All three of them are last stage of the respective career .

Due to weak indian bowling attacks ( Only bumrah is quality bowler) it has to be one of Smith and marnus.
 
Very low on confidence with aging people. Also a team with no plan B. They will lose all 5 and phasing out of oldies will beging after this series one way or the other.

Bumrah is enough on his own to take them down.

If 0-5 happens, it means Kohli and Rohit will retire at the end of 5th test.

However I feel India will manage to win 1 Test at least. Batting is weak and this time Shami is also not fit. A lot depends on how Bumrah and his partner Siraj/Akashdeep/Harshit Rana bowl.

I don't like Indian batting with Abhimanyu guy opening with Jaiswal and Sarfraz Khan. They will not last long. We have seen how Abhimanyu struggled against Australia B team recently. Indian batting looks wobbly and borderline pedestrian.
 
No chance for India, Pat Cummins and Starc are hungry for wickets. This series is going to be disaster for India. India is trying to portray Aussies their rivals but nothing can beat ashes

As per ci,jurel is sure at 5.Easwaran and sarfaraz are not going to make it. Worst of all Kl as opener in place of rohit.So kl and kohli are 2 walking wickets .Number 8 is still an issue as we don't have enough batting muscle there with available pace options. Definitely rohit and kohli will retire after a drubbing. U can see in social media too.There are no pr campaigns for both of them . they want to go unnoticed till the last match .

I think our best bet is Perth after batting 1st.It is very tough to bat at last .so we have to hope we can score 200 to 250 and equally regressing aus seniors will be under pump.We don't have any chance on batting pitches like mcg and scg unless our youngsters score 150.
 
In the absence of Rohit, I think India is not gonna make a mistake but playing a new guy up top like easwaran. They will surely go with KL who is also not a good choice but they have limited options now because the new guys have failed to perform for the India A.

100%. He stat padded his record on flatter pitches earlier when all bowlers averaged 30 plus in the series down under.

When pitched got tougher he failed. He even failed in India vs australia. Hot owned every time except the last series where he got lucky cause pitches were flatter again in test 4.

He was great at his peak but pealnonly last 3 4 years. Then pretty mediocre outside those years.

Bro in his peak yes he was great. No one ia denying that. 2016 to 2019 he was a beast. Top 2 in the world. Period outside those years he was relatively mediocre.

Gill's 28 was top score among our top 6.sarfaraz coped a good blow earlier in the nets during practice .

Spicy pitch though. But yes virat rohit kl should quit test cricket. They are not good enough. We don't need them. We have way way better talent in reserve. They are just basically blocking future players cause of their selfishness. They are rich. They should get lost.

You hope Aussies get out to them. Looking at how they played against Pakistan bowling seems like this is an aging unit as well. But Cummins the batter will decide the course lol Also Travis head is their HEAD.

Issue is their team is contributing more than us. We have pedestrians kl,rohit,kohli.We are not sure about the returns of gill,Jaiswal and other youngsters. Only youngsters and bowling can save us. You can't expect the same people to save us entire series.we have the perennial issue of rohits captaincy with out plan b when things go down south.

In ci , they have written there was injury scare for him few days ago as per few reports but he was in no discomfort while practice.

Kohli presence is enough for Australia or Young Indian player's.if India can compete with Australia than we are badly need inform virat kohli.

Batting is huge huge issue for us if anyhow we can score 325+ in first innings than series is on! But can we that's the big question marks

After seeing Kohli in india in last few games, I really have no hopes from him.
 
Seems Gill is Injured in the slips and may be doubtful for first test as per ci.kl got injured yesterday and not on field today.seems we dont have enough batsmen

Bro, you need to ask your elders and others about Saeed Anwar. Babar isn't even 30 percent of Anwar. I usually do the same when I need to know about players from the 60's and the 70's, whom I didn't watch play. I ask my elders and those who saw those players play. No way you can get a complete idea from scorecards.

Babar isn't even 50% of Inzamam either.​

I have seen saeed Anwar and Inzi bat. Not live but I've seen their full matches.

Saeed Anwar is a classy batter and what made him deadly is his wrist work against spinners hence he was so good in asia. And his front foot lofts against pacers.

It also explains why he's poor overseas Because his biggest weakness was backfoot strokes against pacers and aussies exploited this by bowling chest high against him.

In asia on spinning tracks where every Tom dick and Harry would struggle he was a nightmare because his wrist work isn't something you can teach. Proper God gifted talent.

Inzimam was okay againat spinners but a beast against pacers. His timing was key, His footwork was nothing special but his power is what made the difference.

Babar has a non existent backfoot against spin, can't play late cuts even though his own buddy in tests saud can, Can't sweep, and honestly because his backfoot is so poor, he frequently gets stumped out as his foot is left dangling in the air.

And against pacers he's good timing wise, Just lacks power tbh.

A very very overrated batsmen. Forget inzi and saeed. He isn't even 20% of Yousaf lol, And yousaf is good in odi but nothing special.

I think this is true only for LOIS and not Tests, Saeed averages 43.xx in SENA + Windies, with 4 100s, which is better than even Younis Khan who averages 39 in those countries. This is despite Anwar being an opener and facing more challenging bowling in the 90s. Anwar also averages 47 in Australia with one hundred in 3 matches.

I will have Anwar in my Asian all time XI for SENA countries as he easily trumps Sehwag there. (FOR TESTS)

I think your opinion of Anwar being bad away from home is a bit misplaced.

saeed clearly enjoyed playing spinners more then paced and played pace on the front foot more. In fact he loved it when bowlers bowled into his legs and into his body rather them away from it

Inzi Conversely played short ball well and pace too. Bit suspect vs spin

Also another one was zaheer abbas. Terrible vs pace and bounce. But great vs spin and swing.

Complete guy would be only one dude. Javed miandad.

I haven’t seen Anwar getting bounced out consistently. Not even in Australia. How did you conclude that? If being tall was a prerequisite to being a great, we won’t have players like Tendulkar, Gavaskar, Hanif, Lara, etc.
Anwar had two real issues.
1)fitness
2)Hunger or determination.

Never said being tall was a prerequisite. His batting style made it harder for him to adjust to the quicks.

He generally had issues vs pace and bounce. He played spin really well.
 
But India is very weak at the moment with so Many injury and out of form player .

This can Turning out to be a one sided series after All The Hypes .

Ponting stands strong on prediction for Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The Australia legend firmly believes his former side can win back the famous trophy for the first time since 2017.

Australia great Ricky Ponting has responded to Ravi Shastri’s prediction for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and provided further clarity on why he expects his former side to prove too strong during the upcoming Test series.

In a previous interaction with host Sanjana Ganesan on The ICC Review, Ponting had provided his prediction of a 3-1 series win for Australia in the eagerly-awaited five-match series and the Aussie great said he won't be swayed by the thoughts of former India coach Shastri.

Shastri was recently asked for a scoreline prediction in the latest instalment of The ICC Review and he believed the result would be 3-1 to either side, but believed India could get ahead if they made a fast start.

Gavaskar recall won't sway decision

When Ganesan tried to get Ponting’s take on Shastri’s call, the 49-year-old recalled a lighter moment involving Sunil Gavaskar from the 2020/21 edition of the Trophy, before sticking to his guns.

Ponting recalled how his 2-1 prediction in favour of Australia backfired after he discussed it with Gavaskar in the aftermath of India’s routing in the first Test in Adelaide in 2020, in which India were bowled out for 36, their lowest-ever Test total.

“I think I might have said 2-1 at the start,” Ponting told The ICC Review.

“And then Sunny looked at me and said, ‘It will be 2-1, but it will be 2-1 (in favour of) India.’ And I thought there was no way in the world that they could bounce back after losing the way they did in Adelaide. But they did.”

Back then, India had followed up a woeful performance in Adelaide with a memorable fightback in the absence of several first-choice players, and secured wins in Melbourne and Brisbane along with a gritty draw in Sydney, to take the series 2-1.

This ensured that India won back-to-back series Down Under and continued their undefeated run in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2017.

But Ponting was hopeful that Shastri’s call wouldn’t get the better of him this time around.

“Sunny got the better of me there. So I hope Ravi doesn't get the better of me this time. So I'm going to stick with the 3-1 Australia," he added.

Ponting reasons his call

Ponting, the highest-ever run-getter for Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, believes the tourists are well-settled going into the series despite their recent adverse home result against New Zealand, being fully aware of their line-up ahead of the Perth Test.

“India will be pretty certain of what team they're going to play (in Perth). They've known for a while that Rohit probably wasn't going to be here,” Ponting said, noting media reports related to Rohit Sharma’s absence.

“They've probably known for a while that Bumrah was going to be captain.

“So they've probably known what holes they've needed to fill. So they'll be reasonably settled.”

According to Ponting, the only source of disruption in India’s campaign would be when Rohit returns for the subsequent Tests. Irrespective, he believed Australia had the goods to take on and get the better of India, with their batting or bowling.

“But I just think there's potential for more disruption through their campaign with Sharma coming back and whatever else. So I'll stick with it," he said.

“(Marnus) Labuschagne and (Steve) Smith need to make runs for Australia. And their bowling attack obviously is as good as anyone's in the world. So I'll stick with my 3-1 Australia prediction.”

Test match preparation a mental battle

In the lead-up to the first Test in Perth on 22 November, while India players contested an intra-squad match simulation and net sessions, Australia allowed senior players like Pat Cummins and Steve Smith to feature in limited overs action against Pakistan before granting them rest after the second ODI.

Ponting believed that match preparation was a tricky question, where the mental side of the game needed to be looked into.

“Preparation is always a hard one to get right. Because I've seen guys like Travis Head in the past where they've almost had no preparation at all, going into a game and then turn up and play one of the all-time great innings,” Ponting added.

“You see other guys go in with great form going into a test match and don't make any runs.”

Having given Head’s example, Ponting believed that an acquired skillset always stayed and the player could make the best use of it with clarity of thought.

“So I think it's not so much the skills side of it, I don't think, going into games or series like this. It's making sure that you're nice and fresh mentally and physically," he added.

“Because with this game, your skills don't ever leave you. They don't go too far away. But as long as you're thinking clearly and thinking the right things, then you can make your body do pretty much whatever you want it to do.”

When we Played Last test series in australia , during first test at Adelaide, india were taken 50+ runs lead after 1st innings and india was favourite before day 3 started . After that rest is history. :ssmith
