I am just curious to know after how much time you change your mobile set.
And for what reason?
I mostly change my mobile set after 2 years and most of the time reason is I need some feature etc which is not in current set.
For example I moved from Q mobile to Samsung, as I shall be able to upgrade software easily and alot of other stuff will be easily available for it.
Now I am going to change Samsung J5 to some other set which has internal memory 32GB or more. As current set has 8GB internal memory, (4GB available, 3 GB took by samsung apps, so only 1 GB available to install other apps).
So I have to uninstall some app to install a new App.

I want to keep my phone as long I can as long as battery doesnt drain too quickly. I have used on average iphones for 3.5 years. I am normal user so not bothered with much apps or games apart. Only apps I use is Whats/Imo and Youtube.

I change because: phone battery drains fast and it everything becomes too slow.

When I buy a phone... I have the intention of keeping it for 2 years, but it has happened twice to me now that I was sitting with buddies and the phone just slipped out of my pant pocket and smashed on the floor even though I had a cover+screen protector on it. Both times the phone was 1 - 1.5 years old.

My present phone, One Plus 3, is coming close to 2 years though and it was scratchless until a month ago, but in a freak accident I flung it across the parking lot and it has a bit of a crack on the screen near the bottom - nothing serious. The accident was crazy, I was getting out of the back seat of the car but the person who got off before me didn't know I was getting off from their side so they were about to close the door with my leg sticking out, I tried to stop the door with my hand but unfortunately had my phone in the same hand and ended up literally throwing my phone across the parking lot. All the occupants of the car were laughing as if it was something hilarious.

2 years on average I guess. I had bigger spans with Nokia 7650 and N95 lasting around 4-5 years.

My last phone was also J5 (2015), and lack of internal space was so annoying as whatsapp usually stores its stuff there and unlike Huawei we cant switch base storage to memory card.

So I saved a little money (20K+10K worth J5) and went to mobile market for checking out options of swapping with other used phones.

Luckily, Galaxy S8 was just released back then and everyone was draining out their old S7s/S7 edges. I got one for myself in 29k (20K + J5) in great new-like condition.

Its been 6 months since then, its working great. Clicks amazing pics.

On the other hand, I had the option of getting a new Honor 6x which a family member of mine eventually did. Comparing it with S7, I dont regret not buying 6x. Also, 6x's price fell down like a rocket.

Had Samsung S5 for 1.5 years. It needed to be replaced since battery life was poor and was very slow

Have had Iphone 6S for 2+ years now and still working fine

how old was the S7 and was it S7 edge?

how much would new S7 and S7 edge cost if you have an idea

I drop my phone A LOT!

If it wasnt for tempered glasses my Iphone screen would have been smashed a good 3-4 times

Blackberry KeyOne user here. I change me phone when a new phone is released and I buy my phone outright.

Use it till it gets stolen or broken.

Once the touch has been broken, time to get a new one.

However, I have really loved my s6 alot that it's the first time I'm getting it fixed.(touch broke, cost me 14 k to get it fixed)

S6 offers 3gb ram on octacore. I thought getting it fixed was the cheaper option, considering phones that offer these features cost alot.

Other phones that I have used have too much lag. S6 hasn't shown this as of yet.

Buying secondhand Samsung phones in the pakistani mkt is a very tricky business.

Most of the phones are refurbished. They work great during check warranty which is for 2 days. Right after 2 days they create problems.

I was lucky to get a s6 which worked fine.

My friend got one of those Samsung grand prime, found out it was a refurbished set

2 years cycle mostly.
Also Depends on hardware or software feature that demands upgrade.
I started with Nokia e63 used it till more than 2 years then moved to Samsung s3mini for couple of months till I got amazing deal on HTC one m8 which is my current phone.

I dont change my phone till it stops working. Its generally 2 years.

I made the biggest mistake by buying a micromax canvas last time and it gave me such a headache. Its battery died in few months and when i replaced the battery, the phone died within a month. I sent it for repairing because it was still under warranty and it took a couple of months to get it back. It was working okay but finally i decided to buy a samsung and i cant be thankful enough for the decision because within a week of me buying a samsung, the micromax phone breathed its last. Been using this baby since a good 8 months now and it works smooth as silk. Lesson learnt, never compromise on brand unless you want to change the phone within 5-6 months.

6 months back, it was of 60k new.
And talking about the S7, Edge looks good, but practically all it takes is single fall to crack its screen. Also the edge part doesnt seem that comfy.

S7 was around 1.5 years old by the time I bought it. The piece I had was used for a month or two as it had no mark on it. Used S7 edge was around 35k at that time. New one was of 70k+.

There are tools and ways to spots the refurb ones. With s6/s7 its impossible to disassemble them without leaving a mark.
Also, look for one with box and accessories. Possibly with a warranty card even if its expired and of some other country. Usually the shops dealing in refurb and actual used phones are different.

M8 had awesome front mounted speakers.
