After LOST ending and catching up on The Wire, I moved onto Dexter which is an awesome series but season 6 doesn't start until September.

I started watching Breaking Bad and I have found it to be brilliant. The acting is amazing and the writing is good as well.

Season 3 ended on such a cliffhanger!

Can't wait for Season 4 to start.

Its coming back on July 17th! My friends and I are gonna have a Breaking Bad Marathon before Season 4 comes out :)

What's it about?

high school chemistry teacher who has been kicked around in life, discovers that he is sick and about to die from cancer, so decides to start making crystal meth so as to leave some money for his family...and so onwards.

Is it just me or Skyler is kind of annoying?

highly annoying.

Is it just me or Skyler is kind of annoying?

Yes, I agree BUT fortunately Walter more than makes up for it

The show is excellent, one of those that gets better as it progresses - loved the 3rd season and not long left til the 4th starts

where's the Sopranos?

Exactly.

My favourite 'serious ones' from the US TV:

1. Sopranos.
2. West Wing
3. 24
4. Prison Break Seasons 1 and 2
5. The HBO historical/fantasy ones: Boardwalk Empire / Rome / True Blood etc

Not even heard of Dexter and Breaking Bad etc. :20:

24 was just too good.

Prison Break became a joke after the second season.

never watched WW.

tried to watch True Blood but it was so incredibly boring...BE is great, haven't seen Rome yet.

Dexter is very good, highly recommend.

I was a huge fan of 24 and watched them all BUT have to admit they really did drain every ounce of blood from it, dragged on too long and kinda became a bit ridiculous - still Jack Bauer is a legend

WW has the best dialogues ever - funny, witty, intelligent, pithy and meaningful too. Especially the first 4 seasons written by Sorkin. The character development and the plots and the production values are also truly immense.

If it wasn't for their generally left-wing politics, it'd be my #1 ;-)

Yep, Prison Break should have ended after season 2. Season 3 was horrible and 4 was just

What is Dexter about? Isn't that a cartoon of a guy with big glasses? :13:

Agreed 100%. They stretched it so much that Jack became the proverbial cat with nine lives - could have died so many times but didn't!!

This is where West Wing and Sopranos are so great - the plots even in the latter seasons were great, and didn't appear forcibly stretched. If anything, West Wing became more interesting from a plotting and storyline perspective in seasons 6 and 7, though the screenplay wasn't as brilliant as the initial seasons (though the dialogue was still far better than anything else written in a 'serious' US TV production).

haha too true - but nobody kicks ass like Jack frickin' Bauer!

its about a bloke who is a blood spatter specialist, works for the Miami PD forensics department by day...and is a serial killer at night.

excellent show.

Saw season 1 a few months ago - is season 2 out already?

Was brilliant.

Breaking Bad and Hung are the 2 best Midseason series...the scripts of both are just awesome

just read the synopsis for Hung, sounds interesting...

anybody seen United States of Tara? quirky show, I like it.

Breaking bad is an awesome series. The story, acting and suspense created is all top-notch, and the two main actors fully deserve the numerous awards and accolades they have received. I would recommend anyone to watch the pilot to get an idea of the story arc (i.e. the main protagonist is a downbeat but brilliant Chemistry teacher, whose wife is heavily pregnant and son suffers from Cerebal Palsy, and discovers he has terminal cancer. He stumbles across an old student running away from a drugs raid and approaches him with an intriguing offer)

Having watched the first season recently, I was surprised to discover that a further two full seasons had been completed. I could not understand how the story arc could be maintained. Having now watched all three seasons, I am absolutely hooked. Not only have they expanded each individual, they have expertly brought in new personnel who have all enhanced the drama and narrative.

I also love the way the characters grapple with the moral and philosophical questions that are continuously raised during the course of each season. Brilliant stuff

As far as my favourite TV shows, it would have to be:
1. Sopranos,
2. Sopranos (sorry, that series is just excellent, started watching it again on Sky Atlantic and have fallen in love with it again),
3. Breaking Bad,
4. The Wire,
5. Curb your enthusiasm,
6. The Office (UK original, don’t like the US version as much),
7. Extras.

Curb your enthusiasm may take some time getting into, but when you do, it is absolute comedy gold.

Loved Breaking Bad. Cannot wait for another season. However in my list of all time shows it doesn't register in the top 5, which are:

1. The Wire - just wow....saw the sopranaos and the shield before this but nothing can touch this for overall drama and storytelling....

2. The Sopranos

3. The Shield

4. Entourage

5. The Inbetweeners - awesome and amazingly funny comedy......

special mention to The Broadwalk Empire but not enough seasons to really give a fair rating.

Also just started watching The Chicago Code - looks half decent

Anyone seen Justified? Watched the first episode to try to get into it as it has good reviews, and I have to say, it's pretty good. Can't really judge it on one episode, so need some opinions as to whether I should watch it.

Yep saw the whole first season last year - was quite good, not great or anything, but decent.

The killer in the story for me is his relationship with his brother-in-law, who just so happens to be a bad-ass DEA detective.

Never heard of it. I havent really watched any show after white collar ended (thought I'd give it a try--a below average show)..now I am just watching the office(usa) on netflix.

Great show but still doesn't come close to The Wire or The Sopranos. I am now going to start The Shield, has anyone seen it? Also I would like to watch another season of 24 having watched season 1 and 2, which season should I go for?

where's the Sopranos?

That's next on my list to watch. After finishing "Breaking Bad", I've moved on to "The Walking Dead."

After that is Sopranos.

From what I've heard of it, I'm sure it'll be near the top of my list once I catch up.

season 3.

I don't remember them all, but they are all related...somebody may come back 2 seasons later and you wouldn't want to not know who they are.

Yeah thats true, so I guess I'll just skip it. I had great fun for the 1st two seasons but I knew that the others are going to be similar i.e. Jack Bauer struggles big time for the first 23 hours and then the 24th hour, miraculously turns over the tables.

One of my favourite Breaking Bad scenes...always creeps me out!

Yes, it's awesome but had I known the 3rd season would end on such a cliffhanger, I would've waited until a 4th a season was closer before marathoning it.

Dexter was awesome too but the 5th season was a bit bit boring, 1st and 4th were the best.

As for Sopranos, it was okay but nowhere near as good as it's made out to be, imo. Had its moments especially towards the end but the ending was a dirty move by the staff:@

Aw man, this was intense. Especially when he takes the sheets off.

^lol, the whole last minute of "One Minute" was the most suspenseful stuff I've watched in my life. It's not that huge of a cliff hanger for two reasons, 1). you just finished it, it'll be back in a few months. 2). spoiler:

Jesse clearly shoots him, it's the camera that moves, not his gun. I thought the episode before the finale was better, but the moment when Walt reads Mike (hope he returns btw) the address was dope.

As the record-holder for the longest-running drama series of its kind - a title that is going to be with the show for a long time - 24 justifies itself. Seasons 1, 2, and 5 are television classics, 3 and 7 are strong, and 4 is flawed but compulsively watchable. The only poor season is 6, and even that has its moments (i.e. the first four episodes being so good that they work as a mini-season of sorts).

I know it represents the moment when they realised they'd exhausted the format, but I still think season 8 is better than 6 - it really strips Jack down and makes things personal. The only time he has seemed as ruthless and demented as that is when he took on Saunders (as an aside, that scene with Jane, Stephen and Jack outside the hotel is incredible, maybe my favourite ever from the show - and there have been a few contenders over the years). I love the ending too - it is both a crowd pleaser, and the only way the show could ultimately have worked out.

Can't wait for the summer, going to be a 24 marathon in between 2nd year finishing and 3rd year starting. Might get some research and dissertation planning done in there as well...

I don't think he does. I think he actually shoots Victor

@ Geordie - SPOILERS

No no, I don't think that'd make sense. Victor left from a place further than him and would thus arrive after him, meaning he'd be behind him or coming in from the side. We'd see Victor in the apartment.

I hope they don't cop out - I want Jesse to kill him. Jesse's been the relatively 'good' one in the Walt-Jesse partnership. Yes, he's a junkie and constantly ruins his own life and others BUT he doesn't have the destructive and downright evil tendencies that Walt does. Remember when he called the police for the kid he found in the junkies house? Wanting to kill the guys who killed the girls brother? Good things. If he actually does shoot Gale, would show how Walt negatively effects people.

Also this from a BB wiki:

He raises his eyes up to Jesse and appears to focus his vision on the barrel of the gun. A second later, he pulls the trigger and the gun goes off (Full Measure).

Makes sense, right?

Hmmm - I don't know, like you say deep down Jesse is a good guy and killing someone, especially an "innocent" guy like Gale is not something I think he could do. I can't fully remember how far out Jesse and Victor were BUT I reckon Victor probably entered from the back and Jesse shoots him, just a feeling I have got. Can't wait til the 4th season starts cos I need to know what happens

spoiler alert

For some reason, I thought the première would be two hours long but it was only an hour in length :(. Apart from that, not a lot happened in this episode (besides that gruesome throat slitting scene). It was an okay episode by Breaking Bad standards (although, I do wonder what will happen now...because, the episode ended off with that lab notebook being left behind at the crime scene). I think Jesse and Walter will try to kill Gus and succeed. I see Walter as becoming the next Gus.

***********spoiler alert***********

I thought it was a brilliant episode. Granted a lot did not happen BUT what happened was undoubtedly powerful. The major part was that scene, that was epic. I did not expect that BUT when you think about it, it makes sense because Victor was seen at the crime scene so he had to be disposed of.

I guess I was wrong, even though it was the logical thing to do I did not think Jesse would go ahead with it

**SPOILER ALERT**

I just can't figure out why didn't Mike or Victor threaten Walt's family when he gave the order to Jesse to kill Gale? There would have been no way Walt would have allowed Jesse to go ahead with it then.

I can see the family threat coming into play at some point, but that would be lame compared to using it at that critical moment.

Not sure if I'm missing something here, but it does seem very odd to me.

**SPOILER ALERT**

Just started watching this show.

Have finished up to season 3. Epic. Simple as that.

New season is bananas. Straight up Bananas. I love it.

Some people complain that it's slow but I strongly disagree. Show is downright amazing.

Is it just me or Skyler is kind of annoying?

 Worst character on TV...

Some moments of this show are just epic and brilliant..

Mild Spoiler

Walter: "...run" :O

This would be my list of fav TV shows: :adnan

1) Entourage/Prison Break
2) The Inbetweeners
3) How i met your mother
4) Lost
5) Breaking bad

I've always wanted to watch the Wire, but its just too long

I don't know, it seems they are stretching things out too much.

I am sure it'll pick up more as we get deeper into the season.

I hate Skyler but she's been pretty decent this season.

Next season of BB will be it's last. 16 episodes. Sounds solid.

Quite possibly the lamest quote of the entire series said by Skyler in the last scene.

Ok, maybe its because it was Skyler who said it, but my hate for her character grows every episode.

***SPOILER ALERT***

What's Skyler upto? With the flipping coin, I think she is going to turn Walter in or help police with investigation.

@ GC and co.

"Problem Dog" = one of the best, if not the best, episodes of the series?

The scene with Jesse ("I came here to sell you meth") has got to be the moment of the show. How ridiculously good, and a great yard stick for how much innocence the characters have lost.

Yeah, best of the current season so far. Not sure if best overall though.

Needless to say, the less of Skyler, the better the episode :P

I wonder who Gustavo Fring is? That is, why didn't that guy kill him because he knew who he was. That's what's bothering me the most.

I'm going to check Breaking Bad when I get the time.

For any serious follower of TV shows, you should watch Six Feet Under (mature content).

It is perhaps the greatest show ever made. I'm a big fan of Dexter as well, but Six Feet Under is on a completely different level of story-telling, drama and acting.

Haven't seen Breaking bad, next on the list. Here are my favourites:

1) The Wire
2) Sopranos
3) Game of Thrones (loses out to Sopranos since its only first season)
4) Luther (BBC UK)
5) Justified
6) Sons of Anarchy (Season 4 started)
7) Office (US version)
8) Entourage (Sniff, final episode this week)
9) NYPD Blue
10) 30 Rock

Looking forward to Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire.

^^^^ You have to see Game of Thrones....Add MAD MEN to that list and also Walking Dead

The season is getting pretty intense.

And the pattern of "Less Skyler, Better Episode" continues.

@ Qazzarfan,

My mistake, forgot to add 'Mad Men' to the list, great show as well.

I saw the first season of walking dead, not a big fan.

So, are you guys of the opinion Gus is of the gays? Strong hints in last week's episode.

"They like what they see" - when Tio is peeing in the pool

"Dark meat and white meat, I don't see no brothers"

I really liked the scene where Walt asked Jesse about the text message and how calm he was when he knew he was lying. Walt's been wearing his heart on his sleeve, more or less, and saying everything that comes to mind. Even though he was bang on right about the robbery being a ruse set up by Gus, the way he went about explaining it to Jesse made him come across as crazy. Similar to Gus, I think he'll put up an emotional "wall" and be a bit more pragmatic about his options.

Love GUS! him and and that old guy that world for him.Best characters in the show. Walt's brother in law and tuco are awesome too. Skyler get son my nerves though.

Season 1 seems to be a bit slow picking up steam, does it get better after that?
