As per the local media reports, Younis, who retired from the Test cricket last year after becoming the country’s most successful Test cricketer with 10,099 runs, will participate in the course. It is being organized by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and will be conducted by Australians.

Former Test-spinner Akram Raza is also participating in this course. Back in 2011, the PCB removed Raza, who was then an umpire in Pakistan’s domestic matches, from umpiring after he was arrested on charges of betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

However, Raza was reinstated to the PCB umpiring panel in 2012 after he was cleared of the charges of illegal betting.

Younis has earlier served as the mentor and batting coach of Pakistan Super League franchise Peshawar Zalmi, which ended this year’s tournament as the runners up.

Younis can be a great coach for Pakistan U-19... he has an issue with temperament, which is mostly with players who have played cricket for a while, or those that don't get along with him, PCB bosses etc. Still there is noooo better coach for a youngster than Younis. A model and thorough professional, with loads of experience and tips on batting for newbies to learn from. Its like saying Rahul Dravid isn't a great coach for Indian under-19 team.

He should work with junior boys; U19s and A teams. That would be great for Pak Cricket

He has eye for the talent the way he handled amir when he was newbie was fantastic and also he hand pick sameen gul for peshaware zalmi this year which was turn out to be decent pick so he can be good coach .he needs experience as a coach and he should start from u19 which will be good for him and our u19

Has a brilliant eye for talent, work ethic and knowledge. Seems to get the best out of the players. If the likes of Shehzad and Umar Akmal are able to listen someone, then he must have some great communication skills and aura.

Plus the good thing is, he is doing what he can by attending these courses and stuff. I have seen some former players who have considered themselves too good to get some formal coaching qualifications because they have played cricket at international level. (Mohsin Khan being the prime example)

There was an incident in domestic cricket, when Shehzad was playing cricket under Younis, Shehzad got out and kept blaming the umpire for his dismissal for next 4-5 days. Younis had heard enough of it, brought the video footage of his dismissal, and showed him where he had erred, and said its not umpire, me or some supernatural power that got you out, it was you. After that incident, Shehzad never brought out the topic again. :P

I can't imagine the YK and PCB relationship being a smooth one. If he does get involved it will no doubt be a roller coaster ride.

He should first work with someone like Rashid Latif in his academy and develop the ability and know how to coach at the highest level.
