Shan is useless captain. it was obvious they needed to protect the boundaries. When 20 runs left he should have taken a chance with Salman Agha. im sure If dhoni was captain here he definitely would just to break Batters rythm. absolute no thinking on feet and let the game finish in 2 overs with flurry of off side boundaries
 
Pakistan is lack winning mentality in Australia and South Africa .

They were hot favourite when South Africa lost 8th wicket
 
For the life of me, cannot understand where Khurram was. He has been our best bowler most of the time and not given a ball …..
 
Abbas's nose is so big that it's probably bigger than his willy.

Bowlers to be fair gave it everything but the margin for error with only 148 to defend was too small.

PAK messed up in the 2nd inns when the pitch eased up somewhat. Some of the dismissals were absolutely criminal.
 
This was a lot like India in South Africa Test matches the last few years. You push them to the edge, its a great game, but the South Africans manage to edge out the win.

I'll speak for myself. I enjoyed Pakistan losing and posters like you crying. Don't care what happens with our boys, who if they deserve it, will make yet another final. Unlike the PCT that often relies on others and weird permutations lol

I thought we played well just some wayward bowling at exactly the wrong time but these things happen. The attack is too samey with so many right armers
 
Credit Jansen. He remained disciplined against Abbas and chose the right balls to defend and attack outside offstump.

Once you have a team at 99/8 with them needing 49 to win, then you are not any runs short. This was a battle between two chokers and Pakistan came out on top this time.

Great effort from Abbas let down by very poor captaincy by Shan in this Test match. Criminal to not have given Saim the ball against the tailenders.

Anyways, this is the closest Pakistan has come back to winning a Test in the southern hemisphere for more than a decade.

Watching highlights eventually lack of pace hurt Pakistan. Good line and length bowling alright. But if a batsman decides to counter attack they can easily do this to Pakistan bowling

bro Shan has proven to be not a good captain in this game. He let SA get away with tail in first and same story in second as well. Who took last wicket in first SA innings? it was Saim.. an out of box thinking was needed when 15-20 runs were left. He just stood there waiting for Rabada to finish out of all people. i can tell you no team would let saffers win from 99/8 chasing 148 to qualify for WTC final. not even WI

Don't care for wtc rubbish format finals. Should be a proper series..series wins away from home means more.

Pakistan lost this match due to poor batting.They were short of 50 runs.Pakistan’s current bowling attack is nothing special but it’s ok,does the job.The batting has always let down.
 
What a shame for Pakistan. Winning this close test match in South Africa would have continued the positives of winning the the test series against England and the ODI series in Australia & South Africa. Can only see a loss in the next match as tough to recover from this match.

We should have won the game from SA being 8 down with less than 100 on the board. Both innings we let the tail wag which lost us the match along with average batting.

Rubbish decision making and anger aside we really are the biggest chokers in world cricket atm. Our batters were missing full tosses when the game was tough and their number 10 batter just smashed a 50 run partnership to win the game.

have to disagree. sometimes its more than luck. like i told you Saffers are not a good side under pressure and double that when they WTC qualification on line. this should have been an easy job after 99/8. SA changed their game plan immediately and stopped tuk tukking, went for their shots. Did Shan change the game plan? introduced variation at clutch moment? these things matter
 
Even IF Pakistan manage to win the 2nd test Shan Masood has to be dropped as he is averaging under 30 after playing nearly 40 test matches!.

It is an absolute disgrace that he is the captain he offers nothing with the bat and is clueless as a captain if it was another team he would never play again.
 
Shan Masood post match interview has lots of "couldas" "wouldas". Why didn't Pakistan include a genuine spinner in this line up?
 
With all the jokes about choking SA rarely chokes in Tests. If anything they have pulled off some miraculous chases as well like 414 in Australia.

It's a very helpful pitch but after 30 off overs , it's tough to take wickets of even tailenders.

Especially when all your bowlers are short trundlers.
