It has to be more than 50% of the ball for it to remain umpire's call. You were probably mistaken with how much of the ball pitched in line. I assure you that there is no such rule.

Now that's a different scenario altogether, even if the impact was mili meter inside the line than the on field decision would hv been up held but the impact was clearly out side the line of off stump hence the decision would hv been over turned had batsman reviewed it.
