Bowl better in nets than matches

Hey guys, new season just started and I'm so frustrated. I bowl so quick in nets (by club standard) and have been measured at 120kph+ and my line length etc. is great. But then in matches I become a trundler. I just can't seem to use my action properly. I think it's partly due to being scared of bowling a bad ball. Also holding back on my pace means I can't seem to put the ball where I want it to go. It's so frustrating because I end up bowling so poorly.

Has anyone experienced the same? And any tips on fixing this?

You have to get over this mental block ali_786. Talk to your captain or coach (someone senior in the team) and I'm sure they'll convince you that it doesn't matter if you a bowl a bad ball. Players do it all the time. You just need to forget about that, clear your mind and just run it and let the bowling do the talking. Easier said than done I know but it helps 10x if you have a more focused and calmer mind.

By the looks of it, your pace and accuracy is great. You're just half way there. Get over the mental block and unleash your bowling on the world!

It is hard to say without further info.
Is the coach/captain standing over you in the nets? You just need the captain to give you confidence and pump you up even if you bowl a few bad balls.
Or maybe the batsman in your team are not as good as the ones you have to bowl at in the matches?

Stop worrying about bowling bad balls. Go all out even if you spray the ball. It doesn't matter what your team or coach thinks. Forget about everything. Let em all have it! You got those 6 balls and they can't take it away from you!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa! Good luck! :wasim

Practice over and over in the nets until your action is second nature and you can do it with your eyes closed. This includes your run up, too many bowlers ignore their run up during net practice when it's just as important as the rest of the action. Practice like you would if it was a game, if you run in from 15 paces in a match then run in from 15 paces in the nets for every single ball.

The less you need to think about what you're doing, the less likely it is that things will go wrong in a game.

You aren't practicing enough. Bowling once a week for 2 hours with 5 others isn't good enough. Bowling has to become your instinct/second nature. You must practice over and over until you can run up and bowl instead of taking taking 5 mins of trundling to "warm up" or "get your rhythm". You will only bowl well outdoor if you feel 100% confident in your bowling. Remember the ball comes a bit slower outside than inside.

I've had the same problem in the past but for batting but that came down mainly to lack of experience playing in the middle. The more games you play the better you'll get, play practice games with friends in the park or something if there is a cricket pitch there

Probably over doing it in the nets. Practice outdoors.

Its probably because ur not really looking at your run up in the nets but in matches you try to be so careful that ur bowling goes bad.
