What's new

Can Yadav and Aaron go on to become India's version of Wasim and Waqar?

I think your wish is granted. Yadav now averages 30.54 in Tests mostly thanks to his terrific bowling in India. If he can keep up that and improve his overseas bowling a bit, he might get his average under 30.

That was about Aaron where I said he won’t average sub 33.

Yadav I said would average 28-33 so actually he is right there now. Good to see he resurrected his career and got in the range I had predicted for him in 2011.

Aaron was always going to be mediocre nothing bowler and there were no doubts in my mind about this at all. Come to think of it an Indian friend owes me 5 bucks for a bet on this.

Yadav I am disappointed. I felt he had the base tools to make a good career for himself injury permitting. I had predicted him to average 28-33 in both formats of the game but it looks unlikely at this that he will achieve this.

Good call. Unfortunately, we have hype machines on both sides of the border. Yadav and Aaron as Wasim and Waqar, what a joke.

Varun Aaron has little chance to get back to Indian test team considering how tight the competition is now. He had a good year with Liecestershire in 2018 but still nothing noteworthy in Ranji to warrant his place back to Indian team.
The only good thing is that he still wants to bowl fast and have the hunger to get back into Indian team at an age of 31. He even spent his own money to go to England to train with Steffan Jones who is his fast bowling coach at Rajasthan Royals. May be he just doesn’t have the talent to be good at international level.

I’ve said exactly that since 2011. He isn’t good enough to have an international career of any note and was never gonna be a success
