The youngster showed a lot of confidence and ability at the recent Pakistan Super League and has today been named in the white-ball squads against Australia.

Do you think he is the right man to be the long term understudy to Rizwan and then the man to eventually take over from him in the white-ball formats?

Being around the squad will certainly help and he can learn alot from rizwan. I think pakistan need to arrange more A team (Shaheen) tours so that players like this can get more exposure to help them progress. Maybe even the odd game here or there for pakistan in a dead rubber would be a good learning curve for him.

He most certainly can. Solid keeper, solid fielder and great batting potential. Great to sew the management shpwing ruthlessness with the exclusion of Sarfraz.

Now we need to be ruthless enough to discard Azhar and Fawad in the next series so we can blood in Saud Shakeel et al.

Yes definitely in t20s he is a good keeper an excellent fielder and has got potential in his batting.

Rohail Nazir was earmarked as the next big thing when it came to wicket-keeper/batters in Pakistan, but he seems to have fallen down the pecking order.

He needs to focus on tests.

^^^I am not sure Rohail Nazir even has the test game, let alone ODI/T20.

Mohammad Haris along with Hureira have gotten me excited about our future stars, these two are the brightest of all the youngsters coming through. Both need to be around the senior team so that they can play the odd game here and there when the opportunity arrives. I think, even though it is quite early, but at least Hureira can play in the ODI team right now, it is not as if he have ODI monster batsmen in our team besides Babar and Rizwan!

He has a 100 against New Zealand A for Pakistan Shaheens he definitely has gone down the radar recently.

He looks like a talent worth investing in. And for him there's no better person to learn from than Rizwan.

About time Sarfraz was put to pasture as well. He brings absolutely nothing to the table.

Rohail Nazir has not been good enough imo. He has done fairly okay in domestic when alot of other young have doing very well. Even in PSL he has been with multiple sides but failed to make any sort of lasting impression. Haris though played some high-quality knocks in big matches for Zalmi this season, and has been doing good in List A also. Its a no-brainer when it comes to him and Rohail.

I think Rizwan should give up Keeping in 20 20 , and play some OD purely as a Batsman. Pakistan need to start grooming couple of new Keepers , start with 20 20 and OD games , and later let Rizwan play as pure batsman across formats.

I remember that but every time I have watched him in a live game (a couple of times), he seemed more like a hack and a very slow one at that as well. Haris is much better than him for sure!

Rizwan isn't even 30 yet. We don't need to groom anyone for several years. If Haris wants to develop then that is what domestics is for.

The more he plays the better he gets. Some
exposure to the National team is good for him but beyond that he needs to play fc, odi, T20s.

Definitely better than Rohail in t20s/odis but in tests I think Rohail can be better but he needs to score runs in domestic as I think Haseebullah will be in the mix soonish.

Surely he can be. If he works hard, going forward he possibly has enough potential to make the national team purely as a batsman one day alongside Rizwan and both are exceptional fielders as well. If Haris playing alongside Rizwan becomes a reality Pak can even manage the keeping workload when required.

At the same time we are lucky to have another youngster coming in Haseebullah who has bursted onto the scene.

Pak historically struggled to have keepers who were that good with the bat to ever play as batsman alone. One can now say that hopefully Pak’s wicket keeping heritage is in safe hands considering a must modern day need of your keepers to be good with the bat too.
