Bollywood is running out of scripts these days and seems like every other movie is either a sports biopic or nationalistic movie. It's not that I hate patriotic movies, but Swades is my kinda patriotic movie which I really loved, not a movie where an Indian soldier defeats an entire platoon of enemy soldiers.

It needs to look towards regional cinema for inspiration which makes movies that are rooted in the culture of the region and makes good movies, but then again Bollywood has started remaking regional cinema these days. Bollywood should reinvent itself I feel.

Yeah Swades was one of the movies which moved me very much. Absolutely love the "yeh jo desh hai tera" song in the movie, one of my most favourite hindi songs along with Luka chuppi from Rang de Basanti which was another movie based around patriotism. Bollywood unfortunately doesn't make movies like that nowadays and is now hell bent on creating movies based on jingoism.

They even made a film called Gunda showing to Bangladeshi refugee friends became big mafia gundas in India doing crimes and bad stuffs. So true. There was a certain aura about Swades and Veer Zaara. Watched both movies in the cinema.

Its a good thread as a library for comedy movies coming out of India. I might try them one day.

But you should be asking for reasons why Indians easily accept false historical accounts in the movies which claim to be based on true stories?.

1. History is not taught in Hindustan

2. Hindutva history & science is superior

3. The viewers like to live in a delusional world

Movies are work of fantasy. In south Indian films, when the actor punches and 10 men are flying, it doesn't mean people are unaware of reality. Sometimes people watch just for entertainment regardless the accuracy.

Even classic films like Braveheart has been accused of historic inaccuracies.

In India, Bollywood works for spreading false narrative. neutral defence experts says India didnt do surgical strike in 2016, but still Bollywood made the movie "Uri" about it. for what reason ? to alter the historical fact .
