Civic’s new model earns Honda Rs5bn before launch

As for Canada, I've noticed that new cars are much more expensive than they are in the states. A fully loaded Volkswagen Golf GTI goes for $45k USD up there, whereas you can get a Golf R that is AWD for $5-7k less over here. Ridiculous.

am i the person earning the least amount of money here?!? and i thought i was doing quite well!

everybody is going on like a new honda car is somehow the worst thing to be seen in and i was driving a 1986 ford laser hatchback until 2011!

Most expensive and souped up Civic's in Canada with ALL the features at $27K and $29K:

Yes those models are probably more in line with what is being sold in Pakistan. From personal experience, most people that I have seen with civics and corollas in Pakistan buy them fully loaded.

Yes you are right, I inquired about that once and the reason I was given is that cars in Canada are made to deal with the harsher winter conditions and hence are more expensive. Don't know how much of that is BS though.

Nothing wrong with being frugal. I noticed that those who drive around in fancy cars are often all about flash with no cash.

Credit always does wonders in giving the illusion of being well-off. Never judge a book by its cover.

That's BS. I'm pretty sure it has to do with high taxation up there. The only difference between vehicles in the U.S. and Canada is the instrument clusters; everything else is the same. Harsher winter conditions lol as if there are no harsh winters in America

Canada also has a 15 year import law so if you go to Vancouver, you would see A LOT of RHD cars straight from Japan nowadays.

Not really, there are cars cheaper than the civic which are class and fun to drive. I'd even take a VW polo over a civic.

i wasnt being frugal really i was just dirt poor lol. it's only in the last few years ive had enough to money to even start living alone and not in a share house. i thought this was the case with most early 20s guys but apparently not!

I'll tell you a small story.

I was born in a upper middle class family. Money wasn't an issue so I never realized the value of each coins. I got whatever I asked for. But.... Everyone in the family lived an individual life though we lived in the same house. Everyone was stranger to the other.

Then the trouble time came (dayvancowboy is right here. We were all flesh without cash. It was inevitable but we just didn't realize) . We struggled to meet even the basic needs. To face it, we needed Co operation. That's when the bond between all became stronger because we had to face everything together and survive.

It's not the good time that brought us closer but the bad times.

Moral of the story?

Since you struggled, you know value of each penny. And you'll teach these to next generation. Meanwhile those people who are friends with you now, are true friends and will remain forever.

Pretty much in the same boat brother !! Even if I manage to get one, I woouldn't be able to afford anything more than a Mehran !! :p

I was in KL this year and their Proton isn't a bad option if you want a less expensive car with good features.

However, their public transport system is top notch and you really don't need a car if you don't live very far from work.

OPPs !! BUSTED :p

Transport System in Malaysia is pretty solid, that's probably the only thing I like about being here. But actually I've moved away from KL and currently I am residing in Johor Bahru, which is bordering Singapore since my company is a Singaporean firm and I have to do a lot of in-out during a month !!

BTW never, and I mean NEVER buy a proton. It's one of the worst cars in the history of worst cars ever created !! Breaks down like a tissue paper during long journeys. If Pakistan is to ever think of importing Malaysian made cars then Perodua is the best Malaysian made brand currently !!

I bought a second hand proton saga for my first car in June earlier this year. And it's not that bad honestly. But I do agree about Perodua. It is surprisingly spacious car too for a small car.

Well Proton appeals to many people over here as well as in Pakistan but personally I don't rate the car that much because I can tell you that after driving that thing it's certainly not durable for long journeys - I could be incorrect here but this is just my own thinking.

Perodua on the other hand has amazing space for being a 1.3L smallish car while their drive, fuel consumption, durability and every other aspect is superior to Proton. Also their price range is similar and you get a superior car to both Protons and Suzukis in general. Plus just drive their sedan models and you'd probably get the same road experience as that off in any Toyota or Honda cars !!

A very very very underrated brand !! Perodua and KIA are the two brands I think that should seriously give their marketing strategy and direction a complete overhaul !!

Accord @ 1 Crore 12 Lakh PKR (73 Lakhs INR) ?

In India, you can buy Audi A6, BMW 5 series, Mercedes E Class in 50-60 Lakhs INR.

Who is the person you are looking forward to ?

None. To keep these companies on their toes either bring in other companies or remove import restrictions. You need a good economist here who could analyze how Investment from various companies can be brought in. The regulation of auto industry is pathetic, Mehran is sold the same from 1970, Highest level of consumer exploitation man could see on earth.

These companies charge whatever price they want, Whatever quality they provide, Consumer is bound to pay off his hard earned money to these robbers. No government has manned up against these guys

What about Tax ? How much does GOP take as Tax on purchase of Mehran ?

Cars, Cars registration, Petrol, Electricity is this the only way to get max Tax chunk ?

Why not build institutions like FBR the way PTI has built institutes in KPK ? Why not ?

Bring tax evaders (big snakes) in Tax net. Do not allow people to undervalue there properties to pay 70 % less tax than required.

FBR, CBR etc need reform.

Yeah we are suffering from Honda monopoly. Check the OP, base model of Civic is more expensive in Pakistan than in Canada.
