South Africa require 148 runs to secure victory in the first Test against Pakistan.

Marco Jansen’s devastating spell of 6/52 helped the hosts bowl out the visitors for 237 in their second innings, with Saud Shakeel’s 84 and Babar Azam’s 50 being the only positives on a rain-impacted Day 3.

I don’t see Pakistan winning this but at 27/3 it looks exciting. Abbas looking threatening though.

Absolutely. Early wickets in morning will bring back the nightmare chocke attacks on the south africans.

WHy not. Looking at the surface every now and then there is significant seam movement on the offer. Add bounce too. It is going to be a tough chase for SA now that they have lost 3.

Even 175-180 would have put us in the game SA is just a 50 run partnership away from an easy win

Sadly no..this will be another case of Pakistan giving hope, and not being able to deliver. Seen many of these in the past. I see South Africa winning this by 5 to 6 wickets. Of course I would love to be proven wrong. Even with batting they were cruising and then we collapsed, and I'm sure 90% of regular Pak cricket followers could see that coming.

Why you guys dont appreciate its first time alot of pak guys playing in sa it takes long time to adjust to conditions you put this same sa team in pak vs noman and sajid they will smash them here atleast pak are not getting smashed actually well in the game.

Markram is the key. He is the only one who seems to have got a hang of batting on this surface. Need to get him out ASAP and we might have a chance then.

The first hour will be crucial. If Pak are able to strike 2 or 3 (incl. Markram) blows then who knows... RSA tend to crumble under pressure (much like Pak and English batsmen)

Not playing a specialist spinner like Noman (I would have played him in place of Abbas) was a folly. He would have offered more variety to the attack. RSA and English players habitually struggle against quality spin

Abbas has turned in to our main threat this innings it’s jagging just enough and seems Abbas has found his usual radar if Abbas bowls accurately he has a big haul in him this innings

Depends on if they continue getting the seam movement they've been getting.

25 of the first 47(3rd wickets) balls seamed over 1 degree .

Saffers may have to take chances and hit that ball about on a rolled pitch and out pressure back .

No. If only Pakistan had a lead of 200, then yes, but with just 148 to chase, all SA need to do is have one partnership of 35-40 runs and they would chase this total easily. Of course, if they pick up a couple of wickets early tomorrow, then they have a great chance, but I suspect that SA will win by 5-6 wickets. This seems like another case of Pakistan giving their fans false hope.

Yes it's possible, all eyes on naseem shah and salman ali agha tomorrow. Reverse swing from Naseem and Turns due to cracks from salman

naseem has a propensity to go searching for wickets in tests, that would be problematic with so few runs to play with. needs to just stick ot line and length and hope natural variation does the rest. the pitch is tailor made for abbas so i dont think south Africa will take him on.

would be interesting to see if shan gambles on given salman and saim a few overs against batsmen who generally dont play spin well.

Spot on
Bowlers have to be patient and be consistent with their line and lengths...
Let the wicket do the rest...
Make them fight hard for each run

3 wickets needed in the first hour.
That will be 80-6
Then it's anybody's game
