Clash of powerhouses: Azam Khan and Shivam Dube - who will achieve more success?

As mass production of Ozempic has started in India, I would suggest Azam to consult his doctor and order ozempic from India. Heard it will be cheap 2000 rupees per month.

Our obsession with comparisons to our arch rivals is beyond understanding now.. A second string Indian team can easily white-wash our first tier "Premier" team..

Azam Khan is also a parchi player, Daddy makes sure he gets to play..

OP is Indian though.

Indians enjoy these what if comparisons as much as we do, I don’t think any Indian or Pakistani player comparison is serious these days for current players- probably only for past players do they warrant a serious discussion.

His power hitting is effortless but the issue is once in a blue moon type performance and then he vanishes for a long time... There is zero consistency and zero fitness whatsoever..

Not sure where this sarcasm suddenly comes from, but Azam Khan is the player who once mentioned that his fitness should not be questions, cause his performances are there for everyone to see. He is by far the worst player I have seen wear the great green shirt for Pak, and believe there have been some poor selections. I advise you to check his pathetic display vs Wood in Eng some years ago.

They all are pathetic. That is the reason for the downfall of Pak cricket. The list of poor and overrated players is endless.

So far I got- Sharjeel, Azam Khan, Asif Ali- already shaping to be a blockbuster X1. Need 8 more to make a legendary side.

Sleepless nights? for what? a score vs a nobody attack. I genuine cant believe people can back such a player like Azam Khan. In real cricket T20Is he has a mighty average of 8.

your cricketing understanding is on par with the likes of Gazza, Kiani and Ishtiaq.

Why can’t the skinny, fit guys actually hit the ball like he can?

Babar has a bps rate of 50 odd balls per six, Rizwan is around 30 balls

Why are they playing T20 and embarrassing themselves with this guy showing them up? That too, outside of the powerplay?

Those who are fit for international cricket….why can’t they do anything as close to him in their same domestic competitions?

Babar was selected at number 4 for Pakistan in T20s….

Where the hell is his 30 ball 70 anywhere??

Azam has better power hitting than Babar, but Azam cant be playing for Pakistan with that fitness.

Its just like the Cosgrove scenario in Australia.

If he becomes fit, he walks into the team that has no middle order in existence

We keep going in circles. All the players mentioned above have been underperforming and do not belong in Pakistan’s LOI setup, also the one mentioned from the past (Misbah). On the other hand as poster mentions Azam to score a 100 in ODI cricket, yet his T20 average is 8. As long as this continues, Pakistan cricket will not progress.

You can criticise him for his international record but the poster I mentioned was trying to downplay his brilliant performance of yesterday. Does Azam Khan exist only to be ridiculed? If he performs well and you can’t acknowledge it, at least don’t troll him.

If he is that bad, then the entire opposition XI he scored the match winning knock against should be banned from all forms of cricket.

I am not trolling him. I am stating the facts. He cant play pace bowling and cant pick proper spinners. Scoring in PSL vs nobodies is nothing special.

I respect your opinion as you seem unbiased. I am only calling out a certain type of fans who always promote a particular style of cricket just because their favourite players play that way.
 
i used to play club cricket in India. One of the most sought after batsman in the circuit was a guy called Amit (name changed to protect privacy).

He was this out of shape ex- failed domestic cricketer, who used to come in with a proper kit. Along with that he also used to bring along 2 packets of Marlboro reds, and a whole strip of Gutkha. He wouldn’t field, just sit in the “dugout” and enjoy his substances till his turn came to bat.

Boy, he could bat, he would hit the ball a long way and so hard that he absolutely would destroy those cheap low quality club level cricket balls and fielders would be scared to even try and stop the ball.

Moral of the story - as I said in the beginning of the statement, he was washed up and couldn’t make it probably in domestics due to the clear indiscipline and issues. However for club standard, he was absolutely in demand but in a professional setting a guy who has issues like that and can’t field or doesn’t contribute with intensity has no spot.

Apply this principle to Azam Khan. You can’t hide him in the field for 20 overs and if he plays as a keeper it further weakens the fielding.

Ps: Azam seems like an educated, sensible and mature guy compared to most Pak cricketers so I really can’t tell why this guy hasn’t worked on his fitness. He comes from a celebrity family too so he should have additional resources too. It’s not about Ind-Pak, fat-skinny, a person with that commitment and work ethic doesn’t deserve a free run.

That’s my 2 cents.

Azam Khan delivered a match-winning performance to guide Karachi Kings to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Rawalpindiz in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, as the Kings continued their unbeaten run in the tournament

Chasing a challenging 198-run target, Karachi Kings showed composure and firepower to reach the total with four balls to spare.

The chase was anchored by captain David Warner and Azam Khan, who stitched together a crucial 76-run partnership for the third wicket.

Warner played a steady yet fluent innings of 50 off 36 deliveries, striking six fours and a six, while Azam took control with a blistering knock of 74 off just 34 balls, smashing six fours and as many sixes to take the game away from the opposition.

Despite his match-winning effort, Azam remained self-critical of his performance.

“I would say I was not really satisfied with the innings today because I gave a lot of chances, but obviously getting runs off the bat always feels nice,” he said.

The wicketkeeper-batter also spoke about his preferred batting position and preparation leading into the tournament.

“I really practiced a lot on my shots, and I had a gut feeling that they might send me at number four because I personally think that’s my ideal position after the powerplay,” he added.

Azam highlighted the importance of his partnership with Warner, revealing the simple strategy that guided their approach during the chase.

“That was a really crucial partnership. We decided that we have to take one boundary in every over. Scoring 200 in a T20 game is not that difficult now, but we needed that boundary each over, and we did that. I’m happy that we ended up winning.”

Reflecting on his journey over the past few months, Azam Khan credited his hard work and training for his improved performances.

“Since the last PSL, I haven’t played much professional cricket, but I’m in a good zone because I trained really hard in the past few months, and it’s showing on the ground,” he further revealed.

“The last seven to eight months have been difficult. I moved to Lahore from Karachi and trained at the National Cricket Academy. I’ve been putting in effort and repetitions every day, and it’s giving me confidence. I feel really confident about my game going forward in the tournament.”

Captain David Warner also praised Azam’s impactful innings, backing the young batter to carry the momentum through the season.

“That was fantastic. He just needed a bit of intent to come out and play his way, and we know what he’s capable of. To see him perform like that in the middle will hold him in good stead for the rest of the tournament.”

With three consecutive victories, Karachi Kings currently sit at the top of the HBL PSL 11 points table, building strong momentum early in the campaign
