Question mostly for Indians here given your local knowledge but others can chime in too.

I hear+read multiple sources that say even many Indians are not happy with Ahmedabad consistently getting the big finals purely due to political bias. Is this the case?

If Ahmedabad is not an ideal choice in India for finals then which would it be? Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, or Bangalore because those stadiums have a more rich cricketing tradition? But Mumbai seems like a boring run fest, so does Kolkata with smaller boundaries taking spinners out of play, right? Would that mean Chennai or Bangalore could be an ideal choice for finals (in a utopian world without political interference) given their cricket tradition, more level playing field for batsmen and bowlers, and a more sporting crowds?

Any other grounds would be in contention besides these? Delhi or Mohali?

Once The Radisson Blu Miraj Stadium, located in Nathdwara near Udaipur, Rajasthan, complete , it will Host the 2031 World Cup final or champion trophy 2029 final.

This is a India’s first 5-star hotel-integrated cricket stadium, set for a 2026 opening. It features a 50,000-spectator capacity stadium, with nearly 75% of the luxury hotel rooms providing direct views of the field.

PS- This stadium has Ambani connection. This is what matters the most.

lol no Wankhede is the best.
Best how? That is what outsiders want to know. Best in terms of cricket tradition? But the pitch is a road and boundaries are very close which makes it a boring game though? How does Wankhede compare against Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, or Mohali?

2011 final was played there so chill, awesome stand views, boxes, great ambience ,literally everything, and location.
Also one of the stadiums where the celebs old cricketer superstars everyone comes in.

When did pitches make great stadiums? This is not Tennis bro neither test cricket.

Why didn't England fail to chase 196 at wankhede against Windies? Why did Nepal almost beat England at Wankhede. This is a fantastic ground with great bounce. You still need skill to play here.

But the games themselves seem boring in Mumbai when India clearly seems to have better options, or am I wrong?

Boring is an opinion, if anything it was a close game of two proper power houses just like 2011 wc

Boring is when both teams don’t compete: 1999,2003,2007,2015 one sided tournament finals and yet the final played in those stadiums are the stadiums boring?

Motera is a soulless stadium. Wankhede has the history, vibes, traditional test centre, plus Mumbai is Mumbai best chilled crowd and face candies in the stands.

You will get the most knowledgeable crowd in Chennai. Bangalore is more of a six hitting stadia, but really small boundaries.

Mohali or Dharamsala in North India.

To avoid is Kotla, ugly stadium

IT has to be Eden or Ahmedabad, purely fan based, more seats and the possibility of getting tickets

Lol, most of the knowledgeable fans are watching from their houses, now i just see north indians everywhere occupying all major south cities

Bangalore has to renovate big time, match viewing wise and climate the best in south cities, but fan experience in other areas absolute shambles like toileting etc.

I wouldn't mind adding Dharamshala to this list if not again for the tickets. An absolute beauty and a great venue

India needs to rotate it's venues

But doubt it until this govt stays in power

Pitch wise, it is Bangalore because the wicket is even more consistent than Wankhede . And it's actually not been as high scoring as other venues in recent years.

Overall experience might be better in Chennai, Eden and Wankhede.

Cricket in India shouldn't be played outside the major test grounds of Bombay, Madras, Bangalore and Calcutta.

Delhi stadium looks repulsive or atleast it used to. Ahmedabad cauldron is soulless and i feel toxic nationalist vibes whenever i see a game there. Grossly named after Modi too.

Wankhede is best for its atmosphere. It is located at the heart of Mumbai, near to Mukesh Ambani's house and all celebrities are nearby. So the atmosphere it creates in terms of stardom, glamour and glitter is second to none. It is also an iconic ground with history of hosting many big matches. Pitch is also not that bad. Yes it was very flat for this game but normally due to sea breeze it always offers something for seamers.

Ahmedabad stadium on the other hand is massive with world class facilities but located very far from the main city. So it can never match the aura of Wankhede.

Though I agree later gets most of the big finals these days due to politics but our librandus also hate this stadium for same political reason. So they cannot take any moral high ground. If it was not named after Modi, they would have no issues with this stadium. It is the same way how they hate Statue of Unity. Basically anything in Gujarat, they hate :yk

I will not be surprised (infact fairly certain) many of these cretins secretly want India to lose this Sunday so that they can go after PM Sahib. During Asia cup also, many were waiting for India to lose...so that it can be used to corner govt both in Parliament or outside saying Desh ki izzat mitti me mila di, Pakistan se haar gaye, what was the need to play so soon after war, mooh kaala ho gaya etc etc. It is thanks to our brave cricketers they shut them up. Heck some of my librandu friends in UK watching the game sitting with me were not happy when India won that finals. :sree

Question- was India Pakistan during 2023WC an important game? And did Pakistan win it...asking on behalf of a Jammati 😇

Mumbai or kolkata - as per tradition

In terms of size and facilities - ahmedabad and udaipur (soon)

We need to improve the hygiene and facilities of all stadia foremost. Its a hassle to get in and out for any match during ipl

I suppose I'm biased but it's tough to look beyond Wankhede - it's location, glamour, history all make it iconic. I've watched so many games there including and the atmosphere is always electric.

I'll also grudgingly concede Eden Gardens has a certain aura but I wouldn't bring any other stadium into the discussion especially these modern soulless out of the city stadiums.

Feels like a new stadium comes up every 6 months. These old ones without true history get pushed aside unfortunately.
True pca with so many floodlights was nice one

If I'm not wrong it hosted semi of 1996 and 2011 CWC

Plus 2006 champions trophy

How do you compare the aura and tradition of Chennai against Wankhede or Eden Gardens?

I've never watched a game in person at Chepauk so comments about atmosphere are obviously second hand.

Obviously, there's an awesome amount of tradition at Chennai. After all, the stadium is a 100 years old. The difference from Eden and Wankhede though is that the image is more stately and less flash and glamour. Chennai has always been known for classic Tests, a very fair audience - opposition feats always get applause, there's never been the kind of object throwing you see at other Indian grounds, and a genteel sort of image.

I've been to games at Brabourne, Wankhede, Eden, Kotla, Mohali and MCA (Pune) and it's obvious Wankhede and Eden stand out. Kotla( now Jaitley) is the worst.

Indians will not like ahmedabad though... All other stadiums are fine.

Finals should be played on a bigger ground & not small ground like Ahmedabad where boundaries are 55 meters & dew helps side chasing under lights.

In India there are only 3-4 bigger grounds with boundaries over 70-75 meters at all sides. They are Mohali, Chennai, Nagpur & Hyderabad.

Mohali is defunct now with matches being played in new stadium in Chandigarh.

Hopefully India wins the toss tonight.

Without true history is an exaggeration if you do not even know of Punjab’s storied contribution to Indian cricket.

Wankhede, Eden, Chennai. Take your pick of the three. Immerse yourself in the culture of cricket.

Delhi/ Kotla sucks azz.

I would vote for Eden Gardens.

Ahmedabad wouldn't be in my Top #10 even.

Also, you get pizzas in Chennai!

Though you get beer at 40 bucks a pint in Bangalore (unfortunately no pic).

Eden Gardens, Dharmshala and Wankhede in no particular order.

Dharmashala, in terms of scenic beauty. No one comes close.

I would vote for Eden Gardens.

Ahmedabad wouldn't be in my Top #10 even.
It's such a boring city too. Nothing to see, no excitement outside the few days of Navratri and if we win tomorrow, folks can't even celebrate in a pub. Food's Good I suppose - veg of course but also surprisingly non-veg in the Muslim areas.

It's like Germany choosing to place a World Cup final in Bonn, Pakistan in Islamabad or Netherlands in The Hague.
