BCCI announced the annual player contracts for the men's team for the 2022-23 season with several players getting their maiden contracts.

All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya gained significantly in the latest BCCI annual player contracts for the 2022-23 season.

There are four groups in the BCCI’s contract list, with 'A+' players on INR 7 crore retainers, 'A' players INR 5 crore, 'B' players INR 3 crore, and 'C' players INR 1 crore.

While Jadeja, who is at the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men's Test all-rounder rankings, moved up from Grade A to Grade A+, a category that has only four top players now, Hardik and Axar were bumped up to Grade A from Grade C and Grade B respectively.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are the other stars in the top grade.

Rising stars Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda and Arshdeep Singh were awarded central contracts for the first time.

Kuldeep Yadav, who has returned to form, also gets his contract back and is in Grade C.

Grade A+: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja

Grade A: Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel

Grade B: Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill

Grade C: Umesh Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, KS Bharat

None of the Indian players deserve A+. All have been average with their form at best and Bumrah remains injured half of the time. Jadeja also is mediocre in LOIs.

Hardik doesn't deserve to be in Grade A as well as he doesn't play Tests. Yes, he is pivotal to LOIs but it's not like he is among the best player in LOIs around the world that he deserves that.

A more apt scenario would have been :

Grade A+ : None

Grade A : Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah, Jadeja, Ashwin, Shami, Pant

Grade B : Pujara, Rahul, Pandya, Axar, S Iyer, Gill, Siraj, SKY

Grade C is fine.

Is it INR 7 crores for the year or per month? If its per month then that means the Grade A+ players are earning USD 10 million per year via monthly retainers alone.

Heck the Grade C players are earning USD 1.4 million per year via monthly retainers alone.

Damn BCCI really does look after their players well.

Shardul Thakur doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the team.

Axar Patel is a very avg cricketer.

This is a disaster.

As the contract states, I think that's an annual payment, but I'll let someone else chime in with the facts. Bear in mind they will get separate match fees and bonuses etc.

Annual. But on top of this they get match fees etc.

And finally 15 percent of all BCCI revenue is divided among the players.

Why Bumrah in A+ and SKY in B..?

SKY is a nobody in Tests and ODIs. He is lucky he is considered in the same bracket to all format players like KL Rahul, S Iyer, Mohammad Siraj and Axar Patel.

Pakistan's Babar Azam earns 12 times less than Virat Kohli, half of Hooda, Kuldeep
The BCCI, the country's cricket administrative body, recently announced a new set of central contracts for its men cricketers for the year 2023. Former India captain Virat Kohli has retained his place in the topmost A-plus category of players, who get Rs 7 crore per year.

Pakistan's arguably best batsman at the moment, Babar Azam, who is often compared with Virat Kohli, earns a lot less than what India's star batsman gets as a salary. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the country's cricket administrative body, recently announced a new set of central contracts for its men cricketers for the year 2023. Former India captain Virat Kohli has retained his place in the topmost A-plus category of players, who get Rs 7 crore per year.

However, Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in all formats, gets an annual salary of 1.25 million Pakistan rupee per month (Rs 43,50,000 in Indian currency) - which is 12 times less than what Kohli fetches.

In June 2022, Pakistan's cricket board announced men’s central contract lists for 2022-23. Babar Azam, along with Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi was put in both red and white-ball contracts category of players, who get 1.25 million PKR (Pakistan Rupee) per month.

In India, BCCI has four categories - Grade A-plus (Rs 7 crore), Grade A (5 crore), Grade B (3 crore), and Grade C (1 crore). Indian players in Grade C earn more than top players in Pakistan such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi

In Grade C, India has 11 players - Umesh Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, and KS Bharat. That means, India's Deepak Hooda, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav earn more than Babar Azam.

This year, the BCCI promoted Ravindra Jadeja to the A-plus category but demoted former Indian vice-captain KL Rahul to Grade B.
