The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has told the International Cricket Council (ICC) that the second edition of the ICC Women Championship should be a ‘Best of Six’ affair among the eight teams “because of the Government of India’s stand on bilateral ties.”

The eight teams in the women championship are Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan.

It’s quite obvious that India has told the ICC that it will not be able to give any assurance of playing Pakistan. The ICC’s Women’s Committee has been informed about BCCI’s position.

The BCCI has also told the ICC that it will abide by the Government of India’s position on bilateral ties featuring the men’s team. Here again, the BCCI was only conveying its inability to play Pakistan in the ICC World Championship League.

Why dont India boycott all ICC events? Say to the world look we have money etc so if you wanna play with us and earn money, comeby and we can play. Stop spoiling the game for others PLEASE! Getting embarassing now.

I think it is the ICC that should let BCCI know that they have to follow the ICC rules and not the other way around as you are suggesting. The ICC should say that these are the rules and anyone not willing to follow will not be allowed to participate.

Yeah and risk their pay cheques? BCCI basically brings so much food on the table for these guys, you need to keep them happy if you want to earn well

I know. The BCCI pays the bills for ICC and most boards. Which is why the ICC is not going to so much as breathe about this. The BCCI will continue to have it's way. It's easy to say things in the forum world, but in the real world everything costs money, and money triumphs.

People have been screaming for change in the cricket world. Especially in this forum. But most posters here want the change to come from the BCCI. It is not going to happen. If someone is having their way, why would they stop. It just does not work that way in the real world.

The change has to be forced on them. Has to come from the other side (ICC, other boards). But I do not see it happening as the other side is satisfied with the $$ earned through BCCI.

Modi has set out to isolate Pakistani at every level and to a certain extent it's working

we should expect more of the same

The only way BCCI can possibly have any serious competition in the ICC board meetings is if a country produces as much revenue on a packed schedule for them. The only other country that can do so is probably England if they at first, revamp their T20 competition and make it a Super league with major franchises.

See BCCI can't do that why ? let me explain, For ex: Indian bike company bajaj will not hesitate to pay $100 million to ICC in case of any ICC event coz they know millions of indians will watch it
where as New Zealand company like ANZ will not pay that $100 million to ICC coz they knew they don't have millions of audience to watch their ads.

So, BCCI can't do that coz ICC events are mostly sponsored by Indian companies like Star, Sony etc., In the sense, many Indian companies will pay huge amount of dollars to ICC in case of any ICC event coz many millions of indians will watch it !

If India doesn't pay pak in ICC events these indian companies will loose lot of money Ex: 2007 ICC world cup.

This is one way of putting it. But my contention is that the onus is on the ICC not the BCCI or PCB. The ICC should lay down the law and determine who plays or doesn't. Of course the ICC is hiding under the desk right now on this matter.
