ok, i've havent played cricket for 5 yrs-includes having a hit with my bat.

I've oiled it 2 twice in 1 week (1 decent coat, 2nd was very light usage), but the surface feels very dry, I had to take off the anti scuff sheet for oiling.
Should I Give it a re-coat/ or leave it as over oiling is damaging.

Kept the bat in a cricket cover in my bedroom -next to book shelf - not a hot room.

My friend say i should have lightly sanded the bat face then applied linseed oil?, what would you lot recommend?, pics attached (couldn't pick up the dryness, which is visible by touch and eyesight:

Thanks

How much oil did you use in the first 2 times?

I won't oil it anymore.

The bat looks nice, the grains will open up more - which is a good thing in terms of performance - just apply a clear extratec on front to prevent breakage from the grains which can happen sometimes and it should be good.

At the end of season take off the sheet and sand the face. Oil it then put another sheet few days later.

No need to oil it any more that colour is perfect, justput a scuff sheet on

Well i've always been told never use more than 1 teaspoon of linseed oil per coating, (first coating 1teaspoon, 2nd- half teaspoon).

Yeh i will put a scuff sheet on it, just ordered one from the bay.

btw was my friend right (by saying i could have lightly sanded the face, then apply linseed oil).

Thanks again
