Can Ireland become a more successful Test team than Zimbabwe and Bangladesh?

While there's nothing I'm taking away from the achievements that Bangladesh have had in the last 5 years or so, I personally think that Ireland will most likely become the better Test team in a few years down the line.

Most Irish cricketers play English club cricket, county cricket, alongside a lot of English legends and have a very good structure and system that slowly progresses school talents into the team. While Bangladesh is one of the better LOI teams of the world, I certainly think that they aren't going to be as successful because their cricket is more suited to LOI's.

Zimbabwe on the other hand have been reduced to being minnows of the minnows.

You thoughts?

Even at the moment they are on par with Bangladesh. In time I think they will overtake them as their players appear physically stronger. Zimbabwe are crap most of the time, they hardly play any meaningful teams anymore.

No,not in the near future.Ireland will probably overtake Zimababwe but Bangladesh will remain superior. The golden generation of Irish cricketers is nearing it's end.I hope the newer lot are upto the mark.

Absolutely. Especially with the experience of players like Rankin, Stirling and Joyce is going to do them a world of good. Personally, I think the three of these, especially Joyce could have been borderline ATG's had they played in their peak.

No.

People on this forum vastly underestimate Bangladesh on a constant basis and its a shame.

In Tests BD have shown themselves now, to be capable of beating any team on home turf. Proud as I am of Ireland, the day when we even come close to picking up wins at home vs top teams is a long way off, as it was for every team who entered the test scene.

Zimbabwe Id say yes because I only see Zimbabwe going further and further down sadly, we'll see.

I just cannot wait to see Ed freaking Joyce, a man with 18,000 first class runs and nearly 5ß centuries, Our greatest cricketer, a man who quit his county deal early to play cricket in our fledgling first class system and support his country in every way, get the test debut he should have had a decade back and hopefully earn a century. Heaven knows he has earned it

Yeah, they're gonna be as good as New Zealand in a decades time. Also the Anglo-Irish rivalry would be on par with the India/Pakistan rivalry and the Ashes.

How do you feel about Eoin Morgan? Could he possibly return to Ireland? He'd bring a lot of value.

Perhaps. But yet to be seen so let's wait and find out. I predict Ireland dominating the lower ranked teams and gradually transitioning into the top ranked teams.

As for Joyce, I couldn't agree more. He's earned this and is still as good as anybody else in the world. Hope he continues to play for another couple of years.

Hi man BD are only good enough to beat non Asian teams, who are crap vs spin but versus Asian teams they can only draw matches on absolute phatta on turning pitch Asian teams will destroy them.
