A lot of medium pacers who benefited from the slow grindy wickets in the UAE where the ball usually did not come to the bat have been exposed on Pakistani wickets in the current PSL.
A lot of spinners who enjoyed the slow grindy spinning gripping wickets in the UAE where they were consistently effective in all the innings in the PSL have been exposed on the Pakistani wickets in the current PSL.
The pacers who have been successful in the current PSL i.e Shaheen, Rauf, Amir, Hasnain, Wasim e.t.c. have been high speed, x factor bowlers.
There are no more freebies for the bowlers and they now have to think really hard about their games, their field placings, how they need to bowl to different batsmen, try different variations, tricks to be successful. Spinners especially need to show a big jigra to be effective for their teams i.e. knowing when to flight the ball to entice the batsmen, set the batsman up, when to bowl defensively to dry up the runs and create pressure, having the fielders in the right positions in the circle and the boundary. These things are ultimately good for our cricket and will force the bowlers to up their skills, games to survive in their franchises.
Last but not least all the bowlers also need to have tremendous experience, knowledge and understanding of how to bowl with the Dew problem in the second innings.
As far as the batting is concerned, consistently chasing high 180, 190, 200 scores will only give them experience, knowledge, confidence of how to chase scores in the limited overs formats.
Overall kudos to the PCB for creating good wickets for this year's PSL.
