Todays inns was a mixture of impact and flash in pan.
Southee bowled 2 slower balls with plenty of width and got smacked for two 6s
Target 24 off 21 balls. A walk in park now with wickets in hand. So then southee bowls a short ball at the body, swing and miss.
then a 2nd quick short ball and same dumb shot.
then a 3rd quick short ball at body and gets hit.
it was brainless cricket for 3 balls, where was game management, ok he might of got lucky and edged one of the keeper but its was clear against faster shorter stuff he was struggling.
bowlers wont forget that.
yes he smacked a six of boult.
i think there was some brilliance today but also brain fades and unless that changes then today will just be a flash in pan.
unlikely, nz feilded a very conventional attack, and even then he didn't attempt to take on santner (which was the right thing to do).
he needs to be partnered with someone who can attack spin, because he isnt so good, especially mystery spinners.
but if a team have length bowling seamers, he will destroy them every now and then.
It was not brainless. He won us the game today.
Sixes were needed at the end, and his two shots is what made the runs and balls equal. The intent was good there was no need for him to play slow. We had Shadab and Hasan ali in the back who could had done that if needed.
His 3 siexes and 2 fours are what helped us in finishing the game.
Did you actually read what i wrote?
Im not disputing the 2 sixes have changed the game. But why when you have brought the run rate back under control (24 needed off 21) do you play 3 dumb shots after it, thats not intent thats stupidity and poor game management. if some one has bowled two quick short balls at the body and uve missed why attempted it on a 3rd ball?
You cant just win a game all time trying to smack every ball for six. This is the reason why hes failed over in his pakistans career then you get the odd flash in pan today.
you dont see josh butler doing this every ball.
We get these false dawns but lets hope he kicks on. On faster pitches against faster bowler he will do what he has done all his career
Yeah. He may struggle on faster pitches (SENA countries).
But, he is a good option for Asian pitches.
He did nothing wrong playing those shots after the 2 sixes. Asif Ali's strength is to strike the ball.
Look at what Fakhar did. Had fakhar played his shots he would had done well most probably instead he got out by playing defence.
When Asif smacked the 2 sixes, the runs over ball had reduced and he rightly should had tried to whack it away to finish the game. We had shadab and Hasan Ali who could had just finish it as run a ball if required.
Santner still had an over and it was better for Asif to shorten the game there. He plays his shot well. He is not like buttler who has other shots to.
