China 'deploys 150,000 troops to deal with possible North Korean refugees over fears Trump may strike Kim Jong-un following missile attack on Syria'

The Chinese army has deployed 150,000 troops to the North Korean border to prepare for pre-emptive attacks after the United States dropped airstrikes on Syria.

President Donald Trump's missile strike on Syria on Friday was widely interpreted as a warning to North Korea.

And now China, left shocked by the air strikes, has deployed medical and backup units from the People's Liberation Army forces to the Yalu River, Korea's Chosun.com reported.

The troops have been dispatched to handle North Korean refugees and 'unforeseen circumstances', such as the prospect of preemptive attacks on North Korea, the news agency said.

Meanwhile, the US Navy has moved the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group from Singapore to North Korea after the country conducted more missile testing.

China's top nuclear envoy arrived in Seoul Monday for talks on the North Korean threat, as the United States sent the naval strike group to the region and signalled it may act to shut down Pyongyang's weapons program.

Speculation of an imminent nuclear test is brewing as the North marks major anniversaries including the 105th birthday of its founding leader on Saturday - sometimes celebrated with a demonstration of military might.

Wu Dawei, China's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs, met with his South Korean counterpart on Monday to discuss the nuclear issue.

The talks come shortly after Trump hosted Chinese leader Xi Jinping for a summit at which he pressed Pyongyang's key ally to do more to curb the North's nuclear ambitions.

'(We) are prepared to chart our own course if this is something China is just unable to coordinate with us,' US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said after the summit.

He added however that Beijing had indicated a willingness to act on the issue.

'We need to allow them time to take actions,' Tillerson said, adding that Washington had no intention of attempting to remove the regime of Kim Jong-Un.

The meeting between Xi and Trump came on the heels of yet another missile test by the North, which fired a medium-range ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan on Wednesday.

The US Navy strike group Carl Vinson cancelled a planned trip to Australia this weekend, heading toward the Korean peninsula instead, in a move that will raise tensions in the region.

Half the population of iceland ,wonder if Trump just wanted to get an idea about how quick China is to send US navy back but again China does this often to India so erm yeah.
 
Trump cannot afford to wage war with North Korea. Noth Korea spends about 90% of their budget on their military and despite being practically isolated from the world, that is a lot of money and their army can go head to head with USA, if not do better.

North Korea's nuclear program is especially scary. It is no secret that they are indeed a nuclear state but many experts around the world think that their missile's are also very strong and can easily travel long distances.
 
Trump won't strike North Korea. If it was that simple it would have been done by Dubya Bush, the last neo con American President. One thing to launch a few cruise missiles at an already battered middle east demolition site, quite another to strike a nuclear armed country.
 
China is the only Buddy of North Korea.

In case of war, China will not risk its future for that fat kid sitting in NK. They will do some kind of refugee help or medical/food help.

Its about time someone showed NK their place. China really cannot bully USA like they do to Philippines/Vietnam/Thailand etc.
 
Trump will go in and decimate North Korea in my opinion. Will be your standard Uncle Sam military squash with token puppet regime change added in for extra flavour. Most of the literature suggests that the US is out of range of the PRK nuclear missiles, so as long as this research is accurate then it would be a no contest.
 
North Korea shouldn't be underestimated. Even though North Korea has outdated technology they are a lot more stronger than rag tag militaries of Middle East. Trump should stop threatening on twitter and let the grown ups deal with them. He is putting South Korea under danger with petty strongman behavior.

There is no way Trump is attacking North Korea.

It will create total chaos for countries next door like China, Japan and South Korea.

They can at best just hope to contain and isolate North Korea in the hope that the regime just implodes and collapses since they have a bigger lunatic than the last one. But that relies on China cutting off all ties, that's not happening because again they will become even more unpredictable.

Japan and South Korea are not. They will both be ruined.

Perhaps that is what trump wants, 2 competitors knocked out.

I think it is China, Russia and USA are taking us to WW3. North Korea and the situation in the Middle East is only adding fuel to the fire of hate and vengeance. I am wishing for the best whilst fearing the worst.
 
About time someone shows NK leadership their place. Even in 21st century it's scary to imagine there is a nation which is isolated from others and keeps manufacturing nukes while majority of people suffer from hunger.

Neocons don't care about NK as they aren't a threat to Israel. Had NK been a Shia state in Mid-East they would have been nuked to hell and back by Dubya/Obama.

Trump may actually take Kim out if it looks like he will go crazy and launch nukes at South Korea/Japan/USA. I don't think Kim is that suicidal so he'll behave.

you mean like the nice standard Iraqi invasion? your living in dream land if you think korea will be easy. they have prepared to fight a technologically superior force for enarly 50 years. They have set themselves up for assymetrical warfare on a scale unseen by anyone anywhere. if you think they will suddenly dissappear after some conventional warfare from the west then your living in the same land of denial that msot of my british friends inhabit..
 
Oh anotehr thing, the first sign of a strike and Seoul will go up in flames through a massive artillery bombardment from the North..The US would have to take out all of the artillery and missile sites within the first 48 hours. And then would have to deploy across the ceasefire line. the alst time they went into korea they lost and we nearly faced nuclear war.
 
as for a nuclear strike, well all they have to do is set off a nuke underwater and watch as tsunamis race towards japan and the US naval fleet!!
 
Trump is going nuts here. North Korea won't win against US , but it wont sink alone. It will Nuke both South Korea and Japan while going down, and Asia will be in Chaos for a long time.

We honestly have no idea of their military capability. A US invasion cannot protect South Korea and Take out NK's bases simultaneously .

North Korea would nuke South Korea and Japan if America actually invaded. Trump needs to stop the warmongering rhetoric.

And yet he is - rightly in my opinion - enjoying near-universal acclaim and applause for reversing his isolationism.

The "but North Korea has nukes" posts on this thread really mean that someone should have taken them out sooner.

I'm no fan of Trump, but I see the USA as a force for good, and I'm delighted by what he has done in Syria and Afghanistan recently, and I'd love to see him demonstrate to North Korea that red lines are policed, and that you cross them at your own risk.

(Incidentally, I'm about to fly out of Honolulu. And just after dark tonight I heard the incredibly noisy rumble of sixty year old eight-engine aircraft. I presume they're off to Guam! If I were Pyongyang I'd be seriously worried.)
 
Never mind the Middle East when this is even bigger. North Korea seems to be in mood for war. Just a matter of time before something massive happens between the North Koreans and Americans. China will not be standing doing nothing.

Anyone else heard the rumour from Friday's parade that the "missiles" were expertly painted wooden cylinders?
 
Apparently the Russian hackers are helping to build up negative dialogue between the feuding parties

The Americans need better Korean interpreters perhaps which could help diffuse the situation, non?

Most military parades consist of empty missile launchers.
 
Looks like Korean fat boy is just full of gas no action.Finally this nuclear bluff is called out.bodes well for world as it looks like no country is really going to use these arsenal as they claim.
 
Nothing will happen.

If there was a preemptive strike, North Korea could do catastrophic damage to Japan and South Korea. Seoul which is a city with a population of 20 million which is within their artillery range. They could also strike South Korea's nuclear reactor complex with conventional weapons and cause massive damage as South Korea has one of the most developed nuclear energy components of any country in the world.

There would be ramifications for the global economy and China would have to deal with a massive humanitarian crisis on its doorstep with a failing North Korean regime.

A lunatic dictator was supplied with Nuclear weapons effectively checkmating Japan and South Korea.

China is also constantly using North Korea to troll and engage Japan and South Korea.

North Korea will be nothing without China. US should first take China on to its side before doing anything about North Korea. Only China can bully/convince North Korea and topple the military regime. But China will not do it.

China actually is using 2 countries to check mate 3 regional economic super powers that can challenge them.
NK to engage Japan/SK
Pakistan to engage India.

China has supplied Nuclear tech to both NK and China.

If anything, USA should straighten out China first.

Its a fact that China is using Pak to keep India at bay without sweating much. Same thing they are doing to SK/Japan by siding with NK.
 
Some strange posts here.

After the Korean war, the North went towards communism while the South turned to Capitalism. The South would have been taken over if it wasn't for American intervention. Now why is America intervening in nations many miles away? Because they want a strategic hold in the area. They now have Taiwan, Japan and Korea in the region. China isn't stupid, it is behind North Korea and will always be.

Nothing will happen here.
 
What annoys me about the whole situation is how up in arms western politicians and media are about n. korea and yet only the US has ever used nuclear bombs in a war time situation on civilian populations. Yet it's some backwards, poor, starving country we have to feaR?

The whole reasons NK are pursuing nukes and icbm's is because they see western nations going around bombing others. After the attack on Syria the North Korean leadership only became more paranoid and starting lobbing more missiles into the sea. Also in my earlier post I mentioned how the USA came to intervene and save the south which was on the verge of defeat, this isn't something the north have forgotten.

We also have to remember South Korea and Japan have excellent anti-missile defence systems in place. The odd missile might get through but they are hardly in danger of extinction as they play to the world. It's all to do with China but even then the US has something like a 20-1 superiority over China in terms of military capability. The lie of being under threat is yet another excuse to further their bloody imperialist policy.

I totally agree. Plus, NKs capacity is extremely exagerrated as a number of their long range missiles have failed upon testing and remember, this is a ocuntry squeezed on all sides and on the verge of complete economic genocide by western sanctions.

They barely have enough money for military uniforms, let alone waging a successful war against other, better developed, better funded countries.

But hey, I guess the west wants to bomb a few more poor people.
 
America has bombed Iraq, Afghanistan, Libiya, Lebanon and Syria all in recent years, not to mention plenty of other countries. You can't blame North Korea for being paranoid and wanting to be prepared in case something happened. I know America would want to ideally encourage South Korea to start an attack on NK and supply SK with weapons and money. America will then step back and watch them both destroy each other, sounds familiar? when Iraq and Iran went to war for 10 years- who really pushed this? Millions of people died, over what? And today the people in Iraq continue to suffer and this will happen there. I really hope that nothing happens over this - Trump isn't thinking about tomorrow- he's just dropping bombs whenever he wants. I really hope they find a peaceful resolution.
