I am no political expert, especially in the complicated subject of Pakistani politics but I personally feel IK has no chance of returning to power in a year’s time.
This may be the end of his storybook life as a sportsman turned president of a nation. PTI might also be on the brink. From what I understand, a lot of its key players have abandoned the ship. They wouldn’t do so knowing they had the next elections in the bag.
A year isn’t a long time, but I also feel India/Modi/BJP can also play a key role in ensuring Khan is not brought back to power by supporting Shahbaz Sharif and changing the economic situation of Pakistan. Any positive changes now (globally and with India) will be nail in the coffin of Khan’s political career.
Realistically, there is no successor to PTI unless another popular cricketer who is loved by the nation joins the party as a potential future leader.
