expecting sooner than later. But as far as I know the government has taken the decision in principle that they will let us visit Pakistan for the upcoming tour," said a BCB official to Cricbuzz.

As per the report, the dates of the tour have been slightly postponed. Earlier, the series was set to start on May 25 and conclude on June 3. However, after recent developments, the dates have been shifted by two days in the BCB's revised itinerary. The main reason for this is that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final had to be postponed to May 25.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had been vying to obtain clearance from the government and speaking to the players regarding the decision.

"After getting the official letter from the government we will start talking with our players as we learnt that some of them are reluctant to travel citing security reasons," he said. "One thing we can assure is that we won't push anyone," said the BCB official.

Earlier, this is what the BCB had said given the developing situation:

"The BCB wishes to reiterate that the safety and security of its players and support staff remain the Board's highest priority. All decisions concerning the tour will be made with careful consideration of the current situation in Pakistan, ensuring they align with the best interests of the team and Bangladesh cricket."

This is the reality of the ODI format. It doesn't mean anything outside the CT and the WC. I wouldn't call it dead or dying since as long as there is cricket, there will be a 50-over WC. But Tulla20 has definitely made bilateral ODIs pretty irrelevant.
Should not have removed the ranking system they were going with for the ODI WC which allowed the top 8 (or top 6 i think) to qualify. It was a good way to keep the ODI cricket going and made it relevant (unfortunetly it's my fav format - and for many others aswell).

In a major breakthrough for regional cricket, Pakistan and Bangladesh have officially agreed on a T20I series following high-level talks between the two boards.

The development comes after a meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Nazmul Abedin and President Faruque Ahmed.

Bangladesh’s national team is set to visit Pakistan this month for a three-match T20I series.

All matches will be played at Lahore's Gaddafi stadium, with official schedule expected soon.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his appreciation to his Bangladeshi counterparts for finalising the tour.

“We are grateful to the BCB leadership for their trust and cooperation. This series is another positive step in strengthening cricketing ties between our nations,” he said.

The PCB had hoped to host matches in Faisalabad as well, but it seems revival of cricket in Faisalabad will have to wait.

Reports initially suggested that multiple Bangladeshi players have expressed hesitation about playing a full five-match series due to continuous cricketing commitments.

I don’t see the point of dropping RizBar or resting them….only to bring them back before the WC…

Where are they going to be playing the cricket you want them to play? How are they going to develop into the players you expect them to become?

You can rest guys like Fakhar and Saim. You know they will play the game how it’s supposed to when it matters for Pakistan.

But how can you afford the same trust on Babar and Rizwan? They are not finished articles when it comes to T20 modern batting

You either write them off, or you give them that final chance now. Not close to the tournament

Pakistan has better options as openers.

Nafay, Maaz, Shabzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz(Should play in the MO but can open), Haris etc etc.

Ba/riz are like your 10th option.

Squad has already been announced but I think it is a good thing to play 3 T20s instead of 5. The ODIs should never have been scrapped, though.

I think they are hoping pakistan drop a match or perform below expectations in a couple, so that Rizbar can be brought back to fool gullible fans as saviors.

PCB confirms revised schedule for T20I series against Bangladesh

1747823076268.png

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the revised schedule for the highly anticipated three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The series will take place at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium from 28 May to 1 June 2025.

The action-packed series will kick off with the first T20I on Wednesday, 28 May, followed by the second fixture on Friday, 30 May. The third and final T20I is set to take place on Sunday, 1 June.

Bangladesh are scheduled to arrive in Lahore on 25 May, with training sessions planned for 26 and 27 May to ensure optimal preparation ahead of the series. All three matches will begin at 8pm local time

'Traumatised' Nahid Rana And Two Support Staff Members Pull Out Of Pakistan Tour

Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana and two members of the support staff have pulled out of the upcoming tour of Pakistan. Bangladesh are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting on May 29.

While the BCB has given the series against Pakistan the green light, Nahid Rana has decided against traveling to the country. Along with the pacer, two support staff members - trainer Nathan Keily and fielding coach James Pamment - have also chosen not to go to Pakistan with the Bangladesh team.

The chairman of cricket operations of BCB, Najmul Abedeen Fahim, revealed the development while talking to the media on Wednesday. Fahim said that other players were hesitant too, but eventually agreed to tour Pakistan.

"From the team announced earlier, Nahid Rana has withdrawn himself; he is not going. From the coaching staff, Jimmy and Nathan, our fielding coach and trainer, aren’t going either. The rest of them are going," Fahim told reporters.

"There was slight discomfort among some other players. But then they thought that it wouldn’t be that much difficult. So they changed their initial decision, and all are going now," he added.

Fahim further pointed out that Nahid Rana's decision might have been influenced by recent incidents he faced in Pakistan during the PSL. Rana, along with his compatriot Rishad Hossain, was in Pakistan when the cross-border tension began.

"Nahid Rana or Rishad Hossain, they face such incidents that it’s quite natural to be traumatised. So there’s nothing to blame. And maybe that’s why he has withdrawn himself," said Fahim.

Soumya Sarkar ruled out of T20Is in Pakistan as Mehidy Hasan called up as replacement after being dropped from original squad

"Following medical evaluation, it has been determined that the injury requires an extended rehabilitation period of approximately 10 to 12 days," Bayjedul said. "This effectively means that he will not be available for next week's three-match series in Pakistan."
