England's second innings at Lord’s ended with a total of 192, setting India a target of 193 to win the third Test and clinch the series. After a steady start, England crumbled in the final session as Washington Sundar ran through the lower order, claiming a brilliant 4/22 in 12.1 overs. Despite Joe Root’s 40 and support from Stokes (33), the hosts failed to build a commanding lead. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets apiece, keeping the pressure on throughout.

With the pitch wearing and India’s batting lineup looking strong, the equation is simple: 193 runs or 10 wickets. The real question now: can England defend 193 and keep the series alive?

India should win. No matter the conditions 190 is usually not enough for a good batting line up to chase down....and from what I have heard and seen ( only towards the end) the pitch is challenging but not overly difficult.

Seeing Washington bowl seemed like Bashir might come into play.
My hope is on Jaiswal Raul Pant to chase this.

They should chase it down as England is eagerly gifting away the game. :inti
They aren’t good enough in this format, since WTC inception they have not been close to reaching the finals.

While the game is still remaining they are pretty bad in their own home, its not about them gifting they just don’t seem capable of playing partimers in their home.

Win or lose
Karun needs to go next game and siraj needs rest

Being Arshdeep

Bumrah will rest too I think.

So will be Arshdeep akashdeep khambhoj maybe

It's not about being good enough. It is more about getting rid of this idiocy named Bazball. Apply yourself and play a test match like a test match.

In this series what do you think would have happened differently if they had applied themselves.

They were out bowled by India and would have been out bowled whether they did Bazball or Tuk Tuk or any other style.

Although to add the decision to bowl first I'm first two matches can be blamed on Bazball for sure

Key vs archer is to play him defensively for first 6 overs of his spell

Once he tires then use the pace and smash.

Woakes is good with the new ball and reversing ball

Carse is good with bounce but he has bowled too many overs. He would be tired

Both teams need changes for next test. Regardless who wins today.

They absolutely should. Would be a shame if they are unable to.

Golden opportunity here to win another test at Lord’s

No difference.

This team needs a big time overhaul. Bazball has to be the start of it. At least couple of new bats and new bowling lineup.

They would have to overhaul their batsmen apart from Root, Brook and Smith. Bazball is something that was created because England are no longer a test team but an ODI team.

KL Rahul is the key.... If he somehow manages to stay at the crease until the early session tomorrow... India will definitely chase down this target.

Plenty of batting for India but they need to hold their nerve. I feel Pant will win this for India. His aggression will knock them out

It's 50-50 now. :inti

KL - pant partnership is Only hope for india. One more wickets and it will be game over for India.

135 is alot runs in these conditions.

:kp

I think England are big favorites now. The wicket will further deteriorate. Cant see lower order lasting to long.
Yah, its been hard for lower order to last long in this pitch with uneven bounce. I will give a slight edge to Eng right now. Not by much though because quick 60 runs can change the game here. Getting Pant out quickly will help a long way to win it for Eng.

If they can put a 70 run partnership, then Jaddu, Nitish and Washi are good enough to score 50 between them. It will be a close game.

India lost early advantage, its very difficult task for rest batsmen..... why "Yashasvi" was "Ayashasvi" in key match? This is why Virat Kohli always great..... Karun Nair is hopeless, result of quota system

Karin Nair should be dropped. 6 chances are enough and he has no fifty.

Sai should come in. I would still persist with the 3 A/Rs India are opting to play for next test as they are filling the holes and keeping us competitive sometimes with both bat and bowl. Also, makes sense to develop your A/R for future- Sundar and Reddy.

Reddy needs to step up big time this test

His batting has been horrendous

Would have been 50-50 if England had 30-35 more runs or if they had a half-decent spinner. Right now, India is in control in spite of the wobble.

Still, England aren’t out of it but it would take a Herculean effort to salvage a win from here.

England have only themselves to blame; they had two opportunities to bat India out of this Test and failed to capitalize on both accounts.

The making of KL Rahul during his winter years.
Rahul is more important than Pant today. Even if Pant fails, Rahul at one end will make the other batsmen confident to play their shots. Pant, Reddy, Sundar are shotmakers. I'll also take whatever Jadeja can dish out, though I always have low expectations from him.

So again, this the making of Rahul in his winter years?

It looks a small score to chase down but on day 5 with no field restrictions its a long way to victory for India.

England have a great captain who will put Indian batters under serious pressure from ball 1. The pitch is slow and will be lower than Ravi Shastris voice by lunch. No batter is truly in, so a wicket can fall at anytime in a partnership.

India will try some aggressive shots but this could be their downfall. The idea for them should be to play normal test cricket, takes singles and twos to chase this down but they will want to win in style which could be their downfall.

England are favs for me. Archer and Stokes should open the bowling.

So far it's 50-50.
It's a small talent and over the last decade India often win these matches thanks to their lower order all rounders. They have three in this match.

For England, they will need to bowl well and play the waiting game. Don't over attack with the field placements. Stokes is bowling very well, quicker than any Indian bowler or at par with Bumrah and I guess he will bowl long spells in witch he will have wickets.

PS : one thing was sure for me, Gill was always going to fail. Such a mediocre batsman.

Only at home not outside home ( Apart from GABBA test ) - this is Big difference and conditions from here Only become bad to worse . :kp

Such a disappointing performance from Rahul and Pant today. They have to share the blame for this loss. Can’t get the job done despite being key batters in the team.

62.5% voters were too optimistic yesterday that India would 'easily' chased it down until India went from 4 down to 7 soon after day 5 began...

Jaiswal ducked out first over brother :inti

Yes and that cost us the game, if you want to chase in 4th innings you need a decent start from openers, you can’t be 4 wickets down for 50.

This team is young so we can give them benefit of inexperience, but if they don’t learn from these mistakes or improve their game and patience level, we won’t get results in SENA countries like always.

India has already won the game of banter. They have made themselves look foolish on the pitch.

Brilliant last 2 sessions. Less than 2 runs scored but still more entertaining than many T20s.

Great fight from Jaddu and Bumrah-Siraj. Some shame on the senior batters.

India can take some solace from this fight and also the fact that they put around 40 overs into Stokes and his pacers bodies.

Fantastic also from Brook and Root to break away from their celebrations to congratulate Siraj on a valiant effort. They were big enough to go up to the villain of the game and well done to them for that. Also let's not forget our Pakistani brother Bashir's guts to turn up to bowl despite his other hand having a broken finger.

Yes they will chase it down
I was waiting for the match to be over before I pinged @Nikhil_cric @pillionrider and @Bhaijaan

I have told you both multiple times, I am not the other jinx masters. Ik how to use the jinx far better then anyone else.

I am the most dangerous opponent you have ever been in the ring with.

I always backed by 5-0 prediction which sadly is now 4-1. But I ensured that I laid the seeds of your downfall.

This match was one big beautiful learn for Indian cricket team. We must take it with arms wide open. I didn’t expect the team to keep the legs wide open though.

I thought England would gift India the game because their body language was poor till 3rd innings.

A spark was lit when Jaiswal got out.

Happy to see England won. :inti

Trolls aside, Indian youngsters need to cool it with the aggression especially gill.

Understand that they are a young team and beating this england side in their home den is damn near impossible.

If I was gill id take the Edgbaston win as an achievement since its extremely impressive what india did.

These boys are acting Kohli despite not having the chrisma or flair that he had.

Kohli was terrifying but he was also a really good player and an ATG test captain. Not since Ricky Ponting and Viv Richards have seen such a ruthless captain.

Secondly ignoring that shoulder bump to Konstas Kohli's aggression was never unreasonable per say. He would do it stamp India's authority as a dominant side which he turned india into.

Gill sounds like an Indian aunty. I dont wish to hate on him as he is a great player but his voice and his looks are effeminate for a man hence this kohli personality doesnt suit him when the current indian team is a joke in Sena atm and no one is scared of that squeaky voice and beardless tiny man.

England players showed alot of grace after the win. Could have rubbed it in Siraj and India's face but decided to be graceful. Something Gill and some of his players can learn from.
