This year has been full of surprises in Test cricket.

To start with, the West Indies stunned Australia by managing to draw the series on their home turf.

Then came New Zealand’s shocking 3-0 whitewash of India, ending their remarkable 12-year unbeaten streak at home spanning 17 series. While it’s true India were missing a few key players, a clean sweep on Indian soil is a significant blow, considering their fortress-like dominance at home.

Sri Lanka, too, managed a surprising victory in England. Despite their struggles and low confidence heading into the series, they managed to pull off a win against a powerful England side. Although they didn’t clinch the series, their spirited comeback under Jayasuriya in the final Test was unexpected, especially given the state of Sri Lankan cricket at the time.

England’s current demolition of New Zealand has also raised eyebrows. Coming off their 3-0 triumph over India, New Zealand were brimming with confidence. Yet England, a team that had recently been humbled 4-1 by India and faced other setbacks, turned the tables in dramatic fashion. Their resurgence has been remarkable, even if they’re still stuck mid-table on the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.

Bangladesh, often overlooked, pulled off two massive upsets. First, they obliterated Pakistan with their revitalized pace attack, a result no one saw coming. Secondly, they managed a draw against a strong New Zealand side featuring Kyle Jamieson—a feat that deserves immense credit. Teams far more accomplished than Bangladesh have failed to achieve such a result in New Zealand.

South Africa, on the other hand, missed an opportunity to maintain their strong record in New Zealand, fielding a weakened side and falling short.

All these results point to an exciting and unpredictable era in Test cricket.

With this context, Pakistan has the potential to pull off an upset against South Africa.

As for the India-Australia series, it’s possible India might win 2-1 or 3-1, although I, personally, wouldn’t support them as long as players like Kohli, Rohit, and KL Rahul remain part of the team.

Even the most optimistic Pak fans wont believe this, when their side cant even T20 matches forget about Tests in SA.

Nope. I don't think so. There is very little to NO chance of this happening.

You never know. Even a draw is like a win.
I don't think there will be a draw as well. If they can draw then I will be happy.

South Africa is in good form and they need these 2 wins to go to the final of WTC so they will come hard.

Yea maybe. But under pressure they choke often.

The only thing pakistan will be doing is ensuring India doesn't qualify for wtc by playing rubbish cricket. That's all.

Pakistan can get a good game and make it 1-1. I don't think we will see a draw.

SA batting is not earth shaterring as well. Bowling is far better in SA conditions, but I am afraid of those crazy pitches which nullifies superior bowling. If Pakistan gets them and can make it count then 1-1 is very much possible.

2-0 is almost impossible but yeah if they somehow absorb pressure so they can draw this Test series.

This is the weakest SA team since Test readmission. They don't have a single world class batsmen in their side. In saying that neither do Pakistan.

I just can't see Pakistan putting up enough runs in these conditions to win a series, even though its a great chance to win a series here.

Who were the world class batsman since turn of century

Time will tell obviously but I think whitewash is far away from reality

I cannot lie will definitely want sa to smash pak so India doesn't have any chance to qualify for wtc final
India won't anyway cause india would have to win atleast 2-1 or 3-1 which looks unlikely given india has 2 old geriatric washed up has beens in the team

I predict 1-1 for SA vs pak.

Will be interesting.

South Africa are quite strong at home. Only Australia can generally go there and win a Test series there.

But, never say never.

2 test series don't count, should be minimum 3 for fans to have boasting rights if they win.

SA will not bat well in this series but with their bowlers they will do batting collapse to Pak.With stable batting and good bowling Pak can win otherwise they at best can do 1-1 but that is unlikely

This team has no desire to excel at
Test cricket the way batsman were throwing their wickets showed how serious they are taking this series

Watching midget Naseem sending net throwdowns on centurion first day pitch was embarrassing to watch

Should ban players from playing psl if they don't perform or play in tests.

That's the only way forward.
