A country producing players doesn't make the fans automatically knowledgeable. The biggest example is you using Amir's average when everyone knows that average is only because of one single 2010 English season and he averages over 35 in every other series he has played and apart from England he averages 40 everywhere

Just like Kumble averaged in high 30s and 40s everywhere except India where he averaged 24?

Indian fast bowlers should hardly be a benchmark. I think when it comes to Amir, people have put him on a pedestal where he never belonged. Everyone chose to ignore 80% of the disappointments and remembered one amazing series where he got the friendliest of conditions. People who dared to mention his limitations were labelled "haters" instantly, but now they are hitting back. At times these people undermine Amir a little, but it is nothing compared to the hype Amir received.

As for his age then, I don't think I would call it a disadvantage. If you look at recent examples for Asian bowlers (example: Irfan Pathan, Ishant, Junaid Khan), age 18-20 seems to be when they are at their best. I still think its too early to judge Amir, but it is quite clear that in his 17 matches so far, Amir has been way below average in conditions lacking prodigious swing. I would call this a valid criticism.

Thank you for your opinion but I would rather go by the opinion of the likes of Akram and Holding who think that he is a very good bowler.

Of course, he is nowhere near someone like Steyn or Anderson or even Kapil because he still has to take at least 300 wickets to be able to compared to them. However, he is a very good prospect. You can't average 22 in ODIs and T20s and 21 in FC if you are mediocre.

No denying that Amir has been quite poor. Very disappointing in a series where every English fast bowler has averaged in the low 20s and the English middle order is the weakest in a decade.
