BCCI is exploring the possibility of hosting two Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons within a calendar year

India should only play Australia & England in bi-lateral cricket. As a matter of fact I had suggested BCCI should hold 3 IPL seasons a year. Lets give the people of India enough mickey mouse cricket.

Perhaps a beer too many? Nothing to do with the game itself?
The odd fan may have been but vast majority were sober. There was another one at Crystal Palace( which I didn't attend)in the early 90s that had to be abandoned because Sameer Dighe the WK was about to win the game for Ind. And here is the best bit, it was a game to raise money for IKs cancer hospital. You will never see even 1% of that passion for franchise cricket.

If I was an Ind fan I would be insulted at the BCCIs view of me as having the attention span of an ADHD student

BCCI should leave ICC and just focus on IPL. They can maybe have IPL all year long.
Let's set aside the length of the IPL and focus on the BCCI leaving ICC.

Will the ICC easily let them go?

What would the secondary2 Eng and Aus do? Given that they want very frequent BCCI tours to their country.

What would happen to the hand outs dependent SA, PCB, WI, BD, SL, Zim and heck even NZ.

What would be the strategy of the ICC which will now have only 10% of revenues as it had previously?

Would the ICC prioritize paying their own bills? Or would they help the handout boards pay their bills?

With a whole lot of less revenues, where will the ICC and boards make the biggest cuts? There have to be some humongous to stay afloat and continue to play. Because, no one is going to work for free.

From most of the comments I see around the IPL from Indians it seems to be a sense of patriotism and over interest in the financials of the league that spark more of an interest than the cricket.

It's almost unique within sports that the majority of the debate seems to be on TV rights, viewers, salary caps and stadium attendances than the cricket itself.

When things like rights deals and auction fees become issue of national pride then you have an almost unbreakable bond between the fans and the league.
I am guessing you have not visited IPL forums.

Don't Ind-Eng-Aus already do that? Just play among themselves most of the time? Just throw a bone here and there for other teams.

Take CA for example. They will pretty much have Ind. and Eng in their home summers every other year. All the other teams have to fit in to the non B-G or Ashes years.

No I haven't. Do they take it seriously?
The discussions there seem to focus on game play, strategy, team selection, batting order etc. etc. Of course in cases of CSK-RCB or CSK-MI for example, there is a whole lot of added "color commentary" as their fans seem to overflow with passion about their teams.

But have to admit, my experience on these forums is minimal. But I was able to deduce the above. Perhaps some other person who is actually active on these forums can shed better light.
