From what i have seen most people believe that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is best indian bowler right now (maybe due to his ipl performance or t20 performance) but when compared in odi & test format with shami or umesh yadav who is better bowler?

Pros of Bhuvi:
- Good Line & Length
- Gets some swing
- Good at death (in last 1 - 2 years)

Pros of Shami:
- Again good line & length
- Gets reverse swing sometime
- has pace & very good seam position.

Pros of Umesh:
- Very good Pace
- Bowls good when in rythm
- Useful on flat tracks

Well ofcourse stats will change over time.So leave comment on who you feel is best currently.Excluding Bhumrah (didn't play alot in odi + don't play in tests)

Embarrassing that this is best that India's got after years of investment and money. Screw all 3 of them, once in a blue moon performers. Identify 2-3 20 year old raw talents from the Domestic scene and immediately send them to England/ Australia permanently for two-three years to hone their skills because if there's anything Indian cricket's 80 year history has taught us - Indian cricket can't train world class fast bowlers. Even if BCCI spends half it's budget trying to create a single Test sub 25 averaging fast bowler; I doubt they could. We just don't have the culture. Better send raw talents to the county scene at an early age so that they can be proper bowlers by around 25.

1, Shami
2, Bhuvi
3, Yadav

Interesting to note all 3 have a UP background. Just like me.

I guess is mostly because cricket balls in india are mostly made in UP and bowlers there get a ball for very cheap rate.

This. The truth is money can't make a fast bowler. If you see origins of any great fast bowler (from any country), you'll realize they were all poor and had to work their socks off to get in national side. As they say, fast bowlers are born, not made.

To OP: Shami is better than other two.

Maybe bowlers need to play county cricket more and leave ipl & t20 cricket & focus on List A & First Class matches.Problem is india never had greatest fast bowler (kapil was good bowler or great all rounder but not greatest bowler) so country follows sachin , dravid , ganguly , dhoni & kohli not kapil , srinath or zaheer but we can see pakistan's fast bowlers or austrilia/south africa's fast bowler and take positives from it.

Personally, I expected much more from Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav.

Wasim Akram said on TV (some years ago) that both are India's future in test cricket. But, like all Indian pacers, they were a disappointment.

Shami is the true heir to Zaheer Khan, he can become a class Test bowler and is already a good ODI bowler too, India should persist with him till he retires since he's the only one who I don't think will fade away.

He is very good bowler but most people underrate him maybe because he is injured alot.

Is Umesh Yadav India's most underrated fast bowler?

Time and again I have seen Umesh Yadav bowl beauties to top batsmen and get their wickets. He is the fastest bowler in the Indian camp and can pitch it up and swing it at pace.

- He is the highest wicket-taker among all pacers in Asia for the last 2 years in test matches.

- He is also the joint 9th highest wicket taker among all pacers in the world in ODIs for the last 5 years.

- And also the joint 2nd highest wicket taker among all Indian bowlers (pace & spin) in ODIs in the last 5 years.

- India's highest wicket-taker in CWC2015

Yet he hardly gets picked for any matches. Even in after picking up 3 for 30 against Pakistan in the opening match of CT17, he was dropped after the next match against SL. Indian management replaced Umesh with Ashwin who then went on to pick up a grand total of 1 wicket in the next 3 matches.

The Indian team management wasting the potential of a fine fast bowler by keeping him on the bench most of the time.

it's Mohammad shami by fair distance. umesh should not be mentioned along with shami. He is pretty average in all 3 formats. He averages more than 30 in tests as well as Odis.

Kumar is brilliant bowler but i will prefer current shami who is deadly these days

Shami is a really fine bowler. Should definitely play instead of Bhuvi. It means that India are not as reliant on Bumrah.

Shami is overall better than Bhuvi and Umesh is not even in the same universe.
