Apologies if this has been discussed before.
I think he is shaping up to be a very good commentator
Contrasting him to Ramiz, I feel he is a little more aware of Pakistan's domestic scene and is able to give a little more background on the players.
Seems to have an understated sense of humor and I feel he has improved with every stint.

A welcome addition as a voice of Pakistan cricket.

What do we think?

english isnt as fluent as is required but he isnt bad

he is good, when he first started he just didn't speak loud enough. Plus he actually seems to know about the domestic players

His knowledge of Pakistan domestic is very good there is no doubt about that.

Very well structured English, good vocabulary, and well mannered.

I wish if he had a little better pitch and power in the voice.

He speaks 100% like his father. Slightly more through the nose and slightly lazy ish delivery.

He has my vote. Certainly alot better than Ramiz.
For a change a Pakistani commentator who knows a thing a two about our domestic cricket.

Bazid spent time in MCC Cricket Academy too when his father Majid Khan was there working with MCC

Hope he goes to the world cup, i actually dont mind Ramiz or Wasim but it will be nice to have a guy who is knowledgeable about the current state of the game in Pakistan

Agree, he was a little halting and slurred but has improved.

Probably nerves. Looks good today. He wasn't the best player (I remember his 66 against England I believe?). Seems as though he is very knowledgeable and knows a good deal about domestic.

He is a huge Haris Sohail fan and is upset he's still not on the team for a consistent run.

He's okay, certainly far better than Ramiz who will just parrot whatever the Aussie commentators say.

Not the most exciting and can be dull listening to him, but has great expertise of Pakistan cricket and the domestic scene.

Him and Wasim at the WC for me, whilst ramiz should not commentate for us at all.

Is this the desi commentator who was on air in the last over?

He did made some pertinent points, but overall, he really needs to work on the language. He spoke in a slack way and used too many cliches and at wrong times. He does have potential.. but the weaknesses made it boring.

Top punditry skills, love his accent has an old school feeling about pakistan. Comes from a family that has given more to Pakistan cricket than others (not a requirement just a fact). Gets my vote! Knows a lot about Pak structure etc just because he never cracked it at the big times doesn't mean he is a poor commentator. Was a pleasure to hear him and Dean Jones together. Glad we may have find another commentator other than ramiz.

I liked him much better than ramiz. He never stutters or get over excited like ramiz.

Most posters here know my english sucks and I am probably not the right person to comment on his commentary but I think he has impoved dramatically. Sounded very boring initially but getting better now. And since he has played alot of domestic crickert and covered that for PTV Sports he has good knowledge about domestic players and structure.

Reminds me of Misbah. Makes good points, but dull and boring. Better than Ramiz though, I suppose.

Makes good points. But his voice is terrible. He would be better off as an analyst.

Commentary was ok but then he started praising Tanvirs batting and putting down Zulfiqar who looked more in control with the bat.

It came across as really obvious that him and Tanvir are buddies of the field.

He should stick to PTV sports.

Where can I hear him?? Is his English adequate or pathetic like Wasim Akram?. Sanjay Manjrekar and Laxmi Shivarama are still the top ones in my opinion. I can't stand Ravi Shastri's biased nonsense!

Bazid Khan's Commentary: What do we make of it?
Yeah that is the question isn't it? This is what we should discuss instead of 0-3 drubbing.

Who can think of commentary at a time like this?

Can you point me to your pram, I see some toys on the floor

Ramiz started off as a monotonous commentator with 2-3 words like exquisite fascinating and fantastic piece of bowling, magical stuff from shoaib akhtar lolololol. Bazid will gradually improve this is his first stint.

Better than Chisti Mujahid who just mumbles in an old man's voice.

Uses good terminology, and not a bad English speaker.

Where do you rate Bazid Khan as a commentator?

Bazid Khan as a commentator. Where do you rate him among others?

Annything is an upgrade on commentary team we had for a series few years ago where every tom, dick and harry and their dogs were given commentary gigs.

Since that series my expectations have never been much

Very intelligent & sensible commentator. Good break from the bsers like ramiz, shastris, etc

Lol are you guys serious? The guy puts me to sleep, the most boring commentator of all time :))) Seriously, he'd even make a thrilling T20 match boring with his unexciting and dull commentary.

Great insight by Bazid about why Pakistan isn't producing out and out pace bowlers

He's way too monotonous and lacks any kind of expression in his voice. I find him extremely boring tbh.

not the most exciting voice but seems to have fresh view points.

listening to his commentary is like getting hypnotized.

I know right

someone needs to kick him before he comes to commentary so that his voice will be fresh and aggressive :afaq

Just spoke to him and he's a wonderful analyst - think he's underrated a bit but that's his style.

His tone may be boring, but what he says has a lot of substance. Great insight on Pakistan's fast bowling issues...

What did he say? Please summarize...

Thanks

To sum it up,
He said that the pitches prepared in Pakistan's first class cricket these days are really bowler friendly, and there is no balance between bat and ball. 8/12 of the last round of FC games finished in 3 days.

He also said the ball used in FC is much easier to swing and seam.

He said that back in Wasim's day, the FC pitches were less bowler friendly, so bowlers needed pace to take wickets.

The pitch we saw in this Test match used to be the standard in FC cricket, which is why we had such skilled bowlers in the past, because they had to manufacture wickets. Now days the pitch gets you wickets in FC cricket.

There needs to be a balance of flat tracks and green tops in the FC system.

The fact that FC pitches are so supportive encourages medium pace bowling.

Wasn't there already a thread on this? Anyway, I think he's okay, bit of a monotone delivery but he does at least have some insight and views of his own. Unlike Ramiz Parrot Raja who has his views dictated to him by the opposing team's commentator.

Seems like a younger version of Chishti. Can help get you some afternoon sleep in case you need some.

Bazid is much better than Ramiz.

Ramiz is constantly trying to impress and tries too hard with his vocabulary, often sounding plain silly. Ramiz has a habit of repeating the same thing in different words 3-4 times just for the heck of it - to provide flourish with his commentary and sound smart and descriptive, rather than focusing on substance.

He knows alot about cricket and domestic players and their performances so he is far better than Ramiz the clueless raja who throw use less comments here and there.

Best PAkistani commie going around

Much better than likes of Ramiz, waqar and wasim

To be fair to him, his commentary is quite boring. Albiet the good things he mention while doing commentary, something that downrightly overshadows his commentary is the lack of excitement in his voice, which he needs to work on in order to be a reasonable commemtator.

I agree that he may lack the excitement factor in his voice and we could say that perhaps commentary may not not be his natural trait. But I believe he has a pretty stable, well informed and a cool head on his shoulders.

Perhaps he can contribute in some other way to the team, like a part time consultant to carve out strategies, part of the think tank team or a Jr. Batting coach or something.

The presence of a sensible and a well matured man around the Pakistan team is quite rare, and I would like to see him contribute in some way so that we can take better advantage of his skills.

In some ways he is a better commentator than Ramiz Raja nonetheless, IMO.

He should continue as commie. Brilliant analyst and knows a great deal about cricket which is praise worthy.

Yeah he called one of Sarfraz's shots delectable yesterday. Just uses cliches and adjectives for the sake of sounding clever.

I didn't like him at the start but he has grown on me recently. He is still a bit boring but has more insight than Ramiz. Also he has a dry sense of humour which i enjoy.

He has potential. He'll improve with time imo. But in the meantime should stick to his strengths.

Yup, he said that the pitches in first class cricket these days were conducive to medium paced bowling which is why Pakistan of late has been producing plenty of medium pacers but not enough genuine fire power.

Why do people dislike Ramiz so much? He's an ATG commentator and has been the voice of Pakistan cricket since 1999 with the most famous catch phrases in the game today.
