Clarke has been signed with spartan and well the bat looks quite ugly, blue and random.

Its Spartan 329 apparently and I agree with you guys stickers look rather ugly not a fan of them, I think Asian stickers look much better than them LOL

He still uses Slazenger Gloves and Pads..
Dont understand that his sponsorship moving
from Slazenger To Spartan is a demotion or promotion..
Yes he might get more money but look at the end result..:facepalm:

For an extra 200K, would you complain about your gloves and bat not matching?

Me neither.

and well its working i don't think its a bad start and isn't he getting like an extra 400k

Huh, never seen those stickers on one of Julians bats before.............oops......did I say that out loud.......

What makes you think it's a Milly?

The toe's far too square and the shoulders aren't square enough for a JM, are they?

Does it matter what his bat looks like? He's still scoring centuries with it and getting paid an extra 200 k lol

I highly highly doubt it is a Julian Millichamp made bat, few reason why;

First of all, handle has three strips as opposed to two of Julian Millichamp;

Secondly, the toe is far too squared as 02thoeva said;

Lastly again as 02thoeva pointed shoulder are not 'very' square.

He isnt using spartan soft gear because he only signed with Spartan officially on Monday.

As well as that Michael Clarke is one of the fussiest guys going around with pads and gloves so he wont just use whatever Spartan give him, he will have to get whoever made his last ones to make the exact same ones with spartan logos on it.

funny how its branded 329 even though he scored it when he had no contract...

Looks like ponting and clarke have the same batmaker and i will not be surprised if the bats are made in India

I thought that might get some discussion going!

You and CD are quite correct, there are a number of differences in Clarke's bat and those we recognise as being made by the master millichamp!

OK, so Spartan, who are they? do they make their own bats? where? or outsourced to SG or SS or other?

AND

is Clarkes a genuine Spartan or a stickered up something else, and if the latter, any thoughts?

I think it's his old bat,stickered up as Spartan.Here's why:

Hehe cheers bud :)

Indeed, you labelled it correctly 'Master Millichamp' top man and top stuff!

Nah Spartan bats are sourced from India, I think it was 02thoeva who said they are not made in Australia nor they make it themselves.

I'm 100% sure the bat Clarke is using is stickered up as Spartan because if you closely see the stickers you will notice that the sticker (front one) is on top of scuff sheet while it works other way around usually.

I'm sure this is one of those which had Slazenger stickers when Clarke was with them until he went onto plain/BlankBats.

^is it just me or is the spine in only the centre of the bat (looks at the picture with plain bat

indeed it does explains the squarish toe but do lavers have squared shoulders>>

To me the bat looks really awesome...
Is David Warner the first person who started using squared toe?

the whole Kaboom range has squared toes and i think warner helped design that range

not as square but i think they did, different manufacturers have different shaped toes and have had so for quite a while

Clarke's bats have always been made in Australia. He said this himself.

His bat could be from JM, as he could tell Julian to make it any shape that he wants, and to have a 3 spring handle rather than the 2. Whereas we pretty much get a customised shape from his 5 or 6 series profiles and a 2 spring handle. So there is every possibility it could be one of his. Still quality bats, but I'm sure Julian would bend to Clarke's specifications, if he did indeed make bats for him. Whereas his bats for regular customers are based on what he thinks is best for your game.

In regards to his payments, he is getting AUD $3million over 3 years, so $1million a year. Not a bad pay day.

Other than JM, Clarke could get his bats from;

Steven Bradbury, Gabba, Sommers, Fisher and maybe from who ever used to make Impala's. He wouldn't get his bats from Gray Nicolls.

There could be more, but those are the main ones over here and I bet it would be one of them.

Sounds interesting and yesterday I was on phone with a PPer who is based in Australia (seera on PakPassion) and he was telling me how Clarke is probably the most picky in Australian squad on equipments.

However, if I remember correctly he also mentioned Bradbury as Clarke's front runner manufacturer but I won't be surprised at all if this is a Julian's bat he would definitely bend and make a bat as per Clarkes specifications as langer17 said.

I remember when I was talking to Julian obviously he didn't name any player from current squad but the way he went on to talk it was giving an idea that he indeed does make bats for few of Australian players.

Thanks for sharing the article, they will release the range in June which means that by then the gloves and pads of MC 329 will be made as Clarke wants them to be.

David Warner has been using squared toe bats since he was a kid, thats how he grew up playing cricket so he has stuck with it as it works the best for him.

This may interest you guys, Warner has been using bats with a much rounder toe during the series against India.

Just go through a couple here and you will see that the toe on his bats are no longer square:

Interesting, that is true actually.

The toe certainly looks tad rounder as opposed to his previous bats.

Seems like he is modifying his bat bit by bit, which is not a bad thing imho.
