What test cricket needs..is a game to be in this position at Day 5 and still produce a result. What test cricket doesn't need is the sort of pitches being rolled out in Mirpur
 
Messi is being carted around with no respect
 
I understand why the pacers would struggle here but our spinners are absolute trash. Zulfiqar has no venom in his bowling and Yasir keeps bowling darts.
 
I haven't seen a more lifeless track in years. They're basically playing on mud.
 
As a Bengali would say after watching this opening partnership "Pakistan-ke kna-di-ye char-lo Bangladesh".

World record opening partnership of 415 by SA against Bangladesh is in danger. No doubt Bangladesh would be quite happy to change the record books as the team that recorded the partnership rather than the team it was recorded against.

That's different soil. This track has nothing at all. Bangladesh obviously doctored it planning to draw from the start and our trash spinners aren't helping.

Were there as many people whining when Pakistani ftbs were making merry on this pitch? Against a bottom tier test team, a quality bowling lineup should be able to get atleast one wicket before conceding 300 runs....
 
Didn't Bangladesh thrash Pakistan in the previous 4 matches albeit due to awful pitches ? Blaming pitches when playing against the worst test side in the world is truly amusing.
 
Shame on you Pakistan. Unacceptable to not pick wickets against Bangladesh. Not sure if Pakistan regressed so badly or Bangladesh progressed? Or if it is a combination of both..

It's toothless bowling from Pakistan here. Spinners can actually get something out of this pitch by bowling in right channels. Not a big turn but something is there to work with.

It's a combination of a dead wicket and mentally drained bowlers. Embarrassing performance really.

Bowlers are afraid of losing to bangladesh, body language is crap, and I'm pretty sure they are physically drained as well
 
Phew got one finally. 3-4 quick one will make it interesting here.

This test is officially the death of Pakistan cricket. Even the bowling has gone substandard now.
 
Doesnt even look like it's raining hard. Ground staff making sure Bangladesh have no chance of losing :yk
 
People crying about the pitch when they are playing a 9th ranked team and are convinced that we deserve to be ranked 4th. Then we laugh at Bangladesh for being crybabies.

Not just 4th. someone opened a thread best team in Asia ROFL just after Hafeez scored a double century
And then dozens started proving how superior Pakistan is to India and how they would thrash them because they are ranked lower.
They forget Azmal can chuck no more and that Misbah and Younis are tired and ready to retire bin a few months time

With the flat tracks Bangladesh provide...I'm not surprised.
Newzealand drew their 2 test series 2013
Sri Lanka drew a test in Bangladesh as well last year
It just looks bad because Pak lost the LOIs. They were desperate for a victory. So that's why they would treat this as a loss and Bangladesh will treat this as a win

Sri Lanka and New Zealand are much superior test teams to BD, right? Even they were forced to settle for a draw in their last test series in BD, these pitches are extremely flat.

I didn't see them crying. They accepted that they played poor cricket and should have done better.

Making excuses is much worse than performing poorly.

Dont forget that practice match as well. When BD won that match their fans thought that their team had done enough to make them proud. Who would have thought that they will win everything.

A tour that will be remembered for long time in pakistan for wrong reasons

No, but they are plenty on this forum who took it on the chin. No one can compete with Pakistanis when it comes to making excuses and blaming others for their failures.

Most deluded nation in the world.
 
With due to respect to Hafeez...

I am always skeptical of any pitch in which he scores more than 30 runs.

I am not entirely surprised it was this flat after seeing Hafeez get a double.

Of course, we have seen the best and worst of Hafeez and he is not going to get better, but I don't think anyone else in Pakistan can score a fluent 220 or a 196 (v NZ) at a 60+ SR.

It's a shame that he's the most fluent batsman in the team when he gets going, because he is clearly not capable of taking on the best bowlers in the world when the conditions are slightly challenging.

We all know the result of him facing Johnson, Starc, Boult and Anderson next year when we tour Australia, New Zealand and England.

I would give him two pats on the back though.

1. When he is in flow, he's pretty classy.

2. He had more weaknesses when he came to international circuit, he's worked on his bowling... he's worked on his batting,which even if not world class, still is better for Pakistan in last 02 years.

He might get flak for being an awful test player...

But he's one guy who thinks on the field and actually tries to work on his deficiencies.

That he fails, is something else.

But then you have players like Shehzad and Akmal clan who regress instead of progressing, and you just hope to God they have Hafeez germs as far as trying is concerned.

True. Hafeez was a terrible player in his first stint and went back, worked hard and ultimately ended up having a solid career for Pakistan. If a few of the talented ones had the same work ethic, they could have achieved a lot more.

Hafeez should look back at his career with pride because with the limited ability that he had, he couldn't really have done or achieved more.

Where do u rate hafeez in the list of all rounders we had in last decade?
Hafeez, Afridi , Razzaq and Malik (not sure he is a AR [emoji14])
I think hafeez is the beat AR we had in last decade followed by razzaq .
