Breaking Bad [SPOILER ALERT]

Great show and a very good ending - no loose end went untied unlike some other shows.

Quite sad to see it go though.

Simply Brilliant end to the brilliant show. gonna miss it real bad

Thank You #BreakingBad for making bad so good

Just finished watching it, although pretty inevitable end it was still a fantastic episode and wrapped things up pretty well.

Great ending to a top show. Probably wouldn't have ever watched it if it wasn't for this thread and the TV shows you recommend thread, so thanks bros.

I feel a bit sad that its over. Its been a real emotional roller coaster.

Pretty predictable and too much of a happy ending. It really didn't live up to previous episodes.
Also, a lot of unlikely events like Walter's super sneak ability.

The machin gun tourette was dope though.

Just finished watching the first season, i admit it has some compelling characters and addictive plot which we all can relate to and things are kept so simple yet so sophisticated which makes the show intriguing but no where near the level of LOST, but will have to see the remaining seasons to see how the two compare although their respective genres completely separates them, was surprised at first that guy who was a legend in malcolm in the middle was playing the lead role but he is perfect for it.

Excellent.

Best season = 4.

Would have liked to see a bit of the future as well though.

Jesse will probably end up in prison.
Is there an antidote for ricin? Considering that Walt told Lydia what he gave her. I don't want her to survive. >.>

Season 1 was not the best but it is still better than every single Lost season. The later had a nice premise and but it failed in both of its pretensions, as a psychological drama (because the character, although with nice intial stories, showed almost no believable progress, made unconstant decisions following what the plot needed and evolved through stair progress to, again, suit to plot) and as a thriller through the overuse of game changing cliffhangers that were not that game changing and ominiscient characters that were not that omniscient (included jacob and man in black), which is what made the thrill initially (holy sh*t moments like the station discovery, Ben, the moment where the numbers are not given to the computer,...).

I didn't mind the end since I liked the explanation but it is nowhere near as good as its fans make it out to be for the main reason that, same as many tv series, writers create the plot, initial characters and first season without pre-planning the end or the character progression, which lost writers tried to hide (and fooled many fans) but was ultimately jarring. This is a default you find in BB characters like Jesse and Marie but, as a whole, the writing of Walter White and its service by the directing (ie cinematography, visual symbolism and clues, music,...) is so infinitely superior to lost that it isn't even a contest.

My favourite show is Game of Thrones and I am not as attached with BB characters as I am with Got's but even I recognize that Breaking Bad is the best drama (not counting mainly funny shows thus) out there, and in the top tier of all time (sherlock, game of thrones, sopranos, the wire and the shield). Lost, on the other hand, in my opinion, is counted among second tier shows like the Walking Dead, Dexter, Prison Break, Spartacus,... And the gap between top and second tier is huge, the first one being closer to
long films that take advantage of the long format to develop characters and stories more than a movie, while the second one is more good writers that make a nice pilot/first season with a good premise, have maybe the end vaguely in head and then create seasons in between according to the success of the show with side-plots emerging if needed (ie the old model of tv shows before cable standards).

Re: Breaking Bad

1st 4 seasons of Dexter could be considered first tier. 5th and 6th are second tier at best. 7th is 1.5 tier. 8th on the other hand doesn't even come close to 4th tier. It's crapola of a new level.

Firefly for it's one season was a potential first tier show that was screwed over by the devil Murdoch.

Yes, as well as Heroes and Prison Break. But the fact that they are not able to hold it for all the duration of the show signifies that these are still from the old tv mentality of ''good premise, first season and then we'll see''.

A show should be judged by its length and how well different seasons come together as intended from the start, otherwise one could just make long 3-4 hour movies (and, even then, end the movie at the end of Kill Bill 1 without closure) instead of making a show which should take advantage of the long multi-season format like BB did.

I know that Got and Sherlock are not over yet so I was wrong to group them with the others since, as you said, first 4 seasons of Dexter could be considered equal to them and we don't know whether these shows will maintain their standards.

Lol good insight bro are you a writer haha

Am just comparing the first seasons bro, i have not watched the final season of lost yet even lol. But seriously the first season of LOST is just breath-taking, the way the show was written, to the set design, directing and music i was just in awe of it all and perplexed by the plot dying to watch the next episode and its just me i never felt that way with breaking bad. I have never been taken on a journey by a TV show more then LOST, from the start of the first season you feel as if you have been taken to an alien world which is very much like your own but completely different with its facinating behaviours which continously evolved with the suspense and mystery building continuously, the flash backs of the characters lives off the island were simply brilliant in explaning their behaviour on the island and giving an insight in to their thinking patterns. So many different characters were given a great deal of importance which was great to see but i agree it went off the raills in season 2 and in particular revelations were anti-climatic but it still maintained my interest and you have to remember it is a psycholohlgical thriller and it i meant to be complex but i agree there is a line which you don't cross when it comes to the viewers perception but i like shows that keep you thinking. And you are right it was evident through various episodes that you felt the writers must have constructed the structure of the plot on the go rather then having pre-planned after the first season. In breaking bad i appreciate the in depth detail and character development put into walter, everything the writers wrote, every incident had significance and importance but even then the first season of LOST is better then the first season of breaking bad in my opinion, i just found it more captivating.

Well, it is both your personal opinion that defends itself and your incomplete opinion so debating it will only serve to spoil you, which I already did in my last post.
Be sure to give your opinion when you have watched both shows.

First season of game of thrones is better then both though

fitting end to the show, i was so caught up in the finale i forgot about the actual story and was imagining walt cooking again in the final scene when hes walking around in the lab again, and when i see the police sirens in the background is when it hit, its over.... great choice of songs too, every detail was sorted with a fine tooth comb and results are evident.

[UTUBE]h77ngzK97zo[/UTUBE]

edit- i also liked the fact that in the end it wasnt the cancer, or jesse, or hank or the neo nazis, it was heisenberg that killed walt, in spirit and in flesh. the symbolism of the final scene was very strong, and although the ending could have appeared cliche, the finesse with which it was handled made it an exceptional tv moment.

Most people hated themselves for watching Lost after watching the ending. But the ending wasn't bad. It was better than Dexter's crappy ending. Woodcutter Dex :)))

The perfect ending to the Best TV show ever.

Breaking Bad is without a doubt the best TV show that i have ever seen.

Yeap. Felt the same.

The symbolism was evident, almost to the point of probably being too obvious or contrived. But it was still fitting and you wouldn't want it to have ended any other way.

One of the few shows that ended well. Too many shows try and do the fancy shock ending that really ruins it all instead.

Jesse will probably end up in prison.
Is there an antidote for ricin? Considering that Walt told Lydia what he gave her. I don't want her to survive. >.>

Nope.. no cure.. What Walter did to Lydia was my favorite part of the episode. It was poetic and it was brutal and it was brilliant.

My favourite part was where they mentioned Islamabad.

Felt good to be given a nod in the final episode, long overdue. :akhtar

I liked the ending too. At least the twins plot.
The problem is that they narrated the show in way that seemed to mean they had a grander plan in head for seasons 3 and after, which made both the success and the bane of the show.

The ending would have been better if Walt went into witness program and then Malcolm in the middle started.

Re: Breaking Bad

Brilliant ending, many good things BUT particularly enjoyed Jesse "making" that wooden box and Walt admitting to Skyler that he enjoyed it

Best show ever

One you are finished with this series you will be calling that show LOLst

Awesome ending. Easily one of the best, not too rushed, and very satisfying. I think Jesse making that box was a reference to something he mentioned in one of the earlier eps where he talks about making a wooden box in school and how it was the only time he felt he'd accomplished something in his life.

The fact that Lydia actually knows of her death is scary, it was cruel of Walt no doubt but at least it means that maybe she can make some preparations for what happens with her money when she's gone. I recall her having a daughter.

The one slight criticism I have though is that, the ending kind of lets Walt off a little lightly, I mean I didn't want him to suffer or anything but in the end he gets to tie up all his loose ends and also dies with a smile on his face, I guess after what he did, I don't think he deserved all that.

Brilliant ending, nonetheless.

Fans were way too attached for the ending to be different and more severe.

I think it was perfect. He dies, but on his own terms.

The episode still didn`t resolve the issue with Huell. Did somebody tell him he can leave the sofa now

:))) :)))

Forgot about that.

I'm sure that will be resolved when he is back in the spinoff being made around Saul.

So i have been hearing about this show for such a long time. I knew if i start watching this show i would get addicted to it..... So finally i decided to watch this show for the first time yesterday and i have been so hooked up to it, that i spent watching the first 2 seasons in two nights.....

I just ended up watching Season 2, i have to say that its a hell of a show.... Ironically, the series final was on 29....

You made a great choice! It only gets better.

Re: Breaking Bad

You made a great choice! It only gets better.

Now i cant decide whether to watch season 3 tommarow nite or the pak vs sa match...

Anyways, i couldnt believe it yesterday that the main character of the show was Bryan cranston. I remember this guy as being a boring character from malcolm in the middle, i was stunned for a seconds after finding out it was him... Marvelous actting he has done. Really hard to recognize.

That's my opinion guys I love Prison Break. I just didn't like the Breaking Bad as much as I like prison break. what's wrong with that? I did say its a good show, it was an amazing show but not as good as the prison break.

In 4 days i finish 4 seasons, hell of a series it has been... can't wait to watch season 5 tom....

missed the whole pak vs sa series....

Lol @ Prison Break better than BrBa.

1. Sopranos

2. The Wire

3. BrBa

GoT might be better than them but I stopped watching for now.

For people that havent watched Sopranos yet...I recommend watching other shows before you start Sopranos. Pretty much everything pales in comparison imo.

Re: Breaking Bad

I really liked Prison Break (Season 1 and 2) BUT it isn't a patch on Breaking Bad

I rewatched Prison Break a couple of months ago, whilst it was good the level of acting was a bit average, especially in comparison to Breaking Bad

Dear Mister Cranston.

I wanted to write you this email – so I am contacting you through Jeremy Barber – I take it we are both represented by UTA . Great agency.

I’ve just finished a marathon of watching "BREAKING BAD" – from episode one of the First Season – to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. (I downloaded the last season on AMAZON) A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing.

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen – ever.

I know there is so much smoke blowing and sickening b*****t in this business, and I’ve sort of lost belief in anything really.

But this work of yours is spectacular – absolutely stunning. What is extraordinary, is the sheer power of everyone in the entire production. What was it? Five or six years in the making? How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers…. every department – casting etc. managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is (that over used word) awesome.

From what started as a black comedy, descended into a labyrinth of blood, destruction and hell. It was like a great Jacobean, Shakespearian or Greek Tragedy.

If you ever get a chance to – would you pass on my admiration to everyone – Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Aaron Paul, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Steven Michael Quezada – everyone – everyone gave master classes of performance … The list is endless.

Thank you. That kind of work/artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence.

You and all the cast are the best actors I’ve ever seen.

That may sound like a good lung full of smoke blowing. But it is not. It’s almost midnight out here in Malibu, and I felt compelled to write this email.

Congratulations and my deepest respect. You are truly a great, great actor.

Best regards

Tony Hopkins.

and ended up watching all 5 seasons in 5 days. The final ending story in the last two episodes was good, it really showed how gray matter made him do all this, making meth was the one thing he was the best at, and did it for himself not for family.

One thing i wanted the ending to have was Jesse Acknowledging Walt's care for him. Even in the last episode he saves Jesse.

Mike was my favorite character. Wonderful acting by him, and in his last appearance the way he dies, it just shows that its time Walter needs to stop with the meth business, its all over.

The Real Walter White

When AMC's Breaking Bad premiered in 2008, one of Alabama's most successful meth cooks was already knee deep in building a massive meth empire. His name? Walter White. In this documentary, Walter tells us the secret behind his product, how he stacked up thousands of dollars per day, and why his partner is now serving two life sentences.

'Better Call Saul' will start next year, might watch the first few.. doubt it will be that great, apparently they're one hour episodes.

According to what I read during the BB finale it's whole running time will be 60 like the last few episodes of the main series.

edit - imdb say the same - not sure if this is based on rumour though, 60 seems like overkill for Saul, especially as his role usually got limited camera time.

Finished this show finally. Great great final season. Especially the last few episodes were perfect. Last season was so dark especially the second half. Good to see Walt somewhat redeem himself. Perfect ending really though would have loved a Hank funeral scene.

10/10 for a draining and fulfilling final season. :14:

Your name will never be forgotten Walter White.

Re: Breaking Bad

youre always late to everything lf.

Smartly, I avoided going to imdb boards, talking to friends about it, reading reviews, going to tvtropes so I had the intended reaction to all the twists especially a certain one involving Todd Alquist and Drew Sharp. :jm

Ending the show, with the show itself was epic! BTW good job avoiding all the spoilers.

In another news, some fans had a real life ceremony for walter white's death... -.- lol OTT there.

My favourite scene was when Jack is telling Walt that he will tell him where the rest of the money is and if he dies he won't....BAM!!!! :)))

I just finished this show after several months of times of friends recommending it to me. This show is the greatest I've seen. The thing that this show has going for it is it's emotionally drenching characters and deep story arcs that will have your brain on meltdown. The third last episode 'Ozymandias' is the best! The impact it had is unrivalled. It has certain scenes that just cut off the development of characters straight away and it makes you question how much further can the writers take them?

The last two episodes were kind of a letdown for me. They were still fantastic don't get me wrong. It just felt like a bit of a drop from 'Ozymandias' - given how stellar that episode was, I wouldn't blame the show for dropping in quality a bit.

Ozymandias is definitely the best episode, I also found the scene where he refused treatment when they were sitting in the circle really emotional. But the last 2 episodes were also epic, the penultimate episode could have ended on it's own as it was, the only episode where they played the full theme at the end.

But yeah the choice of music, scenes, emotional grip, and above all the acting of Bryan Cranston really defined it (he was so likeable in Malcom in the Middle). My favourite series ever and I don't think it could ever be surpassed, followed by Prison Break. I have Soprano's on Blu-Ray but haven't had time to watch it, but couple of my friends say it's just as good.

Yeah agreed with pretty much everything you said. The direction, writing, music and camera were all up to perfection. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul brought their characters to life and I actually started feeling sympathy for them. The depiction of the evolution of Walt's character is probably the best TV I've seen my whole life. The way that culminated in the last episode was just brilliant.

The only time I saw Bryan Cranston before this was in Malcolm in the Middle. So literally, he's become one of my top favourite actors.

So, has anyone started watching "Better Call Saul"? If so, any feedback?
