Bazid Khan's commentary: What do we make of it?

Don't see anything enlightening about his commentary. Poor analysis together with very average vocabulary.

He makes good points and has great insights regarding domestic cricket. Not the most lively personality but I'd take him over Ramiz Raja any day.

I don't understand why he gets the hate he gets

Excellent commentator, very insightful.

Never been “blown away” by Bazid and today I’m sure his commentary was broader line racist when McClenghan an on to bowl and he went in too comment about their being “too many Kiwi’s in the match and in the commentary box....”

The likes of Sky Sports in UK, Channel 9 in Aus and other foreign broadcasters like to bring one overseas commentator in respect of the opposition for their home side. We've seen Ramiz Raja always been given this role but he's past his sell by date for many many years now. He was good in late 90s and early 2000s but nowadays his mouth is too fast for his brain!

Channel 9 looks like during the Aus tour last year perhaps picked up on this and went for Waqar Younis which is a step in the right direction since he at least knows what he's talking about when it comes to bowling however this is overshadowed by his flaws in his use of grammar like "use of a new ball" rather than - use of the new ball as it should be said plus his philosophy when it comes to batting is too defensive minded - sometimes he will talk about the need to attack and play positive cricket but when he was a coach he was the opposite.

Bazid Khan is the best when it comes to content - just needs to work a bit more on his oration skills as it's quite monotone.

I’ve never heard a more accurate description of Ramiz Raja’s commentary:rp

Once a great promising batsman for Pak, we know what happened there. Now he's the great promising commentator instead:yk3

We always knew he was insightful but too monotone and boring, especially since he was mostly commentating in the domestic leagues. The exposure to international commies has seemed to do his delivery a world of good. Good back and forth with the others but seems to get over eager and overdo it at times. Still a million times better than Ramiz.

I don't have an issue with his voice at all. His content is clichéd. Rameez's voice is lively, but again his content is also clichéd.

He knows a little bit about domestic cricket which he should and which is a welcome change to Ramiz Raja, but really is very dull and boring.

If your kids won't go to sleep, put the tv on with this guy commentating.

A really good concentrator, and enjoyable to listen to

He's so much better than Ramiz, who constantly trips over himself

Some great technical points.

Explaining the Fakhar run out as he was on the back foot to play the pull.

He may not be the most entertaining but he has good insight and analysis.

You need a commentator like him along with the clowns like Danny etc

It's time for him to be upgraded over Ramiz to do match presentations and all that.

^ Yup ramiz was never outstanding as a commentator but it seems hes out of words more often these days (I'd put it due to age)... hand over the presentations to Bazid buddy

Mate, it was an inside joke with Danny...

He needs some kind of voice coaching to get better. He has good insights but is too monotonous. Don't think he can replace Rameez yet as no.1 commentator.

Same feelings.

Ramiz is theatric and it helps in cricket

Love Bazid's commentary, he actually works very very well with more of a high action commentator like Danny too.

Mate, it was on public television being broadcasted around the world...

Not a particularly “inside joke” kinda platform

They've been doing it throughout PSL. Nothing to it. It's all in good fun. The Kiwis/Aussies know how to take a joke.

Ah sorry. I didnt realise Bazid had been making such comments through out the PSL. That makes it perfectly acceptable then....

Speaking of commentary, the PSL group is horrible. Hell bent on gaining publicity and making "bantz". Just talk about the cricket and be professional with the odd joke.

Tone is not good but guy has some insight and exactly knows what he says.Do home work i think like he said imad wasim fancies himself as a batsman in domestics.

I am sorry to say this and no offence to Bazid but his commentary is very pedestrian. His English is poor and his knowledge of cricket is amatuerish. He is the weakest link in PSL, I am afraid.

I feel he has improved compared to what he used to do. He really used to be monotonous and boring to listen. Now he is the only decent guy to listen to.

Yes but you cant become a good commentators just by borrowing cliches from others.
Take the case of Wasim and Waqar - they too were very ordinary when they started. However, they have brushed up their English skills and their knowledge of the game is great.

All broadcasters need to bring the mute Ramiz option - I mean how on earth is going to refer Imran Tahir to Imran Farhat. Most commentators don't make this kind of mistake even once a year whereas with this clown it is every other game at least.

His mouth slips every other sentence. I remember Umar Akmal was once bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ramiz got all excited and said Umar Kumar has been bowled by Kumar.

If there was ever a way to sum up a brain fade. Question is how many broadcasters will pick this up and therefore replace him with a better Pakistani pundit/commentator/analyst erc

I must be listening to different commentary than you guys. I am afraid the commentary is dry, humourless and lacking technical knowledge.

If you dont have humour and good English you can still make it with knowledge of the game (eg: Harsha Bogle). But no its lacking in all 3 depts. No offence to Bazid; he is a nice guy.

Come on, man, at least not Wasim, he is even below Bazid and Ramiz. Regarding Waqar, yes, he has shown some glimpses of improvement.

Good commentator. Very knowledgeable and knows about players, unlike Ramiz who just states the obvious every ball.

Boring and monotonous
Appreciate his domestic knowledge
But can’t stand his voice
If there is one thing I would get rid off over the first 3 seasons of the PSL it is Bazid Khan (no offence)

Gotta give him credit yesterday, he qas the only one who highlighted yesterday how Azhar was so wrong calling Asad a youngster and how seniors are stopping young players from grooming...

Bazid will make a great cheif selector.

Needs to reduce the banter and dad jokes. Otherwise he's a good broadcaster.

Agreed, he was trying way too hard during the during the debate program at the end of the days play on sky after the Pak vs Eng series, some of his jokes were cringe and i felt embarrassed for him while he was trying to set them up. Dominic Cork and Mark Butcher seemed to have loved him mind, they did spend some time during the PSL together, im sure they respect him as a person and for his knowledge of the game, however i don't think he is quite cut out for global Pak commie rep tag, which rambo is desperately clinging on to at the moment

Some very lacklustre commentary this series. He has improved in recent months but needs to get down on the puns.

Haris Rauf becoming ‘Haris Sohail’ is the best of the lot.

Yes hes slowly steering himself down the ramiz rambo route of commentary of trying to be a comedian rather than someone whos informative and professional

Probably the worst commentary across a series that I have ever heard.

Awful, no insight. Just cheap humour, shrieks, dull conversations, no technical knowledge.

PCB needs to pool together a better set of overseas commentators now they have taken over the production and broadcasting, otherwise viewers are going to be falling asleep during our matches. Commentary is now a lot more than just dropping a joke here and there and dropping in stats every now and then. Sky are probably the pinnacle at the moment, and whilst we’re are a million miles away from there at the moment, I think time is now to start evolving. Might even be worth outsourcing the role, bring in someone to take the lead and bring in ex players around them.
